So, wildfire season has started in Washington. I had been enjoying the weather, but of course there’s a downside. Get ready for smokey days.
Happy filing week to all who celebrate. And hey, if your local elected officials aren’t up to snuff, there’s a good chance that they’re up for election now. You might as well run if nobody you like is stepping up.

That’s right. The Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally meets tonight. Swing by and join the conversation and relax over a drink.
We meet tonight and every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern, 2409 10th Ave E, Seattle. You’ll find us in the back room starting about 8:00pm.

Remember a while ago when like every open thread was Carl has something to say about the library? Anyway here’s another Carl rides his bike post.* It was either that or complain about taking the bus in Tacoma again.**
Anyway, the bike lane is for moving bikes (and scooters, etc.). I understand people crossing the road or going out of their cars are going to be in the bike lane for a second. But!
Stop walking long ways through it. Especially on 2nd where there’s ample sidewalk. And for God’s sake, holding hands? There’s a sidewalk. It’s bad enough being stuck behind slow walkers when I’m walking, but when I’m on a bike?
And are people parking their Lime Bikes in the bike lane or are people putting them there? Either way, please stop.
I love having the bike lanes. It’s so much nicer than when I moved to the urban core, let alone growing up in the area. I think a little consideration would make them even better.
* Carl, you had too many Carl rides his bike pieces from the jump.
** The 3 takes such a weird detour to the Tacoma Mall and then just sits there before doubling back for a bit??? Also, not a complaint or the bus, but T Line got good at some point!

Gosh, I really love Seattle in the Spring. Sorry in advance for the non-Seattle people reading this. It’s mostly one bus lane and all one part of the city.

Tonight we will raise a glass in honor of former Seattle PI columnist Joel Connelly, who died last week at the age of 78. Joel was a regular at our DL until a few years ago. He was a friendly and calming presence, and was always willing to share with us his wisdom and recollections from a lifetime in politics and media.
