This week, the rate election where candidates that drop out still win. The Texas State House case, probably a special election coming as the candidate that had dropped out had a critical record. Probably one benefit of the system New Zealand uses, List MP Vacancies are filled by contacting the next on the party’s list, asking them if they are still a member of that party, and do they still want the job. They vote Saturday, polls are saying, assuming they are accurate, the Center-right block could be re-elected, or a possible Hung Parliament.
I’ve seen many online saying this is about time, others fear CT’s focus on connecting cities could degrade local routes in Everett. My problem, is Everett Transit currently funded at a sales tax rate 1/2 of CT’s 1.2%. The state has schemed to force a merger many times over the years, but they did change the rule to not require voter approval of the merger. I don’t think it would pass, doubling the sales tax, and the money from the buyout goes to general fund and civic projects. Seattle spent the money from the Metro buyout on Metro upgrading the trolleybus network.

Consolidation does have its benefits though, look at California local transit, dozens of agencies in the LA and Bay Area.
On the bright side, Community Transit’s garages will be in their district for a change. Kasch Park and Hardeson are both in Everett.
