A photo of Geov (stolen from Andrew’s post), circa 2007.
I’d no idea Geov Parrish had passed until I saw his obituary on The Cascadia Advocate. Thank you, Andrew, for taking the time to chronicle Geov’s many contributions to Seattle’s political media scene.
With incisive commentary, wicked humor, and a generous spirit, the Eat the State! co-founder challenged readers to think critically and devoted his life to peace and social justice, even through years of serious illness.
In addition to Eat the State, The Stranger, and The Seattle Weekly, Geov was a regular contributor to HA from 2006 through 2012. We was also a mentor, a fellow traveler, and a friend. He will be missed.

Well at least he can no longer become a prosecution target of the Trump administration for challenging people to think critically and devoting his life to peace and social justice.
RIP, Geov. We’ll be seeing you again, all of us, someday, because none of us are immortal either.

1 – Maybe.
Very independent voice. Highly critical of Democrats. Libertarian streak even..
I remember clearly when he advocated for Kshama Sawant’s first run for the City Council.
He said plain as day, “I’m not a socialist.” So there trolls, suck on that. You can support a socialist to shake things up on a city council or where ever without agreeing with everything they say or do.
Geov had a lot of health problems. RIP.
@4 “Socialist” is a very flexible term in Republicans hands.
By the way, calling Social Security “socialism” is factually incorrect, because the program was/is organized on insurance principles. Alternatively, if Social Security is socialism, then so is their auto and home insurance.

Democrats at the Wellstone memorial assumed differently.
Roger Rabbit:
Rest in peace
@5 It looks like you didn’t read the second paragraph, and that’s quite a spin you’re putting on the third paragraph. If you want to get into a verbal bashing contest, I’ll be happy to meet you in an open thread.
