I saw a clip of a 60 minutes interview of Bibi, where he compares the extent in size of 9/11 deaths with respect to population of the United States compared to the number of death in the October killings in Isreal to the population of Isreal, trying to make the point that percentage wise the Israeli massacre was greater than the the 9/11 massacre. Not sure that has anything to do with justifying the death and destruction in Gaza, but he thought so.

So,I guess if he and conservatives want to play that game, which they themselves have no clue what it means other than it makes the cream their pants, then I guess they need to put into perspective all their complaints of crime in NYC. NYC has 20 to 50 times the density of the average of other American cities. With that comes more events on a daily basis, of crime and liter, and cost of governance. Seemingly that it’s worse than other American cities but not necessarily and not because of who runs the city.

The presiding judge noted that she came in fifth regardless of the NCAA not banning Lia Thomas and her ‘future financial earnings’’ as an athlete we’re impacted not even remotely by tying for fifth AND she turned the martyrdom of not coming in sixth into a lucrative career BECAUSE the NCAA didn’t ban Lia Thomas.

You have to wonder if Riley’s lawyers will get referred to the bar as any fist year law student knows you need to be able to prove injury in some form to hope to win a case. Mmm

High fuel prices anywhere drive consumers to alternatives like EV’s

I generally welcome higher fossil fuel prices.

Of course electricity is expensive as well but that drives development of yet more alternatives like renewables.

Cali is rich in renewable potential.. And the innovations are off the charts.

Why are fuel prices so high in Cali? Good rundown:

    https://fuelwide.com/blog/why-is-gas-so-expensive-in-california

    This part is notable:

California requires its own summertime gasoline recipe — CARB RFG — formulated to cut smog in a state with two of the nation’s worst air basins. It genuinely works, and it genuinely costs more to refine. Few refineries outside the state can even produce it

Greedee kreepfuck would rather choke on smog. Little wonder. Has brain damage from inhaling the leaded fumes from I-5 drifting over toonerville.

High fuel prices anywhere drive consumers to alternatives like EV’s

Taxpayer subsidies drive consumers to EVs. Want proof?

EV sales peaked around September — then dropped in the following two quarters once the credit expired. Compared to the year before, in late 2025, they fell 36%. They were down 27% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2026.

This year, new EV sales have been more sluggish — but they’re stable. EVs have steadily accounted for somewhere between 5 and 6% of all new car sales throughout 2026, according to Edmunds.

    That’s from NPR, published today.

When the Inflation Reduction Act took effect in August 2022, expanding the credit to more buyers, EVs made up about 5% of new car sales. Over the following three years, EV sales grew, ticking past 6, then 7, then 8%. They swelled to 11.4% in September 2025, as people rushed to take advantage of the tax credit’s final days, according to data from Edmunds.

    2022: 5%
    2023: 6-plus%
    2024: 7-plus%
    2025: 8-plus%

    2026: 5-6%

Rising fuel prices but falling EV purchases are the opposite of what YLB claims. The reason? Taxpayers aren’t footing the bill for EV purchases anymore.

Another strong post, YLB. You’re on a roll today.

Today Amtrak and WSDOT put the first AIRO train sets into service on 503 to Portland and Eugene. So far, made it to Portland Union Station. Going to miss the TALGOs, shame only the Bistro car of one Talgo 6 was preserved, and still think a newer TALGO 8 had been available that morning, 501 would have survived.(Unfortunately not available that morning).

    https://www.trains.com/pro/passenger/intercity/news-photos-first-run-for-cascades-airo-trainset/

AMTRAK promised after that day, Washington got priority on an upcoming rolling stock order, and since ours would be the most conventional of the order, the chances they kept it was high, but usually plans and promises by Amtrak management don’t survive a change in management. These versions of the AIRO wouldn’t have been available for Northeast State supported services anyway, a different version now under testing will be for those services and a game changer. No more locomotive swaps at Washington, Philadelphia, and New Haven.

YLB @ 34 tries to whitewash fuel taxes in California, which are the nation’s highest.

YLB points out mildly cleaner unleaded fuel as the reason for the higher cost of gasoline in CA. But the real reason? It’s the taxes:

… a Californian hands government roughly $1.20 per gallon before the fuel itself costs anything. The lowest-tax states hand over about a fifth of that.

So after Kavanaugh by single decree tried to kill a prisoner the execution failed?

If he actually follows his Catholicism in his daily life he’d know what the church says about execution and take this as a sign from God the prisoner was to be saved and might be a Saint of some kind.

    It’s a mother ducking miracle.

The State Department said Thursday that Rubio had signed off on the waiver “in the interest of U.S. national security.”

The failed Tennessee execution using a single drug (pentobarbital) has a backstory. When Merrick Garland was attorney general under Biden, he imposed a moratorium on use of pentobarbital in federal executions after a 3-year study raised questions about its effectiveness. Then, without any further study,

During the first day of his second term on Jan. 20, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order aimed at lifting the moratorium and reestablishing the federal death penalty.

    https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/crime/2026/10/01/pentobarbital-failed-to-kill-christa-pike-what-to-know-about-the-drug/92038126007/

By ‘businessman’ we mean ‘drug and human trafficker’ and ‘election fraudster.’

After Cerimedo allegedly took out a hit on his pregnant mistress which failed though the attempt was on CCTV the Mistress began working with the Bolivian AG.

Now, the right wing Bolivian government has arrested the AG and several prosecutors who , totally coincidentally, were working on the Cerimedo prosecution.

Prosecutors had uncovered a bot farm designed to overwhelm social media sites with political misinformation at the heart of Cerimedo’s lobbying operations. And evidence he was running a South American sex trafficking ring including underaged girls.

Now, in cooperation with the US, Cerimdo’s legal troubles may go away.

US secretary of state Marco Rubio praised the arrests as “bold and decisive actions to combat narco-trafficking, systemic corruption, and transnational organised crime in Bolivia”.

@76 I’m reading “1873” by Liaquat Ahamed which is basically about a bond market collapse that triggered a global depression lasting for years. People who don’t read history learn nothing from it. You know who I’m referring to.

It’s a fair criticism of Democrats that they’re as blind to the insidious effects of deficits as Republicans are. The GOP long ago abandoned being the party of fiscal responsibility, though until Trump they sporadically tried to keep up the pretense.

The last time they took a serious run at it was in the 1990s, when they forced budget surpluses on President Clinton, but only because they didn’t like his spending priorities and couldn’t get theirs.

It’s hard to get the public to vote for tax increases and spending cuts, but that’s what it will take to stabilize the bond market if it seriously revolts. Alternatively, you could let inflation diminish the debt, but inflation is effectively just a tax in another form on businesses and consumers.

The shit will hit the fan when investors are no longer willing to finance America’s deficits or demand much higher interest rates to do so. Foreigners are already backing away, and Trump’s foreign policies are accelerating that process.
