In two years Biden and Democrats produced the most significant and transformational domestic legislative package since Great Society. And let’s be honest: they did it with all of us expecting them to settle mostly for a bunch of useless symbolic votes to be used in 2022 campaign ads to protect moderate swings.
Now less than one week into Brave Kevin’s Speakership it is Republicans with no other moves than forcing symbolic votes. And not only are these votes useless and symbolic, they can’t even use them in 2024 campaign ads to protect vulnerable incumbents. Because nationwide abortion bans and helping rich tax cheats is very unpopular.

So what’s been done mostly is Pelosi and Biden watched all that unfold and went to school on it. There’s been no appeasement to Republican racism, gender bigotry, or preferences for the billionaire class. And Democrats have thus been more unified and organized than in any post-Watergate period.

– Passed the most significant piece of gun control legislation in decades
– Passed the CHIPS and Science Act making historic public investments in restoring domestic manufacturing in the future of global industry
– Passed the Inflation Reduction Act that caps out of pocket expenses for costly prescriptions, authorized the government to negotiate pricing with price gouging big pharma, caps the price for life sustaining insulin, reduces monthly premiums for 15 million low income working families, and established the Corporate Minimum Tax of 15% that ends forever the Ryan Republican era of giant corps paying nothing
– This is only a partial list. And it only offers a mere glimpse at what Democrats accomplish when they collectively abandon appeasement to Republican ultra MAGA extremism
