We meet tonight and every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern, 2409 10th Ave E, Seattle. You’ll find us out on the back deck starting about 8:00pm.

Chapters of Living Liberally are all over the place…if you can’t make it to the Seattle chapter, stop by another chapter near you.

    What happened to “states rights”?

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche told faith leaders he is planning to roll back abortion access even in states that have laws protecting it. … Blanche assured them that the Justice Department (DOJ) is “working … so the Dobbs decision becomes permanent in every single state.” The 2022 Supreme Court decision in Dobbs … allowed states to set their own policies, stopping short of a national ban. …

I guess “states rights” only applies when Republicans want it to. Oh, and there’s this:

Blanche’s comments went far beyond what he said during his confirmation hearing.

Which shouldn’t surprise anyone, because it’s now well-established that Trump nominees routinely lie in their confirmation hearings to give political cover to the Republican senators voting to confirm them, and very Republican senator is complicit in this charade.

2026 (June IPO): Priced at approximately $1.75 trillion ($135 per share) on the Nasdaq, with post-debut trading fluctuating around $1.4 to $2.2 trillion.

Trump’s attempt to have his DHS minions decide who can receive mail ballots is not only a bad attempt, it’s an illegal idea, and an attempt to rig the midterm elections.

Blanche’s participation in this evil scheme should disqualify him from confirmation as attorney general. But Republican senators will still vote for him, making them complicit in his shenanigans.

Abdul El-Sayed’s younger and higher-educated base drove him to victory in Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary, according to an analysis of county voting patterns.

So other than the employee rats abandoning the sinking ship at the first opportunity, why did SpaceX lose another 13% today?

    Two reasons:

    1. Standard “buy on the rumor, sell on the news” behavior.

    2. Reversal of the previous day’s large gain. Right now SPCX shares are pretty much where they were at on Friday.

At the end of the day today a shit-ton of early-investor shares will be unlocked and will flood the market with 900 million additional shares. The recent share decline is in part due to anticipatory behavior.

It is fine. Nobody had a gun to their head and was forced to buy SPCX when it went public.

Let’s recall that prior to “losing” 30% of its IPO price, SPCX shares surpassed $225/share from their issuance price of $135, which is also “fine”.

The share price of SPCX is what a willing buyer and a willing seller agree the shares are worth at any one snapshot in time.

@86 “Delicate constitution” has nothing to do with it. Facebook didn’t have SpaceX’s governance issues, and by 2012 it was consistently profitable. SpaceX has a captive board, is completely controlled by one person (Musk), is dependent on government contracts, and every one of its divisions except Starlink is losing money. Its IPO was grossly overpriced; Wall Street pros put its intrinsic value at around $50. Only 5% of the shares were offered in the IPO, and huge numbers of shares will flood the market when lockup periods expire — and yes, you will see insiders cashing out, taking gains while the getting is good. Calling SPCX a “scam” isn’t my terminology; that’s coming from the financial community.

Looking at the upcoming service change for transit operators, one thing that should have happened in March is route 550 is being eliminated. Should be Metro taking over local service on Bellevue Way, not another ST Express Route. Also on the Eastside, Metro 208, North Bend-Snoqualmie-Issaquah is being replaced with a new route, the 215, Looks like same routing except it continues to Mercer Island to give the Southern portion of the Snoqualmie Valley a direct connection to LINK Light Rail at Mercer Island , but could be bad for Sound Transit revenue. The 208 current terminus is the Factory Outlet stores. Frequency will be every 30-90 minutes depending on time of day and will run weekends. Besides costs, another reason for the current roughly every other hour schedule, is it only requires one bus. More frequency on such a long route requires more buses.

I think it’s questionable whether any EO on birthright citizenship can be valid. First, interpreting the 14th amendment is the province of the courts, not the executive. Second, EOs aren’t permanent; an EO can be reversed by a subsequent president, so a person could be a citizen under one president but not under another, which isn’t a tenable situation. Third, an EO narrowing citizenship could have the effect of revoking the citizenship of persons already deemed citizens; and, conversely, those persons could have their citizenship restored by a different president. So I think SCOTUS should say defining citizenship under the 14th Amendment is a subject on which presidents lack authority to issue EOs.

That brings the total net number of women who have left the labor force since January this year to 845,000. In comparison, there are 406,000 fewer men in the labor force now than in January.

A total of 165,000 women, aged 20 and over, left the labor force last month — meaning they are neither working nor looking for work — while men’s labor force participation was unchanged. Overall, the economy lost 23,000 jobs in July. Women accounted for all of these losses, losing 32,000 jobs, while men gained 9,000 jobs. Women make up 50.1% of the workforce.

If the footage captures an incident involving serious bodily injury or death while in custody, the agency said it will review the video and release it to the public — but only if the administration determines doing so is “in the best interests of the agency.”

But why Robles, not some other player? Maybe because he has one of the strongest throwing arms in baseball, according to Wikipedia, though you wouldn’t know it from his pitching, which looked more appropriate for a girls’ junior high softball game.

But at least to his credit he didn’t hit any batters and got the ball over the plate enough times for the batters to score three runs off him.

It’s also possible the players drew straws in the dugout, or Robles was chosen to be the goat on the mound by a coin flip.

In early August, Politico analyzed DOGE’s claim that it had saved taxpayers $52.8 billion through canceled contracts. However, of the $32.7 billion in contract savings the outlet could verify, it said the true number was closer to $1.4 billion. And beyond inflated savings, the drastic cuts enacted by DOGE may have themselves cost the government money, further reducing the net savings achieved.

Responds to post pointing out that all these ‘taxpayers will flee’ observable examples being false every single time and WaPo echoing 30 years of that falsehood.

‘Editorial pages should not be echo chambers.’

“If we keep saying it for 50 years, almost like verbatim to last tine we said it and it bounces back at us, eventually it will be true. Law of averages. A broken clock is right 90% of the tine. Liverals and other people’s’ money. You can lead a horse to water but it will sow an oat.”.

    Well played.

Sometime this weekend ‘The Odyssey’ will cross over $1B in revenue.

    Has anyone seen it?

Is the reason there’s no sex in it because after beginning the movie with Ellen Page acting like a dude there’s no point in trying to arouse anyone?

Your very behavior has answered that question many times over.. too many times to count..

@180 It’s funny how conservatives rail against media owned by rich white guys whose editorial boards complain raising the $7.25 minimum wage is socialism, isn’t it? I attribute it to their never have read a newspaper in their entire lives.

@182 I don’t quite see what your posts at 108 and 182 have to do with each other.

In any case, news is a business. If nobody buys your paper or listens to your broadcasts, you go out of business.

Notice I didn’t say “if nobody reads your paper.” Lots of newspapers are bought for their qualities as shelf liners and fish wrappers.

@185 Bombing children and shooting journalists, doctors and nurses, aid workers, and refugees in food lines only becomes genocide when you do enough of it. The rest of the time it’s merely murder.

Twice. Once atxPacSci IMAX which isn’t really IMAX but at least it’s 70mm. Once at the local with my adult kid. I don’t. Lie about stock options I can afford the movies.

I see the newest “Why it sucks” echo chamber (no explicit sex and nudity) has filtered down to you. It’s all the rage now with Butthurt conservatives who found out Elliot isn’t a major character and then it made a boatload of money.

Just whack off to your worn out Porky’s Betamax you freaks.

    Zeus raped a lot.

    Yep.

Christian conservatives are assholes. Film at 11.

Side note, they demanded a ‘tryout’. That’s not a thing in a small league where the amount of talent coming out of the NCAA every year far outpaces the number of spots. Maybe they can declare for the draft. See if any of the teams are maybe in the market for a washed up bitter never was a player. A 36 year-old cancer in the clubhouse who last sat on a bench in the NBA 14….14….years…ago. And finished his single season with a stat line of 3GP, 0 pts, 0 Rebounds, 0 asst, 0 stl, 0 blk, 0FTA, 0 FTM, 1 PF

Also got his aaaaaaaaassssss handed to him running for Ilhan Omar’s seat. Congressman Omar is far far far far more accomplished professionally. Then he spent campaign funds at a strip club.

It’s truly sad when guys like you try to make the most mediocre of men desperate for continued attention your standard bearer for all that is good, righteous and masculine in America.
