  22. In Wisconsin, Democratic insiders were already worried about Hong’s electability, even against the weak GOP candidate, before she belittled the Thanksgiving holiday.

    In the Democratic primary, two polls from last week had Hong leading Crowley 45.3% to 20.8% and 42.7% to 14.0%. Crowley is the Milwaukee County Executive, with large numbers of undecideds.

    The race is tight, but as the remaining votes get whittled down, most results now coming in favor Crowley and he’s about 3,400 votes ahead, a number that’s been pretty steady for a while now.

    That may not sound like much, but Hong’s Madison stronghold is fully reported and the indispensable Milwaukee vote isn’t going her way.

    If it stays this close, there could be a recount, but statewide recounts typically change only a few dozen votes.

    Maybe but that’s bad analysis. Hong is leading some mid-sized counties where 95% is in. Enough still out to wipe out a 2,500 vote lead. Milwaukee County is close to a draw and with 95% of Dane (Madison) in and Hong holding a 7% advantage that suggests 1300ish additional advantage for Hong.

    I have no dog on this flight* as I’m not from Wisconsin but the money spent by GOP groups to keep Hong off the ballot so they can still lose by 20 in November is quite something.

    * Remember when PETA came up with alternative idioms. Some were funny enough they became part of my regular speech. “Feed two birds with one scone” etc.

To catch up, Hong needs to win over 60% of the remaining votes, which are concentrated in Milwaukee where Crowley has a 43%-41.5% lead over Hong. I consider that improbable, and so does Decision Desk, which has declared Crowley the winner.

  33. PPP polls taken in late July and in early August had Hong up 20 and 18 points, respectively. A Marquette poll even later in July had her up 22.

    The Michigan polls had el Sayed up by double digits.

    It is hard not to conclude that commies poll well but fail to live up to polling expectations when it counts. Something to keep in mind so that you don’t go selzering just before the November election.
