    GOODYEAR, Ariz. — A Goodyear family is calling into question what police have told them and the public about what happened to their family member. Jacob Vela, 38, collided with a Goodyear Police cruiser on Tuesday as he was crossing the intersection of Estrella Parkway and Fillmore Street on his motorcycle.
    The investigation into what happened is in the hands of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. They said two officers in the Goodyear cop car had their lights and sirens activated when they entered the intersection against a red light as they were responding to an assault in progress call.

    A concerned Goodyear resident provided 12News with their dashcam footage of the crash. It does not appear that the police cruiser’s lights and sirens were on as it entered the intersection.

    Nah. Plenty of questions. We can start with how it’s possible to claim there wasn’t a siren from a video with no sound.

    After that, we can ask why, if there were no lights and siren, the other vehicles with a green light weren’t moving at the time of the collision.

    We can also ask why the motorcyclist was so far head of the pickup truck in front of the vehicle with the dashcam, when the two were at the same point at the intersection prior to the collision.

    We can then proceed to how it’s possible to tell that the lights weren’t on if there’s a pickup truck in the way and it’s broad daylight.

    Finally, we can ask whether lights can be seen from a moving low-quality dashcam more than 300 feet away from the collision and behind a truck.

    Plenty of questions.

    Oh, and too bad the dead dude wasn’t wearing a helmet. Really too bad. And if only he was not speeding, and if only his pipes weren’t so loud. I mean, it’s not like he had a helmet to obstruct his ability to hear.
