When I-5 loses a few lanes Downtown, or back in the day maintenance of the the Viaduct, you get breathless news coverage. But significant delays on the 1 Line are just a normal story. They should be a normal story, but so should carmageddon!!!!!! stories.

Your commute may be messed up, here are some work arounds is a reasonable story, is good. But maybe the local media aren’t catering to transit riders as much as drivers. Or maybe it reflects how whiny some drivers can be, and need the media to reflect that.

Anyway, it sure would be nice if we had a streetcar that ran through Downtown to make alternate routes easier.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia is no criminal. He came to the United States twelve years ago at our invitation, presented himself, went through the drawn out legal processes, was granted temporary permission to remain in the United States, then applied for and obtained legal permission from the United States government during the first Trump administration to reside here permanently. He went to work and began paying lots of taxes as soon as he had permission to do so. He got married, started a family, and began an extended union trade apprenticeship. He never violated any laws anywhere. We have absolutely no evidence at all to believe that ANY of the hundreds of other detainees shipped to the contract torture facility in El Salvador ever committed any crimes. They, like Kilmar, have merely been “designated” by the Fat Hitler regime, without any procedures or hearings of any kind.

As I write this comment, and as openly confirmed by official spokespeople for the Fat Hitler regime, the administration is currently exploring and developing legal arguments, and rationales to extend this authority to native born U.S. citizens.

They have suspended the Constitution and they are developing methods to disappear U.S. citizens they don’t like without any intervening authority. It’s already here. It’s already happening.

El Salvador President Bukele says he won’t be releasing Kilmar Abrego Garcia back to the US

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump ‘s top advisers and Nayib Bukele, the president of El Salvador, said Monday that they had no basis for the small Central American nation to return a Maryland man who was wrongly deported there last month.

Trump administration officials emphasized that Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was sent to a notorious gang prison in El Salvador, was a citizen of that country and that U.S. has no say in his future. And Bukele, who has been a vital partner for the Trump administration in its deportation efforts, said “of course I’m not going to” release him back to U.S. soil.

“The question is preposterous,” Bukele said. “I don’t have the power to return him to the United States.”

Oh, and if El Salvador were to authorize the illegal alien’s return to the US:

Should El Salvador want to return Abrego Garcia, the U.S. would “facilitate it, meaning provide a plane,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said.

Let’s recap what libbie have gained from all of this, shall we?

    • The criminal gang member in question will remain in the El Salvador prison, where he belongs.
    • In a 9-0 opinion the US Supreme Court has made it crystal clear to wayward rogue judges in the lower federal court system that Article II delegates foreign policy solely to the president.

We are no longer a constitutional republic.

They day may soon come when the new fascist regime attempts to deploy federal officers to directly oppose and defy local state authorities. Having suspended the Constitution’s authority over the federal government the next logical step then is to assert the federal dominance over state authorities. The new fascist Republicans will be seeking the right opportunity and likely soon. As with their lawless renditioning and torture of innocent legal residents, they will take the next step claiming it is for “safety”. And at that point we will cease to be a republic.

Which state and which Governor will face this targeting is hard to predict. But it will likely be a less powerful and less influential state and governor with a more evenly politically divided population. And just as in the case of the fascist suspension of the Constitution, the attack upon state sovereignty will be largely treated as part of some kind of normal political continuum.

And of course, Republicans will all support it wholeheartedly.

According to a unanimous vote of the Republican Party’s own hand-picked fed soc approved Supreme Court it can only be “revoked or overruled” following minimum due process, consisting of public hearings in front of sworn judges at which the government must present evidence and at which the resident is granted the opportunity to challenge the government evidence and present a defense. except the republic part is now past tense.

Not entirely. Not just yet. But likely soon.

Integrally bound up in the framer’s conception of our Constitutional republic was a system of federalism.

Entirely distinct, and not without real intention, the framework of national government they created was unlike parliament, and was absolutely intended to subordinate the national government authority to that of the individual states except in specific “fields” of authority (national defense, interstate commerce, treaties). And with only the permanent and enduring rights of the individual having supremacy over all.

It really is only a matter of time and opportunity before the Republicans attempt to subvert that and impose Fat Hitler’s authority over the states in fields not otherwise preempted. Should the Supreme Court allow or ignore this it will empower Fat Hitler. But it will also reverse more than 80 years of “conservative” Fed Soc effort to roll back Supremacy Clause jurisprudence arising out of the New Deal.

If/when the people finally wake up and take to the ballots to toss Repubicans out of office and replace them with what we should hope will be a significantly younger and more progressive generation of Democrats, all that work will have been undone, by Republicans, in blind servile obedience to their beloved Fat Hitler. And those Democrats will be perfectly free to write laws permanently enshrining rights, restrictions, and protections the likes of which present day “conservative” nightmares are made.

    64,
I’d agree that Taylor Lorenz has occupied most of her professional life attending closely to popular, online culture.

Rational adults recognize some significant distinctions betwen popular culture and moral philosophy, foundational legal principles, and human ethics. Russel Brand was a very popular comedian at one time. He was also a heroin addict who committed multiple sexual assaults. Serial felons who abuse animals, commit murders, rape children, and defraud tens of thousands of innocent investors get popular syndicated televison shows. Kanye West has ardently held opinions about the moral and ethical world, while admiring Hitler and urging death to Jews.

Since long before Fat Hitler suspended the Constitution and began using the federal government to target and attack media critics, the Washington Post has been losing circulation and hoping to discover a magic cheat code to convince propeller headed millennials to subscribe to their newspaper. They are not the first, nor will they be the last to rely on “a bright young thing” to “reinvent” some part of their operation to make it more appealing.

Meanwhile, the Heritage Foundation, a think tank that purports itself to be specifically focused on reinvigorating a pure moral framework of modern political “conservatism” has employed as one of its fellows Christopher Rufo, who when he was caught red handed arranging extramarital sexual intercourse with complete strangers using a phone app attempted to use his own 13-year-old son as a human shield to take the fall for him.

We have made an arrest in connection to the February firebombing of a New Mexico Tesla dealership

A single instance that may fall within a scope of the federal statute, since it employs an explosive device.

Several factors, some or all of which must be proved.

Perpetrator traveled across state lines to carry out the bombing.
Perpetrator used the U.S. mail to carry out the bombing.
Perpetrator targeted a location or facility used in foreign or interstate commerce.
The bombing or threat of bombing would have directly affected interstate commerce.
The explosive device used or intended to be used meets the folllowing:
    “(B) any weapon that is designed or intended to cause death or serious bodily injury through the release, dissemination, or impact of toxic or poisonous chemicals, or their precursors; (C) any weapon involving a biological agent, toxin, or vector (as those terms are defined in section 178 of this title ); or (D) any weapon that is designed to release radiation or radioactivity at a level dangerous to human life;

Alternatively it’s an unregistered destructive device under itle 26, U.S.C., Section 5861 which carries a maximum 10.

I don’t know any of the facts of the case and neither does the Nazi Fucktard or his silly Xitter source who simply demands a news event from her “Acting” United States Attorneys.

This is fairly old news. The crimes took place months ago and the arrest, by local police, took place weeks ago. Local charges were filed March 27th. I commented at the time that it was very foolish for this criminal dickhead to build and carry around Molotov cocktails. Not only for the plainly obvious reasons. But also because explosive devices upgrade him to potential federal charges. But even before Propaganda Pam bigfooted this prosecution the state charges were stacked.

Now any state criminal proceedings will be suspended and Pammy will be laboring to turn a max ten year bit into forty, producing years of process and delay, because bitch can’t immunize state charges. The accused has almost no choice but to contest the federal charges all the way out, with no possibility of a plea.

“You know, in the old days about 1870 to 1913 the tariffs were the only form of money.” You went down to the baker and asked for some bread and it was 1/10th of a tariff. Then you went home and put a thick slice of Red Onion on the bread that you had to slice yourself and was the style at the time and then a little bit of cod liver oil and that was known as the Taj Mahal of sandwiches. My grandpa, who was Irish you know, once made a hell of a deal. He traded two tariffs and a horse for a hotel in the Washington territory and then brought in some of the most beautiful women but if you didn’t have a tariff to your name you couldn’t have a woman for the night. So people started bringing in chickens to try to give to Pappy instead of a tariff and he would take the chicken, rip off the head and have it for dinner and still not let the tariffless have a woman and that’s where the excellent old world ‘choke the groceries’ got started.

    Quite the whitewashing.

Israeli army opens fire on a group of medics, in clearly marked cars, with emergency lights on, then Israeli army opens fire on more medics who have come to see if their slain colleagues, then Israeli army bulldozes the bodies and the vehicles into a hole and covers it up but a civilian finds the cell phone belonging to one of the dead an a farewell video to his family that includes a final execution shot fired by an Israeli soldier gets out to the public.

NYT Headline doesn’t even mention who did the killings.

“Video Shows Aid Workers Killed in Gaza Under Gunfire Barrage With Ambulance Lights On.”

You are free to infer maybe Hamas fired. Or the guns fired themselves? Mass Suicide? ANYTHING but a war crime committed by Israel.

  114. 114

So you bought all those guns for 'Tyranical Government" or jus because you have a gun fetish? spews:

Groomed child bride twat at the podium.

“Look the President signed that executive order. It is the position of the President and this White House that it’s well within his authority to do it otherwise he wouldn’t have signed it um and he signed it and that’s his policy.”

The Maryland Detective, Ivan Mendez, who opened the case on Abrego Garcia was suspended from the force a few weeks after making the allegation that Garcia was MS-13 (dismissed by a court of law) just a few weeks later for passing confidential information about potential sweeps of prostitutes to a sex worker in exchange for sexual services.

Mendez pleaded guilty and received probation.

Why the WNBA is clearly the superior league.

Sedona Prince, TCU. Clearly has top 5 pick skills. But she left Texas under allegations that she refused to comply with medical staff treatment leading to an infection that left her in potential life threatening infection and unable to play. So she ends up at Oregon where she was to sit out a season but then never played because of an elbow injury that the rumor mill has it was the result of a domestic abuse incident (alleged, no Law Enforcement involvement). So she ends up at TCU and then it breaks that she has TWO allegations of Domestic Abuse from past girlfriends.

Undrafted. No WNBA Team wants all the baggage no matter how well she can ball.

Among all this, Hailey Van Lith (The Pride of Cashmere, WA), a teammate at TCU and allegedly am acquaintance of one of the unnamed accusers of Prince, spent the season quite clearly not speaking to Prince off the court and going out of her way NOT to be next to her in photographs after games got drafted #11 by the Chicago Sky where she will play with Angel Reece.

@113 Be careful. Posting this makes you a terrorist and will get you deported. Yes, I know you were born in the U.S., are a citizen, a taxpayer, and a veteran, but that makes no difference. You can’t say these things or there will be consequences. No, you won’t get a jury trial, or even a kangaroo trial. You’ll just disappear.

Hot-tempered Indiana woman told police she’s so “used to” going around with a gun, she wasn’t even aware she had a gun in her waistband when she barged into an elementary school to confront a teacher over a school assignment for her daughter.

Shes’s clearly had about enough of this bullshit:

Xinis: If I make finding of contempt, it will be based on record before me. And I don’t consider the transcript you gave me 15 minutes ago to be sufficient. Question is what you have done to facilitate release and what to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been sent.

I’ll remind everyone here that there are no business hours. It’ll be two weeks of “intense” discovery. Once we have record, take it from there.

Ensign: Transcript of oval office meeting sets forth evidence consistent w/ federal rules of civil procedure..

Xinis: We’re gonna do this by rule of civil procedure. Press conference won’t do. We’re gonna do interrogatories…follow rules…

It’s not going well for DOJ as the hearing continues.

Xinis: Have you done it? [Brought him back?] If you haven’t done it, speculative….

Ensign: If he presents at port of entry or embassy, he would be taken into US custody…this is narrow issue of what “facilitate” means

Xinis: I disagree, and I’m prepared to issue order on what facilitate means
    …
Translation (shut the fuck up I’m done with your bulllshit this is my fucking courtroom and you are trying to be cute.)

    Ensign mentions potential appeal.

Xinis: the Supreme Court has spoken, there is in my view nothing to appeal….So in my view we do discovery. Now, do you wish to be heard on scope of discovery?
