But the real money sequence comes at 19:00 minutes
    https://youtu.be/R93fjuWhFo0?feature=shared&t=1140

Great question. Great crowd response (the entire room stands and cheers for the question and some even begin chanting “lock him up”). But Spratz’s body language and demanor once the cheering dies down is absofuckinglutely priceless.

I can only add that I sincerely hope Democratic Party leadership can get their shit together and exploit this open frustration among the ranks of Republican voters for once. But that shouldn’t stop the rest of us. This shit needs to go viral. Most of this video footage of the crowd jeering and booing their own elected Republican Rep. is being sanitized by the media. They are reporting that it was a difficult confrontation for her. But they are clipping out the crowd reactions and most of her angry, confrontational response. It’s really going to be up to the rest of us to get this out.

@19 Spartz is an interesting case. Born, raised, and educated in Ukraine when it was part of the USSR, she’s very anti-socialist and anti-government. She’s a CPA and former real estate broker who entered politics via the Tea Party movement. She’s a three-term member of Congress representing a district in the Indianapolis exurbs who won her first election with only 50% of the vote, though the district is about 60-40 GOP leaning.

Spartz is unusually independent for a Republican, as shown by the fact she defied MAGA Mike’s entreaty to avoid townhalls; but make no mistake, she’s a hard-right Trump and DOGE supporter. And despite being an adulthood immigrant herself, she’s pro-border wall, pro-ICE, and anti-immigrant.

So yeah, even though Indiana is a deep red state, she’s out of sync with her constituents on the issues raised in the townhall, notably DOGE cuts to Medicaid etc., but unlike most Republicans she has enough brass to stand up and take it from a hostile crowd of constituents. That doesn’t make her admirable, though. Even by Indiana standards, her political positions suck.

This week’s Barrons magazine says “rural America sent Trump back to the White House” and now “farmers are at the trade war’s front lines.” They’re caught in a vise between retaliatory tariffs on agricultural exports and “rising costs for everything from labor to fertilizer.” And then there’s this tidbit:

The U.S. Department of Agriculture in February fired 6,000 employees as part of the rapid downsizing of the federal government led by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency. Some of the employees who were cut studied infectious diseases and pests that could decimate U.S. crops. In response to some farmers’ concerns, USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins this month said the department would bring many of those researchers back.

You know what? If I was one of those fired employees, and was making progress on lining up another job, I wouldn’t go back. The federal government is now an undependable employer you can’t plan to have a career with.

Even worse, when they fire you, they’ll ruin your professional reputation and compromise your ability to find other employment by falsely claiming you were fired for “poor performance” in order to get around legal impediments to laying you off.

And even if I went back to put food on the table, I’d keep looking for another job. Maybe even in Canada. There soon may be an agricultural export boom up north to fill the vacuum left by American farmers who no longer have export markets for their crops.

  45. 45

By the way, do any U.S. automakers still make cars? General Motors doesn’t unless you can afford a Cadillac. Ford and Dodge, a Stellantis brand, don’t unless you count the Mustang and Charger as a passenger cars. Stellantis offers other cars, but they’re all European brands.

So if you’re forced to buy American, you’re left with pickups, SUVs, crossovers, and vans. Even if you just want a Toyota or Honda sedan, you’re fucked. When a Camry costs as much as a Mustang, you might as well just sell the kids when it’s time to buy your next car.

Looks like a temporary solution to Amtrak Cascades rolling stock shortage caused by Amtrak pulling the Horizon coaches over corrosion issue has been found. On a railfan Facebook group, extra coaches have been spotted on the Cardinal and Lake Shore Limited, being switched at Chicago onto Train 7 bound for Seattle. Usual way Amtrak moves extra rolling stock to Seattle. So in the next few days, the Horoizons will be on the front of Amtrak 8 headed East. That will make the Empire Buulder’s nocturnal visit to Spokane interesting. I’ve observed the rendezvous with 28 from Portland a few times, 28 tends to get to Spokane first, where the locomotive has to be removed, and 8 overtakes it on the adjoining track, and the conductor has to guide the engineer over the radio to back up and couple to the rear coach of 28. 8 is going to be a few cars longer for a few days.

These are Amfleet coaches, while even older, I’ll give them a pass. They were some of the last coaches built by Budd. They were reliable.

In an interview with Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier”, Elon Musk said that he was confident his DOGE could find $1 trillion in savings, slimming current total federal spending levels of about $7 trillion down to $6 trillion. Musk, who is also the world’s richest man, was designated by the White House as a “special government employee,” which caps his work at 130 days. That means his period leading the DOGE operation could finish as soon as the end of May.

    53,
Biggest picture of all economically is the complete collapse of any form of forward-looking economic guidance thanks to the constantly shifting “feels” and “butt hurtz” of Fat Hitler.

Cowardly, groveling business leaders have no choice but to pretend that it’s all very normal and “really quite good” that they are sidelining investments because they can’t know from one day to the next what things are going to cost. And without investment growth grinds to a halt.

The natural tendency is for economic forecasting to be slightly biased in favor of optimism, based on the rational actor theory which assumes that market makers with access to the same data will respond in ways seeking their own interests. That assumption fails with Fat Hitler because he is not rational, he is incapable of comprehending the data, and he rejects any advice that doesn’t reinforce his biases and ratify his grievances.

Like many fascists, The Nazi Fucktard is frustrated and confused by the this movement to destroy the Tesla brand. They aren’t getting the street fights they are hoping for.

That’s because the organizers are disciplined, conscientious, and careful. They know that their efforts to organize are subject to monitoring and disruption by fascists like The Nazi Fucktard. So they keep their communications limited, and their operations organized and on a tight time schedule. This is actually generating some complaints from among regular American citizens yearning to take part who don’t know how to get the details. But the movement is not about memes and publicity. It’s about destroying the stock value that props up a Nazi oligarch.

The Nazi Fucktard and his buddies are all having a sad today because their U-haul trucks full of khaki dipshits went to the wrong locations and showed up an hour after the event ended.

    https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/30/politics/trump-third-term-methods/index.html

No, there are not, and he’s ignorant of how legal interpretation works. Courts interpret statutes and constitutional provisions according to their intent, not their literal wording.

When Congress and the required number of states adopted the 22nd Amendment, they intended no future president would hold the office for more than 10 years. You can’t get around this, there is no workaround consistent with the 22nd Amendment.

He could still serve a third term if the Supreme Court decides enforcing the 22nd Amendment is a “political question” for the people or Congress to decide, over which courts have no jurisdiction (it came close to doing that with the insurrection clause); but if it does that, we might as well not have a Constitution or courts.

“Ford to open 4 plants in the United States with 5000 high paying Jobs.

And like liberals wouldn’t applaud this. The issue would be, that it would be too good to be true without some type of subsidy, like bailout of farmers.

    Green energy subsidy = bad.

    Bailout farmers subsidy = crickets

@95 I don’t see “I’m sorry” there. An apology won’t fix what they did to our country, but it would be nice to hear one anyway.

@99 Imagine this scenario unfolding on January 21, 2029:

VICE PRESIDENT TRUMP: I thought we made a deal.

PRESIDENT VANCE: You know, I like this job, so I’m keeping it.

STILL VICE PRESIDENT TRUMP: A deal’s a deal, dammit!

STILL PRESIDENT VANCE: The people elected me, not you. See you at my State of the Union!

    The Trump economy:

With decision day looming this week for President Donald Trump’s latest round of tariffs, Goldman Sachs expects aggressive duties from the White House to raise inflation and unemployment and drag economic growth to a near-standstill.

Who the heck is Goldman Sachs? Oh, some little bank in New York. Probably a better source than the ones Doctor Dumbfuck uses for his gambling investing, though.

Small Trump-Supporting Community of Emmitsburg Maryland Shocked by National Fire Academy Closure
All in person classes have been cancelled. The DOGE spokesperson said. “We are only authorizing travel for mission critical programs. This isn’t one.”

    @ 108

    Voting for Republicans caused that.

No, a realization that there’s no reason for FEMA to pay travel expenses and tuition to train local fire fighters, and cover their Hooter’s and other adult entertainment expenses in the process, caused this.

It just took Republicans to bring this misuse of federal taxpayer dollars to light.

Seattle can pay for its own training. So can Spokane.
