    I have been following the saga of the SS United States for awhile. When she was built, she beat the Queen Mary in most operational categories. Like Cunard Line Hull 534, she was built with government money, but in the case of the BIG U was funding from the DoD as they saw how well the Queen Mary was as a troop ship. A tree fell and killed the operator of one of the lines light Diesel Multiple Units. At the very least, the area around the tracks should have been cleared of trees, but when this route began, it was on a corridor that is nearly 200 years old.     I’ve seen a poster in the comment threads of the above publication who is Libertarian leaning, and thinks the FRA regulations on these vehicles are an impediment. This accident proves otherwise, his words, the engineers seat on the Budd RDC was enough in the old days.

    10-12 precincts are reporting issues. Since it’s a problem with the wrong box being checked and brand new machines, this has every possibility of affecting precincts all over the place, and creating a real nightmare for officials.

    So please, amplify it and create even more reason for voters on one side or the other to dispute the election as fraudulent. Then we’ll get to see how your side behaves when it loses a presidential election that it thinks it really won.

After reading most of the book so far, I agree with 1 and 3, but 2 is a hard sell.

    Increasing the house and using MMP is something incumbents the author thinks might get behind, assuming it clears both houses, and 38 states within 7 years. No guarantee such amendment is ratified in a Census year. There seats will be safe.

    I was concerned whether the author suggested eliminating the mid-term, he doesn’t, but put safeguards on a potential change in Congress affecting the Presidency. The No Confidence vote needs to have at least one of the parties that elected the President behind it. The Presidential election would still be Quadrennial.

    I could see under a MMP scenario, the Democrats and Republicans losing elements that they think are dragging their party down. Also, Democrats might pick up that top up seat from Wyoming, and Republicans maybe Vermont, but Vermont already has a third party that wins seats in the Legislature. A state like Washington, using current districts, Democrats would probably not get any top up seats, but Republicans and Third parties might get the Top Up seats.
