    Tough news for you if you were even paying any attention.

    More massive and devastating attacks on huge strategic weapons storage facilities deep within Russian territory carried out independently by AFU apparently using advanced UAVs. Now a big chunk of Tihoretsky in Krasnodar is actively burning and exploding wiping out years worth of bombs, shells, warheads, and weapons systems.

    Still nobody knows precisely how AFU is carrying out these attacks. But given the complete absence of any warning, the massive scale of strategic loss and destruction, and the targeted locations deep, DEEP inside “protected” Russian airspace the implication is very clear.

    And the objective and result of these highly successful attack is also very clear.

    These attacks demonstrate that Russia has massive gaps in air defenses around key facilities including facilities located in Moscow Oblast. They cannot endure such losses and maintain their defense capability much less their ability to assault Ukraine.

    Russia will now have to redeploy air defense systems currently in use in Voronezh Oblast in Russia supporting glide bomb air missions used to attack pediatric hospitals, schools, and elder care facilities in Kyiv. That redeployment will leave strategic air wings highly vulnerable to standoff attack from NATO supplied F16 being operated now by AFU.

    The entities leveling this criticism have motivations that are either malign or not in any way aligned with the voters for whom they claim to advocate. The campaign is using other means to directly reach these voters with their messaging. The campaign is not interested in doing fan-service to appease media millionaires and billionaires.

    So while I agree that this is a stupid game with Lucy yanking away the football, the real point is that this is not a football worth kicking in the first place. Daily viewers of Hannity or Maddow are not important to the campaign because they will not decide the outcome of this election.

    Wall Street is pressuring GE to cut its dividend to free up cash to invest in its businesses. We’ll find out on Nov. 13 what the company decides. If you buy the stock today, you’re getting a yield on cost over 4%, and if they cut the dividend by a third, you’ll still get a dividend yield at about the S&P 500 average. You could also expect the cut to eventually be restored as cash flow and earnings improve.

    I think the changes will be good for the stock long-term. Other investors apparently agree, because the stock rose $1.73 today from its opening price of $22.10 to close at $23.83. GE actually posted a gain today after releasing its shitty earnings report. That’s a sign of investor confidence in the company’s long-term prospects.

    Only a dumbfuck would look at a one-day gain – a relief rally that the news of GE’s Q3 was not worse than feared – as a sign of investor confidence in the shares. The rally was people as stupid as Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit thinking a one-day gain meant anything.

    Oh, and within weeks of Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit’s positive comments about GE’s dividend, that dividend was slashed 96%.

    GE is one of my larger positions, and I’m comfortable with the idea of holding onto it. If you presently own it, you shouldn’t panic and sell it, and I think the current share price is a buying opportunity if you have the patience to wait 2 or 3 years for returns to materialize. It’s a solid company today and I think it will emerge from this transition as a stronger company down the road.

It won’t be a revival of the train Carter cut, the Floridian was routed via Nashville. The sleuthing was based on some people trying an advance booking for the Chicago-Washington DC Capitol Limited and New York-Miami Silver Star. Into the foreseeable future, the Family Bedrooms on the Capitol are unavailable, so is most sleeper accommodations on the Silver Star north of Washington DC. The situation with the Capitol was the give away, as the Family Bedroom is unique to only one type of Amtrak Coach, the Superliner Sleeper, 1 per car, on the lower level.

    Saw today on social media sites, Amtrak is negotiating with host railroads for the rumored new routing. If it happens, the suggested Capitol Star could use Viewliner/Amfleet rolling stock, allowing for Amtrak to reposition Superliners, current only two routes East of the Mississippi use them, while I believe they can run under the overhead wire, the tunnels of the NEC are a different story, as well as platform issues at NYP. Probably use the Superliners in the California Zephyr and the Empire Builder. The EB could always use the capacity. Off season currently, Train 8 usually leaves Seattle with just one coach in the coach section(along with a Dorm car, 1 or 2 sleepers and the Diner), and the times I rode it, that coach is usually sold out. Even a few people riding just to Edmonds.

    Wished this option was available to Seattle Transit in 1963,, May have avoided some of the mass dieselization. Part of the reason was extending the network into areas north of 85th Street. The old trolley network I believe, reused the streetcar substation network. Also, Seattle Transit avoided new routes until late in its existence, and one of those new routes was to get the activists in the Central District off their backs. The only current Diesel to Trolleybus conversion planned, is the route that ST created to silence the CD, the 48, although at the time the residents would have settled for the bus that replaced the streetcar systems 23rd Ave Shuttle. Seattle Transit mainly feared it would take revenue away from the existing East-West routes(turned out to be unfounded).

    Now, the current trolley fleet is reaching its halfway mark, and Metro is in the middle of tripling the battery capacity. It’s a big contract, the trolleybus fleet is the biggest it’s been since 1962, at about 175 vehicles, even if the route networks isn’t. Takes about 20 vehicles for 7.5 minute headways on Rt7.

    The most immediate effect of the upgrade, could be the end of weekend dieselizations. Would show metro is serious about electrification.     Other routes that could see the boosted battery could be partial electrification of Rt 60, as it already travels under wire on Beacon Hill, 9th Ave, and Broadway.     The Vietnam veterans clearly got the short end of the stick. At some point in the 1980s, I wrote to Senator Slade’s office suggesting some kind of student debt relief for Vietnam veterans, but got back a churlish letter that basically said shut up and pay your debts.

    I never forgot that, and around that time I stopped voting for Republicans altogether. When Republicans wrapped their fingers around bankruptcy “reform,” they made student debt non-bankruptable, made it harder for individuals to discharge medical and consumer debt, and made it easier for big corporations and the Donald Trumps of the world to serially stiff their creditors.

    The next time you hear some Republican bleating, “debts are a moral obligation that must be repaid no matter what,” ask him what kind of debt he’s talking about and how many times he’s shucked his business debts through Chapter 7 or Chapter 11.
