He probably would have loved tge Toronto cops that ticketed a streetcar operator for blocking an intersection on the King St route, which is a transit priority route, but Toronto cops added that to list of rules and laws protecting Toronto’s streetcars they ignore. Also supposed to ticket motorists who pass a stopped streetcar on the right, which is a no no, because as Toronto never abandoned streetcars, they have plenty of legacy infrastructure. Most old streetcar systems had the tracks on the inside lanes, not tge curb. The streetcars have signs on the back saying not to pass when the doors are open, but a motorist disobeying speed limits probably can’t see the sign. The cop, while he was writing the ticket seemed to want to torment the passengers, ordered them out of the vehicle while he was writing the tickets, then threatened the next operator who asked what was going on. Meanwhile, the traffic he thought he was unblocking by ticketing the streetcar got worse, imagine a line of 100ft streetcars backed up for blocks.

I remember hearing the story of a Seattle Transit/Metro driver driving a trolleybus allegedly standing up to a Seattle Cop who gave him a ticket for allegedly the tip of his pole not clearing the intersection before going red. He decided a little Civil Disobedience was in order when the cop also asked him to drop the poles while he wrote the ticket. The story I heard was that the cop was dissatisfied with his Sgt when he showed up. The sgt wasn’t happy with the cop creating a traffic jam in downtown for a ticket. He was told, get back in his vehicle, drive down the street and radio when he didn’t see a bus. I like the story, but haven’t found any authentication of it. Although driving those older trolleys needed nerves of steel, and probably a lot of guesswork if they could make the light. This incident may have been on the pre-1978 network that had fewer substations and more feeder cables in addition to the main wire, and the switches. Drivers had to be careful (I’ve toured the older ones during the Trolley network’s 60th anniversary, there was a placard on them advising passengers of the slow going). I think the drivers name was Paoli or something like that, later was an assistant coach at O’Dea and then Blanchett.
