    It sounds to me like there’s no military imperative preventing a temporary ceasefire. If IDF can pause military operations in exchange for hostages, then it can pause military operations to allow humanitarian aid to reach innocent Gaza civilians.

    The very notion of using humanitarian aid as trading stock is repulsive (but sooooo Bibi). It also won’t work, because Hamas obviously doesn’t give a damn about the civilians.

    Democrats should be careful and strategic in how we go about this. Which cuts we reverse, and by how much is not to be overlooked.

    The Reaganomics ERTA of 1981 gave a massive cut to very high wage earners while giving a much more modest cut to the lower end of wages. The resulting shift in overall tax burden to lower wage earners and to future generations through massive Reagan deficits, fell disproportionately on the backs of younger workers. Blindly restoring all of those taxes on wages at the very point where the same generational cohort of wage earners is just entering their peak earning years could very easily be construed as just more of the same generational warfare.

    Democrats need to embrace a comprehensive overhaul of the tax code that treats wages for work more favorably than passive income. America needs workers. Our tax code should reflect that.
