Sound Transit’s T-Line is at the moment, an isolated one line system in Tacoma at a little over a mile in length, with three Czech-made streetcars.     When I was in Tacoma, I expected the sales tax on my purchase to be lower, because the last time Pierce Transit went to the voters with a Sales Tax measure, it failed, and rightfully so. They excised several cities from their district that voted no on a previous one, including Sumner. Pierce Transit rate is .6%, ST is 1.4%, so that puts it at 8.5%. Although shopping in Tacoma is just slightly more than Seattle, 10.3% vs 10.25%, but Metro has a sales tax of .9%, and the Seattle TBD tax adds .15%.Urban Snohomish County outside of Everett has Seattle and Tacoma beat, with the special exemption given to community transit, an extra .3% above the cap other non-RTA public transit entities are limited to. Although the exemption doesn’t mention Community Transit by name, it’s a special population threshold that only CT qualifies for.

    Will be interesting to see how Community Transit transitions to serving local riders when LINK reaches Lynwood. Tge 400 routes should be drastically reduced or eliminated, with 401/402 alone freeing up many hours. Someone at work loved to praise CT’s SWIFT routes, but apparently never rode it outside of opening weekend. I have used it many times myself, and while the Blue and Green lines are frequent, separate CT routes(ET within Everett) handle local traffic in the corridor, connecting service at transfer points that are not major hubs leave a lot to be desired.

    Anderson Aldrich, the Club Q shooter, was arrested in 2021 after an armed standoff with police and charged with six felonies. But he was not prosecuted. The Colorado, El Paso County DA has not commented on why the case was dropped.
