    About my post at 2, surprised some haven’t noticed that Edmonton is a victim of so-called cancel culture. When Warren Moon was in Edmonton, the team was called the Eskimos. Although it appears Elks fans have embraced the change, even new slogans like Antler Up, performance on the field suffered. Not one victory at Commonwealth Stadium. Although they did have one great victory, marched into Calgary’s McMahon Stadium and beat tge Stampeders. I’m a Stampeders fan because I try to support my former EWU Eagles. Still mad at Seahawks management for letting me Rams get Cooper Kupp, who grew up in the Seahawks backyard.

    As for Edmonton, at least they didn’t go years as just the Edmonton Football Club, again. Although for 2020, the season was canceled by the Pandemic.

    The Stampeders are celebrating their 75th Anniversary, and celebrating their groundbreaking 1948 team in particular. Toronto wasn’t prepared for Calgary fans in the Grey Cup that year, and the team was great too, winning the top trophy in Canadian Football. The team included Normie Kwong one of the first Chinese Canadians in the Grey Cup, and youngest player ever in the Grey Cup, and African American Woody Strode(Sgt. Rutledge and Man Who Shot Liberty Valance are two films he starred in). The 1948 Stampeders are the CFL equivalent of the 1972 Miami Dolphins, only undefeated season in Canadian Professional Football.

But quite a lot of the $88 billion cost comes from reducing the taxable income of affluent, upper income workers to offset taxes they have already paid. We can quibble endlessly about who is a “wealthiest American”. But in cities where monthly rents for studio apartments start at $1800, and where median home prices begin at $1 million, an AGI of $200k is not a reasonable definition of “wealthy”.

    I don’t think Blubbering Baby Bubba should be convicted of murder. There’s just no evidence that he went to Kenosha intending to kill someone (first degree murder), or killed out of passion or malice (second degree murder); to my way of thinking, convicting him of manslaughter is a better fit with the facts of the case. The illegal gun possession charge, of which he’s clearly and blatantly guilty, ought to be a felony, though. There are degrees of crime (e.g., misdemeanor and felony assault), and illegally possessing an AR-15 in a riot isn’t the same as possessing it in a backyard or a gravel pit, because the danger to society isn’t the same.     Yesterday, took a bus trip up to Bellingham. As I was coming into Mount Vernon on the homeward leg, saw the Skagit River, looks like it was getting close to topping the banks.

    The Whatcom Transit Authority is impressive for a system it’s size. Although they and Skagit Transit are connected by just one route, the 80X, they do seem to have a high degree of interoperability. Besides sharing the operation of the 80X, they also use the same fare equipment, including smartphone payment app, and fare capping. Would like to see Sound Transit an it’s partners adopt it on the ORCA System, at least for local bus service. On Skagit Transit and WTA, the cap kicks in at $3 in a day. The SKAT local fare is a dollar, so after 3 rides in a day, all remaining rides the user has that day are effectively a day pass. So, a fare capping policy at METRO would be kicking in at $5.50, two rides at $2,75, similar to how TriMet does it.
