    Specifically, St. HOPE obtained an $850,000 AmeriCorps grant intended to help tutor local students, redevelop some buildings, and enhance “theater and art programs.” Walpin’s team, however, discovered that the money “had been used instead to pad staff salaries, meddle politically in a school-board election, and have AmeriCorps members perform personal services for Mr. Johnson, including washing his car,” the Journal reported.

    What kind of person brags to complete and total strangers about a long history of attacking women and molesting their genitals? What kind of person makes jokes about that?

    It’s not a difficult question to answer. It’s not about “generational perspectives” on gender and sexuality. In four years I have not found one single man or woman of his generation who is willing to confess to admiring that kind of talk, “locker room” or otherwise. They have no “friends” who speak this way. No old school mates. No club members. No colleagues. No golf partners. And certainly no business partners. Uniformly they all report abhorring and rejecting the behavior and the jokes about it and describe it as “vile” or even “criminal”.

    Sixty three million so-called conservatives listened to the tape of Trump bragging about attacking women and molesting their genitals. And despite each and every one of them recognizing it as pathological behavior, they did not care. They voted to make a person they recognized as suffering from a pathological mental disorder their president.

    Of course shit has gone wrong. Of course he isn’t up to the job. Yes, he’s morally corrupt, hates women, hates minorities, and has no capacity for empathy. And those are bad enough traits in a president. But he’s also obviously mentally ill. Criminally so, if we are to take his own word for it. Crazy people are shitty at running things. They don’t think clearly. And in Trump we can find no finer example of that.

    Crazy people break shit. Maybe that’s what so-called conservatives wanted four years ago. But nobody should kid themselves that now, suddenly, Trump has become either same or competent. I’m betting that most people want the breaking of shit to stop now. I’m betting that most people want a federal government that can function a little better than this. With the economy is a free fall and a deadly plague burning like wildfire through our communities most people want a postal system that can deliver ballots, and a CDC that can order tests.
