When a small business owner who voted for Donald Trump posted a video on TikTok recently, pleading for help because the crushing tariffs on China were about to bankrupt his operation — which, he said, imports alloy wheels — he found little comfort from a slice of his fellow Americans.
Votes have consequences, he was told.
He was mocked for his
a) economic ignorance;
b) hypocrisy on judging people on their decency while voting for Trump, one of the least decent men to hold the office — and a guy elected, in part, because of his lack of decency; and
c) voting for a candidate who made no secret that he, if elected, he would victimize the most marginalized groups in the country, or thinking that as a white guy, he’d be safe.
