It’s Tuesday, and that means the Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally will be getting together to talk politics and share good cheer over drinks. Please stop by if you wish.

The Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally meets every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern (2409 10th Ave E, Seattle) starting at 8pm out on the back patio. Some folks may meet in the back room of the pub.

Chapters of Living Liberally are all over the place…if you can’t make it to the Seattle chapter, there is probably another nearby chapter for you.

    So it appears that SBF made roughly $80 million of illegal campaign donations in 2022, most of it with customers’ money, split roughly equally between Democrats and Republicans, and motivated more by influence-buying than political ideology. He also made straw man donations.

    It also appears that millions of dollars of customer money went for personal luxuries. The guy who took over FTX to manage its bankruptcy is calling it “an old-fashioned case of embezzlement.”

    I’d guess SBF is looking at 20 years, maybe more.

    The World’s Formerly Richest Man™ isn’t just losing his ass on Twitter; his unpopularity is dragging down his other businesses, too. Among the “green” set, Tesla has gone from cool to toxic. It doesn’t help that they spontaneously self-combust, either.

    “Shares in electric vehicle maker Tesla have fallen 28% since October 27, when CEO Elon Musk bought Twitter and appointed himself ‘Chief Twit,’ or CEO, of the social media business. By way of comparison, other major automakers like Ford, GM and Volkswagen are slightly up since Oct. 27, as is BYD, a Chinese company that makes electric vehicles and batteries.”

    A Woodinville man embroiled in a custody dispute went to the Snohomish County courthouse with “two rifles, four handguns, over 300 rounds of ammunition, a ballistic armor vest, multiple ballistic armor inserts, six knives, a hatchet and brass knuckles” thinking that would make someone listen to him.

They have also instructed employees to not pay vendors in anticipation of potential litigation. Mr. Musk’s team has also deliberated the merits of not paying severance to the thousands of people who have left the company since he took over, when there were about 7,500 full-time employees.

    Too many conservatives see sex like they see elections. It all well and good if the woman ( or young boy in Republican Denny Hastert’s case ) or the electorate chose them willingly, but if conservatives get rejected, ignoring what the partner and electorate want and taking what they want by force, is a perfectly good next step.

    Definitely worth it to Democrats.

    Re-platforming Nazis, lunatic Kraken hustlers, Klan Kurious “free thinkers”, and Men’s Rights incels to resume degrading and toxifying “modern conservatism” is how they got saddled with Trump in the first place. And then later on all the many wonderful mini-Trumps.

    No suburban “moderate” voter is pretending that these people are anything but what they are anymore. The more the GOP becomes wedded to Nick Fuentes the better. If Elon really wanted to help Mitch and Kevin he’d crush the ultra MAGA, right wing cockroaches and deprive them of their sources of finance.

    But Elon is so desperate to stop the hemorrhaging that it appears he hopes to monetize online extremism instead. It might actually work, too. But it will transform Twitter into even more of a sewer. And it will be a sewer swimming with “quality” Republican candidates being drawn into saying all the quiet parts out load and on record for all eternity.

    This is a good thing for Democrats.
