    6h

    Here’s reality:

According to experts tracking federal COVID spending, as much as $800 billion of the roughly $6 trillion that has been approved by Congress in the last two years for the pandemic is currently unspent.

The biggest chunk of that total, by far, comes from the American Rescue Plan. That legislation included billions of dollars to directly counter the virus through vaccine distribution and testing. But the majority of the cash went toward broader relief measures like state and local government aid, renters’ assistance, and support for K-12 schools.

Nearly a year after that legislation passed, however, the vast majority of the almost $200 billion allocated to K-12 schools has not been spent. The same goes for half of the $195 billion sent out to state governments. And most city and county governments have not spent much of the $130 billion they collectively received, either.

Now, that piece was written January 20, but it’s probable that there are more unspent billions of COVID-19 aid languishing in state and local accounts than the Democrats want Congress to appropriate to cover its “emergency”.

    What Degen is missing:

DOJ is meeting its statutory duty and turning investigative information and evidence over to the committee in a timely manner consistent with the rules for discovery and due process rights of the accused.

Something that did not happen when Bill Barr was running things.

It’s been a little over a year, and one difference that is flagrantly obvious to voters is that with the change of administration from GOP to Democrat, criminals who attack our country get caught, get prosecuted, and go to jail in public proceedings where everyone can see what happened.

That’s a problem for Ginny Thomas.

Imagine being this incompetent at your job, exercising such incredibly and obviously poor judgement in the performance of your assigned work duties, and being this completely disrespectful of your employers while doing it, and not losing your job for it.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10616467/Met-Police-strip-searched-black-girl-school-thought-smelled-cannabis.html

If you are a police officer that’s very easy to imagine. In fact, if you are a police officer it’s your expectation.
And you would not be wrong.

Think about this when you read about the “crisis” in public trust of police and see that “crisis” being blamed on “BLM” or “ANTIFA” or “agitators”. It’s absolutely true, there is a massive crisis and collapse of public trust and support for police all over the world. That crisis perfectly coincides with the widespread use of smartphones with video, private video surveillance cameras, and the adoption of body worn cameras.

For decades public trust in police was propped up by a juggernaut industry of badge sucking, boot licking entertainment designed to portray police as heroic blue knights slaying dragons. It all collapsed the minute the public gained access to the truth.
Truth is to blame for the collapse of public trust in police.

    @ 29

DOJ is meeting its statutory duty and turning investigative information and evidence over to the committee in a timely manner consistent with the rules for discovery and due process rights of the accused.

Not quite. Statutory duty, yes. But “the rules for discovery and due process rights of the accused” aren’t the same when Congress is directly involved.

It seems that Congress exempted itself from FOIA responses and the like, and Pelosi & Co. are unwilling to give up the video recordings other than those that Congress itself is willing to make public.

Shawn Musgrave filed a lawsuit in Washington, D.C., federal district court on Wednesday asking a judge to recognize a “common law right of access” to congressional records, which are exempt from public records laws like the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

“The result of FOIA inapplicability, in combination with almost nothing requiring further transparency to the public from these offices, has roundly led to low transparency and high secrecy,” the complaint reads. “This lack of transparency has become even more apparent in the face of increased public interest in congressional security in the wake of 6 January.

“However, these offices are subject to the common law right of access to public records, as all three branches of government are subject to that right.”

So yes, by statute DOJ is doing what it should, although DOJ is making no effort to release video other than that video which aids its position.

Selective release of video has always been a problem for QoS McHillbilly when it’s police body cam video. Somehow in the January 6 cases, not so much.

Turns out there are still some House Democrats who have a chance to win re-election. They’re pretty unhappy with First Vegetable Joe Biden’s Iran negotiations, which threaten their potential success.

→ Democrats complained the Biden administration hasn’t been selling a potential Iran deal to Capitol Hill or the public. Not just the parameters of any accord, but also how the administration will handle the expected political controversy. Furthermore, they say the administration should do a better job spelling out why an agreement between the U.S. and Iran is needed now.

→ Lawmakers complained they have been requesting a briefing for months on the status of the talks. Democrats are concerned that there’s no comprehensive strategy to deal with Iran and that the Biden administration is only focused on getting an agreement, not the long-term consequences for U.S. allies in the region.
    …
→ The rank-and-file Democrats expressed concerns about lifting sanctions on Iranian oil sales at this time. They worried that it would appear that the United States was easing up on the regime because of high oil prices due to the war between Ukraine and Russia. One House Democrat said it seemed as if the United States was “selling our soul” for oil.

Trump ended Soleimani to show that he was serious about protecting American interests. Biden wants to give Iran whatever it wants to cover for his diastrous economic decisions, and to let Russia call the shots after the deal is signed, to show that American interests are wholly unimportant to him if they come at the expense of The Biden Crime Family.

And if it takes down a few more House Democrats in November, hey, sometimes to bake a corrupt cake ya gotta break a few moderate eggs. It’s not as if Biden will face the voters ever again.

    Please don’t answer. Please.
You’re too fucking stupid to attempt to morph from online public health expert to macroeconomics expert to online Ukraine security expert to federal criminal procedural expert in the same month.

Saying something isn’t the same thing as showing it.

It’s been over a year. “Conservatives” have exhausted themselves in fervent prayer anticipating some minor fuckup by DOJ in conducting the prosecutions of these terrorists that they could exploit. The desire for that has so completely consumed them that they’ve turned to fabrication to give themselves a bonfire of outrage around which they could gather and warm themselves in the cold night of their decline.

But these prosecutions have been, to borrow a word from TFG, “perfect”. Letter of the law perfect. Nothing for any defense appeal to gain a foothold on. A perfect prosecution machine.
And it is driving them insane.

Guess what else is exempted from FOIA:
