Interesting statistic … about 140,000 more voters are choosing one of the Republican candidates on the replacement question, than are voting Yes to recall Governor Newsom.
Weird. Why are more voters (absolute numbers, not percentages – many or most D’s abstained on the replacement question) choosing one of the Republicans to take over the Governor’s office, than are choosing to remove Newsom from office?

each state’s unofficial total, and later certified total is a public record released to publication immediately. Anyone who can do simple math and count to 270 knew within days of November 3rd who the President-elect was.
But the Republican Senate Majority Leader ignored all that and waited until Jan. 6th following an armed attack on the Congress and an attempt on the life of the Vice President to recognize it. Among other things, that prolonged delay interfered with any kind of normal presidential transition. Every single aspect of Executive branch operations was impacted. And this goes beyond the active sabotage engaged in by Trump, Meadows, and lesser operatives.
California should reform the recall process. Possibly just make it the line of succession.

A rout. A stunning humiliation. An embarrassment. And now a new California record. Republicans have made Newsom the most successful politician in California history and solidified their own irrelevance in California for decades to come.
Something everyone should look at very carefully is the extreme disconnect between some major midsummer poll results and these ballot results in the California recall.
You can either conclude that massive numbers of likely voters polled reversed themselves 180 degrees in a few weeks.
Or you can conclude that the likely voter models are dangerously flawed.
The media will lean hard into that first narrative because that “come from behind win” story has more drama and excitement.
But that’s almost certainly incorrect.
We need a clear understanding of precisely how the likely voter models failed in California to prepare for midterms next year.

Looked like it backfired on Trudeau, but while the Conservatives were ahead in the popular vote, in Canada, it depends on where the support comes from. Biggest loser in the California recall would have to be Cox.
Second biggest loser would have to be all “moderate” California Republicans who backed him and the recall, and in so doing handed the entire state party to Larry Elder for the foreseeable future.
While Cox was forced to self fund, Elder raised and spent $15 million – twice as much as Cox. Elder is now the presumptive challenger in the next statewide race and will control fundraising and Republican focus until then.
It’s a nearly perfect outcome.
