It’s election day in Kentucky, too, a state whose immature GOP voters may give their party’s immature governor a second term (let’s hope not). The statehouse is in play, and the Orange Pied Piper apparently is worried enough that he made a special trip to Knoxville to plead to the Republican children to fall in line behind his flute.
Kentucky is the state that gave us Moscow Mitch and Rand Paul. The latter, speaking at last night’s rally, “called on the media to out the whistleblower,” which arguably constitutes soliciting a criminal act for which he could be prosecuted, because revealing a whistleblower’s identity is a federal crime (pork sauce take note).
Anyway Kentucky is one of those states you should fly over or drive around, not through, just to avoid any potential problems if you know what I mean. At least that’s my advice.
This being Election Day here in Washington and several other states, I’d just like to remind everyone that a Republican is someone who fervently believes Native Americans shouldn’t be allowed to vote unless they walk 50 miles to a polling place and African-Americans, college students, and poor people shouldn’t be allowed to vote at all. But here on HA, we’re not Republicans,* and we believe every American citizen should be allowed and encouraged to vote.**
* HA, like any open forum, attracts trolls but currently has no trolls who admit being Republicans.
** Except, of course, for certain trolls who deny being Republicans.

Democrats apparently won the Kentucky statehouse, but it looks like Mississippi won’t be close. The other big non-local election tonight is in Virginia, where Democrats are within easy reach of flipping both legislative houses and gaining control over the next redistricting. Even a few GOP losses there will radically change the state’s political complexion by giving Democrats complete control of state government.

63, A couple months ago, got a free iPad through Sprint with the Tablet Plan, just had to pay the tax, about $40. It was at their Factoria store, so the ST portion went to East LINK. There is a good app that seems to be only available in iPad, called Pantograph, it’s different than One Bus Away, tracks the vehicles, instead of arrival status. Used it to compare RapidRide E(Aurora Villiage to Downtown) vs. LINK at Peak Capacity, number of vehicles used. To maintain a headway of 10 minutes or less, the E needs up to 22 buses an hour. LINK, at Peak headway, 18 trains, a mix of 2 and 3 car. Without buses in the DSTT, LINK is way better on on time performance.

Lying under oath and lying to law enforcement are criminal violations that absolutely hang on intent. It’s a big reason why prosecutors rarely bring indictments in such instances. And frankly, no lawyer you know has not had to sit through a deposition listening to stupid smug pricks tell what they know are lies, all the while knowing that the liar is going to get away with it.
But the fact remains it always can be a crime to tell a falsehood to law enforcement officers or in a sworn proceeding. Which is why most of the time lawyers advise their clients to shut the fuck up. And as is so often the case, when a lawyer finds themselves representing a client who they have reason to believe gave “inaccurate” testimony a good lawyer seeks to assist them in repairing that mistake.
It’s was pretty clear that Robert Luskin has been stressed out about his representation of billionaire Douche Nozzle “Gordo” Sondland when last month he lost his shit and physically attacked an NBC correspondent for asking his client questions. Sondland seems to be one of these guys who really believes his own hype, that having a pile of money certifies him as the smartest guy in the room. But that can’t make life easy for Luskin.
And now it looks like smart guy “Gordo” may have just dug the hole deeper. It looked to me at least like Luskin had deftly navigated the mine field of having a client who probably committed perjury, and also probably lied like a piece of shit to his own lawyer while doing so. Lesser attorneys would have quit. And by lesser I really mean less avaricious because Sondland is nothing if not good for the billings. But Luskin did yeoman’s work negotiating an opportunity for his client to go back up the hill and “repair” his faulty memory in testimony yesterday.
In doing so he would have explained to his client in excruciating detail how important it was for him to be absolutely truthful in his second appearance. Because nobody ever gets a second Mulligan. Now this morning we are already learning that yesterday he probably wasn’t truthful either. And that because of that testimony Trump and his allies on the hill are going to throw Sondland under the bus and try to hang as much on him as they can.
The next sound we hear will be Luskin quit/firing his stupid client, leaving Sondland entirely alone in this drug deal escapade with a dozen high powered attorneys accusing him of lying under oath before Congress, potentially facing charges of perjury, and with his own political party set to begin the ritual flensing.
I wonder if that’s what Bob’s says to the Horse at morning breakfast.
