We meet tonight and every Tuesday evening at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern, 2409 10th Ave E, Seattle. The starting time is 8:00 pm, but some folks show up before that for dinner.




Can’t make it to Seattle tonight? Check out one of the other DL meetings this week. Tonight the Tri-Cities chapter also meets. On Wednesday, the Bellingham and Burien chapters meet. And next Monday, the Yakima and South Bellevue chapters meet.

    Some people defend gun by saying that “should we make knives illegal”, with the notion that if a person didn’t have a gun then they would use a knife for the same outcome.

    They have openly declared their own purpose of ignoring lawbreaking by Corporations, and taking active steps in supporting foreign and domestic Corporations who do break the the few remaining laws while promoting the “benefits” of direct payouts from the national Treasury, at taxpayers expense, even when those Corporations are taking active and overt steps to supplant the rule of Law and reduce or eliminate the ability of the Congress and State Legislatures to perform their sworn duties to hone and enforce the law against them.

    This is why they lie so openly. They know damn well that their program isn’t about supporting the national economy or protecting the working class from being robbed and killed by their employers or the other commercial interests that everyone must do business with in order to survive. It’s all about chopping up the national identity to manufacture a power vacuum, that they can then easily step into and recreate a whole new system for themselves to suit their own ideological construct. The Constitution is anathema to that new construct. That existing Rule of Law is in direct conflict with it.

    That construct is: Eliminating every recourse now available to the ordinary common citizen to seek justice for themselves by preventing any single group or system of citizen organizations from influencing the system; taking active and overt steps to remove available activities that would mitigate the negative aspects of that new system (especially public protest), and creating an illusory system of Law that presents a means for the common citizen to petition for redress of grievances, but is designed specifically to remove legal definitions of those grievances and interfere directly with the individual’s or citizen’s organizations that would support those petitions.

    That’s where the whole idea of Tort Reform comes from. It isn’t about preventing frivolous lawsuits, it is about eliminating Citizens access to the Court System altogether. 90% of all lawsuits are filed by Corporations against other Corporations. The system is now being reshaped to support that aspect of Law, but in a way that all but eliminates the ability of the common citizen to participate in it. This is why you now have service contracts with telecommunications, pharmaceutical manufacturers, insurance and finance companies that require any dispute to be resolved completely outside the Court system. If they rip you off, fuck you over, screw up your business or do something that gets you killed or injured, you go into arbitration, and that just means their Lawyers, and your Lawyers have a meeting or two to “split the difference”, so to speak and no sworn Judge is even involved. Even if the company one has the dispute with has totally broken the law.

    Within that new system, there is no “right” to petition the Government for redress of grievance.

    That is what the “Tea” party is all about. That is Fascism.

    I look at this as the straw that broke the camels back. The right wants to focus on the straw, and not look further into the real problem, of what broke the camels back. They bury their heads in the sand, never looking deeper into the possible and potential problems. “Global warming doesn’t exist” “Racism doesn’t exist”, or with Puffy’s stupid affirmation, that it only really exists because of liberals are the racists. Puffy hasn’t been able to figure it out – he claims that racism exists but then ignores the reality of any racism from the right – he is so confused his head spins. When Ferguson first broke, didn’t Puffy scream Police brutality on a black guy?

    As some of you may have know, I reversed my initial position, at first, based on information in the media, I felt that the killing was unjust. Then based on other media reporting, I later felt that the “victim” was partly accountable for the circumstances that involved him. My present feeling is that justice could have been better served if a trial were held, so that all the facts could be presented in court and any finding of of innocence by the jury would have had a better outcome than the present outcome. I am not naive to think that there wouldn’t be any rioting even at that point, but maybe more people would have accepted the outcome without rioting. And it seems that some people feel that the Grand Jury or the Prosecutor of the Grand Jury didn’t do the right thing.

    Regardless of what you want to think about what happened in Ferguson, you should at least be able to have a broader discussion regarding what really is at stake here and what ails this country with respect to the possible miss treatment of black people and what really created this situation.

    Don’t get me wrong, I feel that the black community could be more accountable for their every day actions, but probably no more than white people too. But to think that their isn’t a problem here with possible injustice to black people, whether it be because of their own fault or outside forces, is just burying your head in the sand, and not wanting to admit that your unwillingness to accept that is just because you don’t want to look at yourself in the mirror.

    Seems like we can’t be calling out other Countries on how they may unfairly treat their own people, when we can’t even stand together in this Country and solve our own problems. We can’t lead, if we don’t even have our shit together. We get in the middle of the business of other countries not because we care about the people, but only because we have other interests, like Oil.

    I’d rather not have the violence and the disruptions caused by the protesters, but I honestly can’t say that they have no beef.

    We have some people “riot” after a professional team wins a championship or some large party by college kids. We may look at it the same way, like it will pass and didn’t effect me, so let’s just disregard it, but those people actually had no reason to do what they did.

    Stop playing politics, stop bickering about the Ferguson case itself and start talking about all that brought us to where we are. And I don’t have to go into everything that brought us here, I think you know what brought us where we are today.

    My black husband agreed with all those rules. There is a different standard applied to black people, especially, dark skinned black people.
