GOP has lost the election, even if McCain wins. He’s certainly no conservative. Opposition to letting The Producers keep THEIR FUCKING MONEY, amnesty, letting dems pack the courts with activist judges, global warming, gitmo, acting like he thought of the surge, or just generally being an asshole… he’s unfit for the office.
If he’s the nominee, I’m not going to vote for Preznit. Instead, I’ll focus my efforts on re-electing Rossi for the FOURTH fucking time.

Hey Goldy – Howzit feel getting bitch slapped by the invisible hand?
LMAO you fucking loser…
I listened to your last show for a while. The “wonk” thing cracked me up. So you fancy yerself an intellectual huh? That was the funniest shit I’ve heard in a long time.
You’re just another fucking loser moonbat. How fucking long is it gonna take for you to figure out that you’re going to have to get a real job that creates value. Tell me, do you have any marketable skills?

She is right, and I said it here yesterday. The D’s and R’s are an inch apart.
JamesA spews:
Mark – I guess if you want to define ‘conservative’ as Big Government, big spending, anti-privacy, dimplomaticly inept, pro-torture and willing throwing basic civil liberties out the window at the first sign of an outside threat, then yes, McCain is not a conservative.
But if you are one of the few remaining traditional small government conservatives, then you are smart enough to know the Republican party walked away from basic ‘conservative’ principals the minute they elected the current bunch of Republican cowards.
Truth Teller or Something Else spews:
Not that I think the Repubs have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning the Presidency this year, but McCain really isn’t such a bad choice for the party that idolizes Reagan. McCain and Reagan agree on immigration (remember the 1986 amnesty bill), national defense, and cutting domestic spending, along with the social issues like abortion. You’d think that would be close enough for conservatives. They disagree on tax cutting though; Reagan was OK with running a deficit with lower tax rates and McCain is not. I guess that is the death knell for McCain.
My Goldy Itches spews:
Yawn.
Mark The Redneck-Rabbit spews:
TSWITW will get the dem nom. The machine is too powerful.
But here’s the dream ticket: McCain/Obama. They agree on almost everything, and Obama would get a chance to study under an adult to get some actual experience that he so sorely lacks now.

rhp6033 spews:
I don’t like any of the Republican nominees, but I am absolutely astounded at the amount of hatred the far right has for McCain – especially since they complain that he is “too liberal”. Given the fact that less than 1/3 of the voters now are willing to identify themselves as being Republican, and it appears that a majority of them are seeing McCain as the lesser of several evils, that means that just goes to show how far to the extreme radical right the party establishment and their media cheerleaders have drifted.
Of course, maybe they are just (still) ticked off at him for the McCaine-Finegold finance reform bill. Rove previously was quoted as saying that it amounted to “treason”, “eviscorating” the fundraising advantage held by the Republican Party. I guess they recognize that the only way they can win an election is to buy one.

You’ve got to be kidding! Transcribing audio from a real-time conversation may be easy for some people, but for me it is extremely time consuming.
Consider purchasing a USB sound card for $0.99 here.

I think it’s very interesting to listen and watch the Republican pundits and talk show hosts spinning in favor of Clinton (such as Pat Buchanon on msnbc last night and Coulter on this thread). It seems obvious (to me at least) that they realize the only hope they have of winning in November is if Hillary Clinton wins the nomination. She is the only figure that can energize and unite the Republican base and they already have a campaign strategy in place to run against her. An Obama nomination would be a total disaster for the GOP and they know it.

So now according to Reuters, the bankrupt banks are trying to bail out the bankrupt bond insurers because they’ve put a pile of your money and mine into bonds backed by mortgage obligations of nearly bankrupt home-“owners” whose houses are depreciating by thousands of dollars a day.
Simultaneously, the gubmint admits that employment is dropping, but the Dow rises anyway because the Wall St. shysters are so desperate that they’ll seize at even the slightest ray of hope.
Apparently that was provided by the news that Microsoft, in its frenzy to outdo Google at something or other, offered to buy out near-bankrupt Yahoo.

I’ve met and known all our mayors from Wes Uhlman to the present, some have been better than others. Can’t say any have been outstanding, it is a tough job, but this guy takes the cake. Not only is he a lousy mayor, he is a bully, duplicitous and generally unlikeable. Making some mistakes is one thing, who hasn’t, but the unbridled arrogance is over the top. He reminds me of a bad caricature of a tin-horn Latin American dictator, sort of a poor man’s Alfredo Stroessner. So yes I am not a fan of Mayor Quarters. ArtFart @ 24:
Bad news for the American worker is generally good news for corporate America.
Lower wages means more workers in the availability pool. A larger pool of workers means the supply side will outstrip the demand and usually people are willing to work for less money to get a job.
Lower wages means greater profits for corporations. If you’re trading equities, then the value of the company goes up and that is reflected on Wall Street.
Sucks I know, but it is one of the realities of the market.
On the flip side, however, as proven by President Clinton, when governmental economic policies are at their peak in efficiencies, not only do workers make more money, so too do corporations. When workers and corporations are making lots of money, people and corporations are spending lots of money and the cycle continues for a period of time and then pulls back a bit. As we saw in late 2000. This is normal and healthy.
We also saw what happens when the economic policies of the 90’s under President Clinton are reversed, as was the case of Bush and the Republican held congress. It was a disaster for the American worker, but good for profits of multinational conglomerates and the privileged few.

BS @ 29:
I’ll have to call BS on your Bill of Rights issue.
Can you say “Warrantless Wiring Taping???”
Give me a break! If you knew what was actually in the Constitution, and more importantly, understood it, you’d be vehemnetly opposed to the Republcian party right now.
You’d also know that social liberals prevailed in the arguements in the formation of our nation.
Think about it; in 2008 conservatives are not willing to give homosexuals equal rights, like the right to marriage.
In the 50’s conservatives didn’t want to give blacks the right to vote. Google “Republican Southern Strategy”. Then, Google, “Ken Mehlman RNC apology Republican Southern Strategy”. (You don’t have to use the ” ” marks.) See whatcha get.
The point is; conservatives would never have decreed that “all men are created equal” they never would have given freedom of speech, religion. They never would have excluded God from the Constituion the way muslims include it in their governmental doctrine.
Thomas Jefferson didn’t win his arguement to expressly outlaw slavery in the Constituion because conservatives from the south wouldn’t have it.
Thomas Jefferson; an original Democrat. Any GOP’ers sign the Constitution? NO.
Sorry, but your failed arguement doesn’t hold water and it doesn’t hold truth.

ArtFart spews:
34 True, corporations are able to profit in either climate, and probably do better in a society where workers are empowered, at least in the long run. At present, however, our “leadership” is dominated by the likes of the Bush Crime Family and the robotic spawn of the likes of Liberty University, who’ve been raised with a deeply-rooted detest for the “lower classes”. So, these folks are motivated not only by the desire to become ever wealthier, but because they truly get their rocks off knowing that what they do makes hordes of ordinary people suffer.
GBS spews:
AF @ 39:
Wouldn’t disagree with your sentiment.
You might find it interesting, as would all the Ayn Rand followers, to learn that at the founding of our nation and up to the late 1800’s corporations could only exisit for 20-40 years, depending on the state of incorporation.
MTR and the rest of the uninformed neocon’s who know nothing of our founding principles who quite frankly not embrace our founding fathers if they realized how diametrically opposed they are.
JamesA spews:
CDL @ 35: The first and most obvious value is, for the first time in our nation’s history, the executive branch is openly embracing torture of captured enemies as a standard method of “protecting us”. Funny that we were able to defeat Nazi Germany, the Japanese Empire and a totalitarian SovietUnion, but for some reason, we need to toss out over 200 years of higher moral standing because we were attacked by what I consider a bunch of radical middle-eastern hippies.
Another good example would be what used to be a *very* basic conservative principal of not intervening with military force unless all other options had been exhausted. And then, if you did need to use force, it would be absolutely overwhelming and the plan would include an very clear exit strategy. That basic principal is completely out the window with Bush and his cronies.
And if you want to talk about our Bill of Rights, why do you seem to obsess with the 2nd Amendment and ignore the rest? I too believe we should maintain our right to bear arms, but I also care about the 1st Amendment and how Bush now gives out taxpayer money to religios organizations. I also care about the fourth amendment and making sure our government doesn’t have the totally unchecked powers to spy on American citizens without any judicial oversight. I care about the sixth amendment and making sure EVERY AMERICAN CITIZEN, however obvious thier guilt might appear, is given a fair trial and legal representation. Again, this President has grabbed power to the point that he alone can decide someone is a threat, have them arrested, thrown in jail and never given a chance to face his accuser… or worse yet, shipped off to a foriegn nation for “enhanced interrogation techniques”. I am sure, though, you would be fully supportive of the President grabbing this much power if it was Hillary Clinton, right? And so many right-wing idiots are too clueless to recognize that BUSH is going to be handing these same powers to a Democratic President soon. Think our new President will give them up?
So that’s just a few basic American values that have been “respectfully construed”, and I haven’t even started in on what used to be very reasonable conservative principals.

41 I rather get the impression that anyone who’s obsessed with the right to own a firearm is someone who can’t win an argument any other way than shooting their opponent.
ArtFart spews:
40 I don’t know that this makes a whole lot of difference. Very few business actually last that long under the same articles of incorporation–they end up getting bought out, or get run into the ground (with someone profiting greatly in the process) and are then reborn from their own ashes. Most corporate “leaders” never think beyond the end of the quarter, except for a few lauded “visionaries” who look toward the end of the business year.

And although the Minuteman may have had their own flintlock muskets, I’ve yet to here of a single one owning their own cannon.
Besides, didn’t Bush say, just a few months ago, that times had changed, and the Constitution was “just a sheet of paper”, and changing times required diffeent measures? Of course, he was referring to wiretapping, but let’s at least be consistent in our application if we are going to apply “liberal construction” principles to the Constitution.
As for me, I don’t have any problem with owning firearms. I learned to shoot when I was in grade school, and even did rather well in some shooting competitions, thank you. Even was on the marksmanship team in high school, using an M-14. (Yes, it does kind of seems funny to say that now, doesn’t it?).
But who in the world needs automatic weapons for hunting? If you do, you must be a really, really, lousy shot. You should stay out of the woods until you take some marksmanship classes, otherwise you are more of a danger to other hunters than you are to the game.
