Last nice day for a moment. Let’s enjoy it.

  • Hunts Point mayor/ ICE landlord is a combination.
  • Not sure what the minority party in Congress can do about a lawless President, but at least Representative Jayapal and Senator Murray are saying the right things and calling for a vote.
  • The millionaire tax is still progressing.
  • Write your legislators and members of Congress.

Took slightly more than two days to confirm, “The entire reason is complete Bullshit.”

In a way, that’s pretty impressive.

WASHINGTON, March 1 (Reuters) – Trump administration officials acknowledged in closed-door briefings with congressional staff on Sunday that there was no intelligence suggesting Iran planned to attack U.S. forces first, two people familiar with the matter said.

So far, four dead billions spent all because some of you elected a known rapist as. ‘The Peace Candidate’.

@10 How much actionable intel about 9/11 was there? Other than what one Clintonite dude stuffed into his pant leg and stole from the secure doc room, I mean.

I’m glad you brought that up because it’s another opportunity to remind everyone of the incompetence, willful blindness, gross negligence, extreme short-sightedness, and outright stupidity that typically characterizes Republican governing:

“Bush’s approach in most situations seemed a reactive combination of calculations to avoid his father’s mistakes and to reject Clinton’s policies. This was especially clear in international affairs: in his first nine months he reversed Clinton’s policy toward China, proclaiming it no longer a ‘strategic partner’ but a ‘strategic competitor’; in the Middle East, by withdrawing U.S. involvement in the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians; toward Korea, by abandoning the negotiated accord that had frozen the North’s nuclear program and by humiliating President Kim of South Korea, who was promoting North-South reconciliation, during his March 2001 visit to the White House, contributing to a wave of anti-Americanism in a country that was among the staunchest American allies; by withdrawing U.S. support from the Kyoto treaty on global warming; and by forsaking Clinton’s efforts to address the dangers of international terrorism.

“During the transition between administrations, National Security Adviser Sandy Berger arranged several extensive briefings on this last subject for Bush’s incoming national security adviser, Condoleeza Rice, and others on the Bush team, including Vice President Cheney. One briefing lasted half a day. Berger told them that Osama bin Laden was an ‘existential threat’ and told them that he wanted ‘to underscore how important this issue is.’ In another briefing, Richard Clarke, head of counterterrorism in the NSC, the single most knowledgeable expert in the government, gave them a complete tutorial on the subject. In yet another briefing, CIA officials were brought in to go over all the intelligence available on terrorism.

“Don Kerrick, a three-star general and outgoing deputy national security adviser, overlapped for four months with the new Bush people. He submitted a memo for the new National Security Council warning of the danger of terrorism. ‘We are going to be struck again,’ he wrote. But as Kerrick explained to me, he received no answer to his memo. ‘They didn’t respond,’ he said. ‘They never responded. It was not high on their priority list. I was never invited to one meeting. They never asked me to do anything. They were not focusing. They didn’t see terrorism as the big megaissue that the Clinton administration saw it as. They were concentrated on what they thought were higher priorities than terrorism.’ The Principals meeting of national security officials took up terrorism only once, after constant pressure from Clarke, on September 4, 2001, and at that meeting they discussed using unmanned Predator drone spy aircraft, but no decision was made. ‘Unfortunately,’ said Kerrick, ‘September 11 gave them something to focus on.’”

So maybe Darryl has told you off threads to play nice to BOTH yours truly and Rog or you are banned. How’s that sound? And if he told you that, he also corroborated my claims about our communications. Awwww. That musta been crushing for you.

Especially when you start the war, although to clarify, this is Israel’s war and U.S. forces are now part of the IDF, whether they like it or not.

Although to remind, Iraq hit Israel with SCUDs when the US led the 1990 invasion, whether Israel liked it or not.

Israel certainly did not like lying back and enjoying it at that time, which was necessary to keep the coalition intact. The US faces no such restriction.

Iran has hit a dozen Middle East nations in its disorganized response. The Israel/US attack is quickly morphing into a growing coalition of nations either going on the attack themselves or providing geographic and/or logistical support. These include France, UK, and Germany.

And who pays for that? U.S. taxpayers.

If the US provides “insurance” in the form of financial guarantees in the event of a military strike on tankers, and there are no strikes on tankers because Iran no longer possesses a functioning navy, absent a friendly fire event what money would there be to pay?

The US taxpayers save because the United States government guarantees debt. Because of explicit or implicit guarantees by the US the taxpayer sees less additional national debt when the US sells bonds. The taxpaying borrower pays less interest for mortgages, a majority of which are implicitly guaranteed by the US government.

The US taxpayer – also a consumer, mind you – would pay less for gasoline and other petroleum products if more tankers crossed the strait, because oil prices would be lower because supply would be greater.

and there are no strikes on tankers because Iran no longer possesses a functioning navy

Nothing about this makes the least bit of sense.

Iran’s “navy” such as it is, consists of small, lightly armed patrol boats and light cruisers. It has never been part of any defense strategy of Iran to stand toe-to-toe with any major naval power.

Ukraine “no longer possesses a functioning navy” either. But if $40,000 drones launched from trucks can disable the Russian Black Sea fleet and imprison it outside of the Black Sea in Novorossiysk, then Iran can continue to threaten unarmed oil traffic in the Strait of Hormuz for as long as they like, or at least until Whiskey Pete orders the deployment of ground troops to secure territory.

The next time a libbie whines about gasoline prices in the wake of the attack by now several nations, some Arabic-speaking, on Iran, you will have the answer to your question.

Consider it a form of quickly assembled reinsurance. The US is assuming war risk coverage, as the other insurers have canceled it for now.

Re @ 80, here, let CNBC help you out:

    Oil Prices and News
Oil prices ease after Trump says U.S. will insure tankers transiting Strait of Hormuz
