  3. On the way home from work took the 2 Line to see how ridership in the afternoon peak was going since the Ceosslake opened. Most seats on a two car train filled. I expect a little drop until 550 is discontinued in September. ST Express bus services are place holders for future rail corridors, so 550 has fulfilled that job, A Bellevue-Issaquah bus will takeover the Bellevue Way routing.

    I mainly use the 2 Line to get to Judkins Park Station, Rainier Ave north of MLK has 2 frequent routes although the 7 at every 7.5 minutes is enough, but too many want the every 15 minute 106 as well. Got a problem with the latter, provides local service on MLK but not needed North of Mt Baker. Unfortunately it has too many constituents.(Renton riders insisting on a one seat ride, ACRS wants a campus connector and weren’t happy when Metro tried to re-orintate the local route away from downtown)

    Now, because years of standardized testing are continuing to show that (unsurprisingly) voucher kids in exclusive red-lined private academies are doing worse on the standardized tests, Republicans are removing the testing requirements.

    Clearly they’re not, because it isn’t their money, it’s our money. In fact, they’re asking for $200 billion more of it.

    But I think you are confusing equipment for expendables (a category that includes fuel, ammo, and — a cynic would argue — low-ranking personnel). You’re not supposed to crash your plane or get shot down, or get your tank blown up, or drive your truck into a river or canal, or lose your rifle. You have to account for equipment.

  93. A little addition to my post at 59. Retiring the original Portland Streetcars at 25, wonder if they considered a mid life upgrade?20 years ago TriMet did that for the MAX Type 1 LRVs. Last one will be retired in 2 weeks after 40 years of service. Type 2s will be next to be retired, as they were purchased in the 90s for the Westside Extension.
