Friday!

by Carl Ballard — Friday, 4/10/26, 8:43 am

How is everyone?

  • The Forest Service is good for forestry business. Such short sighted cuts.
  • Let the health inspectors in to the immigrant detention center.
  • Hey, stop deporting people who are doing good. And really anyone who isn’t here to do harm.
  • The native plant sale is going on now at the UW.

Well now we know what Melania is trying to get ahead of. Paolo Zampolli Is the cover story. The Italian immigrant founded a modeling agency and is close friends with Donald Trump. Donnie and Mel have claimed for years HE is the one who introduced them not Jeffrey.

An interview with Amanda Ungaro, former partner of Zampolli is set to release in Spain’s ‘El Pais’ this weekend. Ungaro was very close to Melania and posted on Twatter that she is coming clean about what she knows about Paolo, Donnie and Mel.

Paolo is ‘Special representative for Global Partnerships”’ Jared Kushner’s White House bribery scheme, a member of the Kennedy Center Board (who Biden didn’t fire for being an R appointment) AND last year presented himself as the US Ambassador to Italy despite not being nominated or confirmed.

Also of note, Zampoli inherited his father’s toy company at 18 and sold it to Silvio Berlusconi. Bunga Bunga

This guy has a lifetime of corruption and prostitution in his resume and half a lifetime of friendship with ‘The Donald’.

    Gonna be fun.

    Your Friday morning conspiracy.

I don’t think there was a second pilot. Or if there was, we didn’t actually get him.

    Previously discussed exhibits:
Helicopters stuck in sand left behind and blown up, supposedly by our own forces to keep them from falling into the hands of the Iranians. We’ve been fighting in the Gulf for almost 40 years. How are helicopters still getting stuck in sand?

Fixed wing aircraft going beyond their range with no refueling aircraft in the group.

Why was the pick up 100 miles away from the crash site of his plane?

Then Pete gets up and tells this fine story of them rescuing him on Easter and when he finally got to a point where could use his beacon sending out a message of “God is great!” An appeal to Christian Nationalism. They still believe the debunked Columbine “Do you believe in God?”

As a multitude of retired pilots are pointing out those beacons are GPS locators. You don’t send messages from them. You turn them on and our satellites find you.

Still not a single statement publicly from the pilot no welcome back to the ship photos even with hidden identity. No Interview with friendly media outlet. Nothing he does not exist in the media.

Literally all the public has to go on that this mission was a success is Pete Hegseth telling us it was a success.

This is looking more and more like a botched mission to go secure an Iranian nuclear facility.

And it’s not like this administration doesn’t have a proven track record of lying about really big things

Let the health inspectors in to the immigrant detention center.

The appellate ruling overturned a lower court’s preliminary injunction against the state and remanded the case for “further proceedings.” That was in August. KING 5 News says “a federal appeals court ruled in Washington’s favor last November.” It’s unclear to me whether that’s the same order, or a final order with different wording.

GEO Group, the contractor that runs the facility for ICE, told the state health inspectors to request entry permission from ICE. The state submitted such a request, but hasn’t yet heard back from ICE. Meanwhile, GEO is still denying state health inspectors entry to the facility.

What I’m looking for is whether there’s a court order that (1) explicitly requires GEO to allow the state health inspectors in, and (2) whether that entry is conditioned upon requesting and obtaining ICE approval.

If the answer to (1) is “yes,” and the answer to (2) is “no,” then GEO is in contempt of court and the facility supervisor and any managers above him/her should be summoned before the court and ordered to show cause why they should not be held in contempt and fined or jailed for disobeying the court order.

Not exactly sure how this works, but I’m pretty sure there are both criminal and civil penalties, so even if he was pardoned, a future SEC possibly could still impose civil penalties which might include clawing back the illicit profits, in which case it’s worth pursuing even if Trump pardons him, as a pardon wouldn’t obviate the civil recovery.

    12,
Washington State has an OSHA approved state plan for workplace safety. NWIPC is not a “government owned – contractor operated” (GOCO) facility according to the appellate ruling. It is privately owned and privately operated facility under contract for the federal government.

Under those circumstances the state does not require prior authority to inspect for workplace safety.

Federal supremacy may preempt state law from imposing authority over federal detainees. I don’t think that’s decided. And it’s the subject of these lawsuits.

But it’s unnecessary, owing to the broad authority that existing federal statutes grant to states with approved workplace safety plans to inspect such workplaces. Washington is using the wrong authority here. It feels a bit like a clever maneuver to avoid confrontation.

    My two cents.

@5 Speaking of this administration’s incompetence, Dr. Oz posted a social media video last month in which he insinuated there was massive fraud in New York’s Medicaid program, basing this on 5 million of the state’s 6.8 million Medicaid recipients getting personal care services, which led to an actual investigation of the state’s Medicaid program.

“That level of utilization is unheard of,” Oz said in the video, adding in his post that New York needs to “come clean about its Medicaid program.”

It is indeed unheard of, but the problem is Oz’s number for recipients enrolled in personal care services was off by 4,550,000. New York has only 450,000 Medicaid recipients enrolled in personal care services. What’s more, a health policy analyst at a private, nonprofit think tank said, “These numbers could have been cleared up in a phone call, so it’s really slapdash,” what Oz did.

There are three morals to this story: (1) This administration is staffed with incompetents. (2) Nobody should believe anything they say. (3) Partisan hacks who go on snipe hunts likely will find a snipe, even though snipes are mythical creatures that don’t actually exist.

@15 In this case, what the state is enforcing is not its general workplace safety laws, but a state law enacted in 2023 expressly authorizing the state department of health to inspect privately-run detention facilities. The legislature passed this law specifically with the Northwest immigration detention facility in mind, and because of complaints about that facility. WDOH says it has received over 3,500 complaints about that facility, of which 2,000 were in last year alone.

repuke and magat STAG-flation touches all:

The U.S. war with Iran and the resulting spike in energy prices have pushed inflation to its highest level in nearly two years.

A report from the Labor Department Friday showed consumer prices in March were up 3.3% from a year ago. That’s the biggest annual increase since May of 2024. Prices jumped 0.9% between February and March, with higher gasoline prices accounting for nearly three-quarters of that increase.

Gas prices have jumped by more than a dollar a gallon, on average, since the U.S. and Israel launched their attack on Iran. Pump prices have remained high this week, despite a tentative ceasefire.

Higher jet fuel prices also contributed to a jump in the cost of airline tickets last month, although food prices were flat, as rising costs for restaurant meals offset a decline in grocery prices…

The Fed is also keeping a close eye on the job market, which showed some signs of life in March when employers added 178,000 jobs, after cutting workers the previous month. While employers have not been adding a lot of jobs, they’ve been reluctant to lay people off as well.

    18,

I’m just saying it’s unknown if there is any federal statutory authority allowing states to inspect federal detention facilities for detainee health conditions under these circumstances. But the state absolutely can’t impose health inspections on other publicly owned federal prisons. That’s settled law.

So it makes me wonder why your AG went in this direction when he already has a well established authority to perform compulsory spot inspections for workplace safety. Feels like a political dodge.

I mean it isn’t as if getting in there and documenting the conditions would change anything about the conditions. This DOJ doesn’t even comply with habeas orders. They’re not going to comply with orders to issue soap or toothpaste or to provide adequate healthcare. So all you can really hope to do is document and publicize the cruelty and torture.
