    Disrupting command and control infrastructure is fundamental and relatively easy for the United States.     We have imposed a state of dire emergency on Iran. We will have disrupted much more than Iran’s communications infrastructure. A state of civil emergency will be in effect requiring even more strict control over the civilian population as daily life in all its forms collapses and more benign institutions of civil social control crumble.
    Strategic geniuses like the lying troll are delighted by that.

    But that is probably not an environment in which “democracy will flower” into a “Persian Spring”. The defense forces of Iran will become aggressively paranoid about spies, infiltrators, and forward observers in their midst assisting with the IDF and US attacks. Schools will close. Businesses will shutter and the workforce that isn’t displaced by bombardment will be commanded to take shelter and remain indoors off the streets. Meetings of any kind will be outlawed. People even suspected of acting in any way against the ruling regime will be immediately arrested and imprisoned.

    The ability of any kind of political resistance to emerge and gain popular support in Iran today is almost certainly less than it was 24 hours ago.
