by Darryl — Tuesday, 10/28/25, 2:56 pm

DLBottleFeeling oppressed by our political system? Feeling helpless to make change? Empower yourself…vote! Find that ballot swimming in the sea of papers on the table, fill it out and drop it off. Then stop by the Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally to plot the revolution…or maybe to just relax over conversations and a drink.

We meet tonight and every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern, 2409 10th Ave E, Seattle. You’ll find us either in the back room or out on the back patio. We start at 8:00pm.

Chapters of Living Liberally are all over the place…if you can’t make it to the Seattle chapter, stop by another chapter near you.

As Commander in Chief, would this Executive Order stand? Ordering the Navy to abandon the controversial EMALS system and go back to Steam Catapults on the Ford Class CVNs. This decision could affect one Allied Navy, France is planning the replacement of the Charles de Gaulle and they usually buy catapults from us.

    IDF isn’t much better.

    IDF is NO better.

In this sense, the sovereign state of Israel and everything it has ever stood for, has been entirely defeated by terrorism.

Israel has been transformed into the thing they were created to oppose. Israel itself is probably the most antisemitic nation state that exists today.

U.S. District Court Judge Sara Ellis is sick of his bullshit.

Finding out that U.S. District Court Judge Sara Ellis considers himself above her order that all personnel in the field have activated body cams sets a deadline for Bovino to have one and seems exasperated she has to tell him again on this point. Orders Bovino to report to her the actions of his staff in Illinois EVERY WEEKDAY by 6pm.

Translation. ‘You ignored my previous orders, I’m well aware you’ve lied in my courtroom and I’m giving you one more chance to stay out of custody for contempt.’

A federal judge in Tennessee on Monday warned of possible sanctions against top Trump administration officials if they continue to make inflammatory statements about Kilmar Abrego Garcia that could prejudice his coming trial.

That is, if we still have a functioning legal system in this country. If he’s convicted of the shit he’s accused of, by a jury in a fair trial, then fine go ahead and jail or deport him.

But at this point in time, I don’t believe anything Bondi & Co. says. This whole administration, from top to bottom, is a gang of liars and perjurers.

Starting to hear Amtrak operations may be affected due to the Shutdown by Thanksgiving. Amtrak had a buffer tgey say could last 4-6 weeks. It will most likely affect the National Network, aka Red States. Under 750 miles, states are on the hook, and Amtrak will suspend those routes if they aren’t paid, as Texas already almost learned this year. Oklahoma only paid for its portion of the Heartland Flyer this year. If it hadn’t been for a North Texas MPO, the train would not be running by now.

P.S., Would you rather have the Chinese navy prowling the South China Sea, or prowling off our coasts and the entrances to our harbors?

@3 I wouldn’t (and didn’t) say exactly that. IDF didn’t hijack planes or murder athletes. Palestinian terrorists have done a lot of shit over the years, which didn’t (and doesn’t) help the Palestinian cause. IDF is ugly, yes, but reactively. What they’ve done was provoked by the Oct. 7 terror attacks by Hamas. Israel has a right to defend itself, and everyone knew they would. It’s how they go about it that’s the problem.

@13 What empire? Do you even know what the word means? Mr. Merriam and Mr. Webster are here to help:

    empire
    noun
    em·pire ˈem-ˌpī(-ə)r
1 a (1) : a major political unit having a territory of great extent or a number of territories or peoples under a single sovereign authority

especially: one having an emperor as chief of state

    (2) : the territory of such a political unit

b: something resembling a political empire
especially : an extensive territory or enterprise under single domination or control

2 : imperial sovereignty, rule, or dominion

3 capitalized [Empire State, nickname for New York] : a juicy apple with dark red skin that is a cross between a McIntosh apple and a Red Delicious apple

    https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/empire

If we’re not talking about apples, the U.S.’s “empire” is the 50 states, Puerto Rico, and U.S. territories, which are nothing more than a bunch of sparsely population little islands. And the U.S. is not “bankrupt”; its checks still clear. You are a dummy.

Joe Kent, twice-failed congressional candidate, is still an ass.

The head of the National Counterterrorism Center examined FBI files in the past several weeks to investigate whether the man charged with assassinating Charlie Kirk had support from someone else, a foreign power or another entity, according to multiple people with knowledge of the matter.

The inquiry by Joe Kent, the director of the counterterrorism center, alarmed Kash Patel, the director of the FBI. Patel and other senior officials believed Kent was overstepping, treading on FBI responsibilities and potentially interfering with the investigation and the prosecution of the suspect, Tyler Robinson.

Election Day tomorrow in the Netherlands, but could be up to a year before we know who is in charge. Geert Wilders, the Dutch Trump and his party will be coming in first, but polls show with fewer seats than last time. A Centre-Left alliance is projected to be in Second place, and it’s going to be complicated, Polls show PVV in first but 30-40 seats short of the 76 required for a majority government. Leaders of the Center-Left and Center-Right say they won’t work with Wilders, and they say they mean it, this time. The reason for the early elections? Wilders came in 1st in 2023, and with the numbers he had, they had to work with him. Took 9 months to form, it lasted roughly a year. The other members of the Coalition are not doing well, and one of them looks to be losing all its seats. The threshold in Dutch elections is about .67%,.

At the very least as the Government Shutdown persists, Amtrak should remind state legislatures of their responsibilities under Section 209 of the PRIIA, and make their payments on time. The Heartland Flyer was only a one year stay of execution, and the Texas Legislature doesn’t meet next year. Pennsylvania was almost late with their bills, and they fund more service, the Keystones NYP-Harrisburg, and the NYP-Pittsburgh Pennsylvanian.

The long distance routes are most at risk of suspension right now. The Empire Builder is a good multi-tasker but it lost a big supporter last year. Whitefish and Shelby are crew change points, Engineers, Conductors in the latter, Engineers and 1 Dining Car attendant at the latter(they can do with one lesson the Diner for Breakfeast traffic from 1and a half sleepers, plus maybe a few Coach passengers, the Portland section usually is 2 coaches, Sightseer Lounge car, a sleeper. The breakfast for the Portland Sleeper, at least 20 years ago was picked up from a bar owner in Havre.

    5,
It’s very clear the Chicago media (at least) have figured out that Judge Ellis is regularly reading and viewing local news reports about these operations in which DHS is routinely violating her lawful and biding orders.

    And they are responding:
    https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/10/28/judge-to-question-bovino-tear-gas/

Bovino stood on the running board of a Border Patrol pickup truck and made some sweeping military hand gestures to his personnel before getting behind the wheel and heading west on Adams Street. One of the agents who protected Bovino as he got into the vehicle was holding what appeared to be a canister of tear gas, which was placed on the dashboard before the truck pulled away.

    and

Bovino also gave an interview to a Spanish-language news outlet afterward where he was asked about Ellis’ order and allegedly said, “Did judge Ellis get hit in the head by a rock this morning?”

Bovino can now look forward to spending every evening in Chicago painfully reviewing his demonstrations of contempt from the previous 24 hours.

I’d love to believe that he will quickly learn to temper this shit. But I’m afraid I know better. He’s a cop. And one thing I know about cop culture is that they have almost no self awareness when it comes to this kind of shit. Judge Ellis is going to be very disappointed.

    But I won’t.
