Here’s an idea for discussion… how about McGavick’s support for oil drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge, because as we all know, with modern technology, there’s nearly zero change of a massive oil spill threatening enivronmentally sensitive areas.

NTERIOR SECRETARY QUITS; CITES ‘NO MORE ENVIRONMENT LEFT TO WRECK’
    Norton Declares Mission Accomplished
Secretary of the Interior Gail Norton announced her resignation on Friday, saying that there was “no more environment left to wreck” after five years at her Cabinet-level job.

Flanked by members of her Department of the Interior staff, Ms. Norton was clearly in a celebratory mood, telling reporters, “When I took this job five years ago, my goal was a simple one: to destroy as much of the environment as possible.”

Beaming with pride, Ms. Norton said, “I am here today to say, ‘mission accomplished.’”

Walk, bike, or hop around on your powerful hind legs. Also stop using electricity since much of our power is generated by natural gas fired turbines.

    Either that, or STFU.

So oil is bad if it is on top of the ground where you can
see it, but okay if it is underground where we cant see it.
My thoughts are that by pumping the oil out of where we
cant see it aren’t we cleaning up a huge underground disaster.
I’m heading out to buy a new Hummer and help out. Hopefully
the paint on it is oil based so it will last forever like
the paint on my house. If only..

Roger and Gang is this Ted Kennedy replacement for the Democrats?
    http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03.....r=homepage
WASHINGTON, March 12 — A Democratic senator who is widely believed to be considering a run for the White House in 2008 said today that he would seek to censure President Bush because of his domestic eavesdropping program.
The senator, Russell D. Feingold of Wisconsin, said, “What the president did by consciously and intentionally violating the Constitution and laws of this country with this illegal wiretapping has to be answered.” He added, “Proper accountability is a censuring of the president, saying, ‘Mr. President, acknowledge that you broke the law, return to the law, return to our system of government.’ ”
Mr. Feingold, who spoke on the ABC News program “This Week,” said he planned to introduce legislation on Monday that would censure President Bush and condemn his authorization of the eavesdropping program.
Senator Bill Frist, Republican of Tennessee and the majority leader, called Mr. Feingold’s proposal “a crazy political move.”
The Senate Intelligence Committee has rejected Democrats’ call for a full committee investigation of the eavesdropping program and adopted a Republican plan for a seven-member

38 – Fuck you again. Practically every energy source in the country is regulated and subsidized with tax breaks and whatnot to keep consumer costs low. The feds just injected 13 billion into the corpse of the nuclear industry. They injected even more into the oil and gas industry. Why should wind power be held to a higher standard especially if it comes with zero fuel costs and minimal environmental impact?

  45. klake spews:

Roger and Gang is this true of the Democrat Party that it will use a Republican plan that work in 1994? The party of the Socialist Democrats will make this happen after running all the true Democrats out of the party. Have the Democrats lost its base prostituting the party for special interest groups and alienating all the Religious groups all over the country.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03.....tml?8hpiby.
In January, the Democratic leaders in Congress, along with several dozen members of the rank and file, gathered in the splendid foyer of the Library of Congress to let loose the opening barrage of a campaign to take control of Congress this November. With the possible exception of the Capitol, no setting in Washington suggests the majesty and antiquity of our form of government more than this domed, pillared, tiled and bemuraled space. As Democratic legislators filed onto a raised platform, a patriotic march — was those . . . snare drums. — swelled from the wings. To the rear hung two giant American flags and between them a banner, which read, “Honest Leadership, Open Government.” One by one, the leaders spoke of how they were saddened, but also outraged, at the Republican “culture of corruption.” “We throw the gauntlet down today!” cried Representative Louise Slaughter. At the conclusion of this press event, the legislators formed a tableau intended to evoke glorious moments in the history of the Republic as they stood together to sign a charter known as “The Declaration of Honest Leadership and Open Government.”
Cringe if you wish — but didn’t this kind of stagecraft work wonders for Newt Gingrich and the Republicans when they assaulted the Democratic bastion in 1994? The Democrats have been trying to recover ever since from that lightning strike, which not only placed both houses in Republican hands but also ushered in the era of conservative supremacy in which we still live. It’s true that the Democrats have been vowing to retake Congress every two years, while the Republican majority merely waxes and wanes. But 2006 feels different. What with Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, the Abramoff scandal and an unconvincing economy, President Bush’s approval ratings are down in the mid-30’s. Even Republican strategists and legislators concede the parallels to 1994 and worry that their party now feels as entrenched and unaccountable as the Democrats did then.

Places nearby where windmills would be commercially viable.

Anywhere in a 50 mile radius of Hanford WA. Massive connections to the electrical grid, non stop wind, not even the indians lived there since there is no water outside the columbia river. And damn few animals to annoy. The fruit growers in mattawa can’t complain since they all have windmills for microclimate frost control.

If you put a picture of the area next to shots from the Mars lander pics, you could not tell the difference.

If one wnated to make a secret federal facility to enrich uranium for bombs it would also be perfect.
Oh wait. They already did that. The only flaw they did not forsee was the non stop wind that carried released radiation to the populated areas.

No chance of that with windpower.

Now you killed the monorail in Seattle, its taking years to complete the light rail, and you choke I5 into downtown with your off ramps. Here’s one for our Gay Pal, Bob from Boeing:

Three Americans died overseas in the war. The General of the three was sent to each of the houses to inform their spouses.

He went to the first man’s house and told the man’s wife of the tragic news. She cried for a moment and the General asked her what she wanted to do with his body.’

‘Well,”she said,”he loved to fish so I would like to have his body creamated and his ashes spread over the lake so he can be forever with his fish. “And it was done.

The General went and informed the second man’s wife. She too cried and was then asked what was to be done with his body? “She said, “Well,he loved to hunt, so I think it would be great if we could have him creamated and have his ashes scattered over the forrests so he can be forever with the creatures that he loved so much.”

The third man was gay. The General was a little hesitant but proceeded in telling the man’s husband (Bob from Boeing) the bad news. Bob from Boeing cried and screamed for well over an hour and then finally calmed down enough to hear the General’s question.”What would you like to do with his body?”

Bob from Boeing responded, “Well,my husband was a good man, but he was not very outgoing. He didn’t like to do anything outside the house. He was the best lover I ever had. He was amazing in bed. He loved my chili too. I loved him so much. Well, the only logical thing to do is to have his body cremated, make some chili for dinner, throw his ashes in, and let him burn my ass up one more time!”

One more to share with your pals–
John invited his mother over for dinner. During the meal, his mother couldn’t help noticing how handsome John’s roommate was. She had long been suspicious of Johns’ sexual orientation and this only made her more curious.

Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between John and the roommate than met the eye.

Reading his mom’s thoughts, John volunteered, “I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you, Mark and I are just roommates.”

About a week later, Mark came to John and said, “Ever since your mother came to dinner, I’ve been unable to find the beautiful silver gravy ladle. You don’t suppose she took it, do you?”

John said, “Well, I doubt it, but I’ll write her a letter just to be sure.” So he sat down and wrote: “Dear Mother, I’m not saying you ‘did’ take a gravy ladle from my house, and I’m not saying you ‘did not’ take a gravy ladle. But the fact remains that one has been missing ever since you were here for dinner.”

Several days later, John received a letter from his mother which read: “Dear Son, I’m not saying that you ‘do’ sleep with Mark, and I’m not saying that you ‘do not’ sleep with Mark. But the fact remains that if he was sleeping in his own bed, he would have found the gravy ladle by now. Love, Mom

California … does not have very many commercially viable wind farm sites, at least not onshore. Much of the Southwest is not much better, although there are some significant exceptions. However, the Midwest has an abundance of suitable sites for wind energy development …. The Pacific Northwest and the Northeast both have many excellent sites as well.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_farm

“Until recently, the costs associated with utility-scale wind power generation have been prohibitive. With significant advancements in technology, the economic feasibility of wind power generation, coupled with the positive environmental attributes of wind power, is leading to rapid global growth in commercially viable wind power development. Wind technology is the fastest-growing generation source in the world.” http://www.district.squamish.b.....Power.aspx

“One of my favorite, tho’ problematic, power sources, is Geothermal.”

Most people think of “geothermal” as drilling down into an underground hot spring. However, today the real action in “geothermal” is geothermal heat pumps, which are much more efficient than standard heat pumps.

Geothermal heat pumps can be incorporated into new construction or, in many cases, retrofitted to existing structures. They are based on the principle that, whereas ambient air temperature fluctuates greatly, the temperature in the ground is relatively stable. Based on simple refrigerator mechanics, a geothermal heat pump transfers heat stored in the ground to thermal space heating. The process also works in reverse, and a geothermal heat pump installation can be used for winter heating and summer cooling. These units consume anywhere from 25% to 70% less electricity than conventional electric heating and cooling units, and can be installed almost anywhere there’s soil.

The best place to get energy is conservation. To illustrate what design can do, today’s desktop computers use a teeny fraction of a 1960’s mainframe, yet are far more powerful.

The trick to an energy-efficient economy is to move electrons, not planes, trucks, ships, or people. When you stop to think about it, there’s really no reason explainable in terms of physics why most office workers actually have to go from one place (their homes) to another place (the office) to do their work. As the percentage of America’s economic output consisting of intellectual services grows, the opportunities for a more energy-efficient economy also grow, because you can move intellectual output to virtually any place on earth with negligble expenditure of electrical energy.

Hey moonbats in FUWA, why don’t you drill a nice hole in the side of MT. St. Helens. Then place cluelessASS on the hole as the magma capstone. Every so often the hot gas pressures would lift his smelly ass off the pipe and the geothermal heat would be harnessed for use. You would know it’s ready because cluelessASS would whistle, kind of like what he does here on ASSes. You know, whistle out of his ass!

In all seriousness, the problem would be how to heat exchange the hot gases to make geothermal work here in FUWA. We would need a pipeline, with corrosive capacitance. Since they are corrosive, a high stainless steel content would be needed. But , I guess, it would be a very expensive operation. Since the moonbats like to get away from oil, they could invest in this project!

BTW MTR, in my IVY League edumication, we learned about galvanic corrosion. Just put cluelessASS’ magnesium dick on Roger Rabbit’s furry ass and galvanic corrosive action will immediately occur. A burgeoning new industry was developing in the U.S. with lots of research going on and improvements all the time. Carter even had solar installed on the WHITE house.

    http://today.reuters.com/news/.....ived=False
PARIS (Reuters) – French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin prepared on Sunday to defend his unpopular labor reforms after riot police stormed the historic Sorbonne university in Paris to end a protest over the new law.
Villepin was scheduled to give a major television interview a day after riot police smashed their way into the faculty’s halls in the heart of the capital’s Latin Quarter and dragged some 200 demonstrators from the building.
The students started their sit-in on Wednesday in the university, birthplace of the May 1968 student protest movement, to denounce moves to loosen France’s rigid labor laws and make it easier for employers to hire and fire people aged under 26.
“This is what happens when you call for disorder,” Education Minister Gilles de Robien said as he visited the Sorbonne’s ransacked offices, holding up torn books at the site where a 1968 rebellion that weakened President Charles de Gaulle began.

    http://www.arabnews.com/?page=.....ry=Opinion
What disturbed me was not the content of this letter but that this was a rare voice of reflection in an ocean of arrogance and insensitivity. Commentators from across the Western world seem dismissive of the Muslim angst and almost impervious to our bruised sentiments. The general impression that transcends the non-Muslim society is that the Muslims are pathetically out of touch with reality. Repetitively, the same questions are being asked of the Muslims, while we continue to dole out the same clichéd answers.
Is the Muslim community so self-absorbed that it cannot look beyond its own fractured sentiments? In addition, before we take up knee-jerk defensive postures let us concede one simple fact — the issue is not limited to the ongoing cartoon controversy. It goes much deeper and in fact reaches the core of Muslim double standards.
One can hardly dispute that the Muslim community takes to violence too easily. We seem unable to harness the incalculable power of the mind over adventurism of the heart. We believe that “the ink of a scholar is mightier than the blood of a martyr”, yet we do not put this into practice. If we strain across the chasm of perception that divides “us” from “them”, then we, Muslims, cannot ignore our burden of guilt. For starters, let us at least admit that our guilt lies more in omission than in acts of commission.

    Let’s try this again.

How the Christian Taliban practice the Gospels:

    1. A commits terrorist act against B
    2. A goes scot free because B is too busy killing C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, 0, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z

An alternative is to commit the insane to an asylum – FR and (un)SP is your destiny. Unfortunately, no treatment will be afforded there – just an echo chamber for your “right-thinking”.
