    No use getting your jockeys in a wad about today’s Guantánamo announcement. At its height, the Detention facility at Guantánamo housed 628 prisoners. There is no funding or infrastructure to support what they’re talking about. It’s not just the tents to house the migrants. You’re looking at 15 to 20 times the number of personnel who will then guard those people. And then there’s the question of where you’re going to house the thousands of people you’re going to need to guard and staff such a facility And mess halls for them. And food for them.

    This is like turning on the faucets in California. Donnie just knows that Joe Biden decreased the number of people at Guantánamo and that people have been saying for years Guantánamo should just be closed because it’s inefficient and expensive. But there’s a significant brain dead MAGA faction Guantánamo is the way to go.

    We always want to remember that cops are human like the rest of us. While many are dedicated public servants, they are not God, Jesus, or Mother Teresa. The law bans unsheltered people from “camping” or “storing property,” such as tents or sleeping bags, anywhere in Burien, including sleeping in vehicles, making it one of the region’s harshest anti-homeless laws.

    Burien city officials claim it creates an incentive for homeless people to go into shelters, but Burien doesn’t have a shelter, and can’t present evidence it has sheltered a single person through private or non-profit providers.

    With those added facts, this law is of dubious constitutionality, because it criminalizes a status instead of behavior. I recall the Supreme Court years ago threw out a California law that made it a crime to be a drug addict.

    Of course, we have a different Supreme Court now, and it’s possible individuals have no constitutional rights or protections anymore.

    It’s been a while since the U.S. has experienced an air disaster, but this evening an Army Blackhawk helicopter collided midair with an American Airlines regional jet carrying 64 crew and passengers on approach to Reagan Airport in Washington D.C., and both aircraft are believed to be in the Potomac River. Daily Mail, which has a video of the collision, says 4 survivors have been pulled from the water.
