Drinking Liberally — Seattle

by Darryl — Tuesday, 6/23/26, 3:29 pm

DLBottleIt is Tuesday, and that means some liberals will be getting together and engaging in sipping, swigging, chugging, or quaffing beverages of various sorts. And chatting. Join us tonight for the weekly meeting of the Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally.

We meet tonight and every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern, 2409 10th Ave E, Seattle. You’ll find us in the back room starting about 8:00pm.

Chapters of Living Liberally are all over the place…if you can’t make it to the Seattle chapter, stop by another chapter near you.

What if it was a typo?

What if he meant to say “first wife’s”?

Given his consistent comment history of violent misogyny and financial corruption I think I can make a decent case for the proposition that he snuffed her and buried her bones under the horse stall in the damp woods. And he’s just cashing her checks like a classic rural “conservative” welfare cheat.

I bet it was quite the raucous celebration after cashing that first check. The lying troll, a half empty handle of Old Crow, and his “FB friends from CO” parked outside the Freeland DQ watching the Coupeville HS cheerleader car wash and violently punching the clown.

Sound Transit has its issues, but one thing they don’t is a full blown turf war with local operators that they overlap, unlike Northeastern Illinois. Plus hard for that to happen when except for SOUNDER and T-Line, the agency counts on those operators to operate its services. Well. In exchange for a funding bailout, the Northeastern Illinois RTA is being replaced by the Northern Illinois Transit Authority, which still doesn’t eliminate METRA, CTA, and PACE and it’s service boards, but will ensure better coordination.NITA is based on the German Verkersverbund model, which overseas funding, service standards, fares, and coordination among various operators.

One thing an organization like Munich’s MVV doesn’t do is have a Munich MVG service, S-Bahn train, and a suburban bus converge near each other and not connect. That happened in Chicago under the old system, partly due to canabalizing fare revenue. Besides the example in the video, there was a case during Mayor Lightfoot where she killed a plan for two METRA services, the Metra Electric and Rock Island districts, to boost ridership within Chicago, by lowering fares to match the CTA. Under the law at the time, she was in the right, it would have hurt the CTA’s finances, as Illinois mandates 50% fare recovery. A rule only suspended during the Pandemic.

Sound Transit has better coordination among various operators , plus the ORCA system. On my days off Since I work Fri-Mon, been exploring the new connections since the latest openings on Sound Transit. Pierce Transit provides good(but could be better) connections to SOUNDER at Puyallup Station, Community Transit has recently discontinued it’s last Seattle route, the Snohomish commuter route in favor of a connection with the 2 Line at Bellevue. WA operators handle overlapping services with Interlocal agreements, Community Transit and Metro handle the County line great, with Metro serving Mountlake Terrace station, and Community Transit expanding their pioneering SWIFT BLUE LINE to Skoreline-North. Still zoom room for improvement, Island Transit should expand the Camano route from Everett to Lynwood City Center, and Skagit Transit should expand 90X there as well. Same rules as the current rules, discharge only inbound, picking outbound.

47)For awhile it was geofenced in Toronto because the system couldn’t see a TTC Streetcar, which is hard to miss, being pretty long. Could be a good thing, the TTC Network still has a lot of street running and not in the curb lane, with stops that are more like bus stops. So, if self-driving was disabled, can’t blame it for missing the big sign on the back of the streetcar that says unlawful to pass while the streetcar is stopped.

It also targets large institutional investors by limiting the number of single-family homes they can own, a move intended to reduce competition from corporate buyers and make it easier for individuals to purchase homes.

More broadly, the legislation is meant to address a nationwide housing shortage—estimated in the millions of units—by increasing supply and easing pressure on home prices and rents, which have surged amid high mortgage rates and inflation.

Perhaps YLB can explain how a new car purchase, in which massive depreciation occurs as soon as the vehicle ownership is transferred, is “like” a home purchase, in which home value appreciation is expected by all parties, and by YLB’s own admission has “inflated over the years”.

We got some specs on the Slate truck, the Amazon backed EV company.

$25k base (expected $27k with Doc/tax). That puts it even with I.C.E. Jettas and Civics. #5 on least expensive new cars available in the USA.

205 mile range which is plenty for a commuter or errands around town owner. Will charge 20-80% in 20 hours on a standard 120v outlet. Most people drive less than 60miles in a day so they’re not going to get down to 20%. 8 hours to max with a level three home charger. 30 minutes on a public fast charger. That last one isn’t great but this car isn’t aimed at distance drivers. With the availability of chargers in most parking lots of major cities and suburbs you can do 15 minutes while running into Safeway if needed.

At the base price it’s Bare Bones, handle roll downs, no stereo but a mount for a Bluetooth speaker is included and the car does have USB-C ports. There is no stereo system upgrade and no touch screen but for about $500 you can get a tablet mount, app (Not subscription) and three integrated in dash Bluetooth speakers.

2000 pound towing cap. 5.5’ bed length.

With every available add-on it will run about $30k.

China is still kicking our ass on affordable EVs but it’s a start.

    Deliveries slated for January.

Had they knocked $100 off each ticket for 8 regular and two pre-season games in a 68k capacity stadium that would have been $55m in profit. Net profit. Gross Revenue-expenses profit.

2021 also the year the Seahawks introduced dynamic pricing with two tiered pricing depending on opponent. $100 off would have been $35 for 300 level tickets against the Jaguars on Halloween. $55 for 49ers.

You left out two very important points:

    • It’s rear-wheel drive.
    • There is no 4WD (or AWD) option.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the concept and I like the fact that you can buy parts from Slate to convert the truck to a SUV by enclosing the bed and, I assume, installing a second row of seats.

If you want to define SUV as a vehicle with only RWD and sometimes less than 2,000 pounds of towing capacity, then you go right ahead. It’s kind of like describing Boxcheck Momala as competent, but you do you.

What we accomplished extends beyond the pier—strengthening the trust to keep sea lanes open, defend freedom of navigation, and preserve peace through strength across the Pacific.

BERLIN, June 26 (Reuters) – Lufthansa (LHAG.DE), opens new tab on Friday rejected a Spiegel report saying it ‌was preparing to ground up to 40 aircraft because of a jet fuel shortage, a story the German magazine later withdrew after concluding it relied on outdated information.

    https://www.reuters.com/business/lufthansa-preparing-ground-up-40-jets-due-fuel-shortage-spiegel-reports-2026-06-26/

In this case, a poster reasonably relied on a news report that turned out to be inaccurate due to sloppy reporting and was later retracted by the well-known major publication that published it.

He has, predictably, turned America’s birthday into a commemoration of himself. Plans for a concert on the National Mall to kick off the festivities turned into a pro-Trump rally, and most of the music acts backed out once they realized how partisan the event had become. Trump went ahead anyway, making himself last night’s centerpiece with a few C-listers as his opening acts. But his heart didn’t seem in it as he delivered a short speech that included some nods to the republic’s founding and plenty of grievances. He spoke from behind bulletproof glass, and the crowd was small by Trump’s standards. Social-media footage showed many people leaving while he was still speaking.

Trump, ever attuned to what is trending, posted on social media today that he had a massive crowd and that “everybody stayed right until the end of my Speech.” He did not weigh in on the day’s breaking news from the Middle East: Despite the cease-fire agreement, Iran fired upon a vessel trying to transit the Strait of Hormuz, which underscored the challenges that lay ahead in negotiations. Scalito is a piece of shit:

The law doesn’t require plaintiffs to show that 100 percent of a government’s decisionmaking was motivated by race, only that race was a factor, and here that evidence was clear as day. The court’s blessing of discrimination against Haitians arrives the same week that a Democratic incumbent’s campaign in New York came under fire after the candidate treated Haitian as a slur and used it against his Dominican challenger. The Trump administration’s statements were so “repellent and racially inflected” that neither the DOJ nor the majority would even repeat them, Kagan notes. But the court was perfectly willing to reach the mind-boggling conclusion that the administration was not “overtly racial.”

At this stage, plaintiffs like Miot and Laila weren’t asking to win their entire cases. All they were asking the court to do was let them stay in the country and not be immediately deported while they litigated their claims. The Supreme Court couldn’t extend them even that courtesy. And DHS immediately took to gloating, as General Counsel James Percival said: “We didn’t just win these two TPS cases. Rather, we won all TPS cases for all time.” The Trump administration will now resume its breakneck revocations and deportations of Black and brown people who came here after tragedy struck their countries and now call this place home. The only thing worse than the reasoning of the conservative supermajority is the devastating and life-threatening consequences this decision will have for years to come.

HA Commenting Policy

It may be hard to believe from the vile nature of the threads, but yes, we have a commenting policy. Comments containing libel, copyright violations, spam, blatant sock puppetry, and deliberate off-topic trolling are all strictly prohibited, and may be deleted on an entirely arbitrary, sporadic, and selective basis. And repeat offenders may be banned! This is my blog. Life isn’t fair.
