    They govern?

    Screwworm. No medical insurance talk. No climate change initiatives except climate change denial and investing in dirty energy. Affordability legislation? Fraud and Corruption on steroids. Deficit out of control. Taking away voting rights and personal freedoms. Actively participating in genocide.

    It has been the official policy of the Republican Party to lie about elections for more than half a decade.

    We have been forced to watch dozens of Republican judicial nominees and cabinet nominees refuse to say who won the 2020 election. The party sponsored a riot attacking the joint session of Congress during the ceremonial certification of the vote count in Jan of 2021. Republicans broke into election offices nationwide and stole records and voting machines to prop up their lie. At various points they adopted claims suggesting that the vote was altered with (1) a space laser hidden behind the moon, (2) fake ballots created in China and spirited into polling centers in pizza boxes, (3) voting machines built by Dominion Systems and Smartmatic were “rigged” in collusion with foreign spy agencies, (4) hundreds of thousands of ballots cast and counted by voters who were deceased, (5) Sharpie markers supplied to GOP voters to spoil their ballots, and (6) hundreds of thousands of fake ballots prepared by rogues state officials and “dumped” into the counts at the last minute. Republican elected officials in Congress and in multiple states were joined in these claims by hundreds of media companies, media figure heads, media personalities, newspaper reporters, bloggers, YouTube influencers, AM hate radio shock jocks, podcasters, Twitter accounts, Insta accounts, and Tik Tok accounts. As a direct result of these weird claims more than half a billion dollars were spent by states and the federal government in efforts to “address” the “vulnerabilities” they described.

    And all of these claims were painstakingly investigated and debunked in Congressional reports published in October 7, 2021 and December 22, 2022 which concluded that every single one of these claims were baseless lies fabricated by the Trump campaign, the Trump White House, and their Republican supporters to generate fundraising income, drive engagement with disappointed voters, promote violence and division, and to distract from their own failures.

    Why would America fall for the same stupid trick twice?

    US airlines spent 75% more on fuel YOY in April. Bankruptcies are incoming.

    UAL share price 6/9/25: $83.47. Today: $110.46.

    DAL share price 6/9/25: $51.20. Today: $81.53.

    AAL share price 6/9/25: $11.76. Today: $14.37.

    LUV share price 6/9/25: $33.57. Today: $ 43.15.

    Now, Alaska Airlines is down, to be sure. But it’s still integrating its acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines.

    So the biggest four airlines are nowhere near bankruptcy and the fifth is continuing to expand with several new routes to Europe and Asia after repurposing some of its widebody jets from Hawaii flights to international use.

    Sadly, after the Spirit Airlines bankrupcty caused personally by Elizabath Warren, it’s an extra five bucks to fly to Vegas now.

    Elijah has to point out April fuel expenditures because West Texas Intermediate Crude is down $25/bbl since then.

    More than 10,000 applicants vie for 15 affordable apartments in Seattle

    “With only a small number of new units becoming available, it will do little to address the needs of hundreds of people seeking affordable housing,” said Shannon Affholter, the Co-Chair at the Runstad Department of Real Estate at the University of Washington.

    The Social Housing Developer announced last month that it purchased a 150-unit building by the Pike Place Market for around $60 million.

    The building, the Elera at the Market, features some luxury units that rent for more than $3,000 a month.

    Seattle Social Housing Developer interim CEO Tiffani McCoy told the independent authorities board in April that buying the then-unnamed building would help the housing organization provide housing sooner, as new construction would take several years.

    And, just as ALK is down for reasons exogenous to fuel prices, those other airline stocks are up for reasons exogenous to fuel prices, not least the explosion of air travel after the pandemic.

    You cherry-picked stock prices at an arbitrary point in time chosen to show gains. A more relevant point of comparison is where these stocks were before the pandemic:

    UAL – today, $110.46; 2019, $95.20
    DAL – today, $81.53; 2019, $63.40
    AAL – today, $14.37; 2019, $37.20
    LUV – today, $43.15, 2019, $58.80

    Of the four stocks you cited, two are higher and two are lower. There are many potential explanations for this, such as quality of customer experience, but it may be noteworthy that UAL and DAL dominate America’s most lucrative domestic routes and both are big players in international travel. Not surprisingly, their profits dwarf those of American and Southwest. Investors follow the money.

Half of all those tested fell below the mid point and half of all those tested above, with one standard deviation defining the middle range.

    The differences between mean, median, and mode that the whiny lying troll is complaining about are not related to the distribution of IQ in any way. The Stanford-Binet distribution was based on mean averaging of the all values with 68.27% of all values falling within 1 standard deviation of the mean, and 50% of all values falling below the mean while 50% of all values fall above the mean.

    Maybe, but not in MY private vehicle.

    Great. Nobody is requiring you to use trains, ferries, passenger airplanes, trolleys or buses. You are perfectly free to drive, bike, or walk wherever you like.

    But the fact that people do all the things you complain about on all those different types of mass transportation does not negate their value or utility to the rest of society.

    You know, you weren’t required to be this stupid. The argument was plainly laid out for all to see including you. You chose this moment of stupidity for yourself. I’m going to blame this one on the CTE. Courage. They’re working on treatments.

Smells and screaming have a funny way of moving through the shared airspace. And since the airlines have seen fit to create mileage plans that offer upgrades to economy class passengers, any random asshole can wind up in the front of the cabin. And gate agents with most airlines are encouraged to sell discounted upgrades to the hoi polloi like you whenever there are enough unsold seats up there in order to squeeze a few dollars more out of each flight. Watching MAGA cult chuds suffering from the debilitating long term effects of CTE get caught up in the voices in their heads and missing the point entirely.

    The point here isn’t at all that flying commercial is equivalent to riding a bus, train, trolley, or ferry.

    The point is that people are shitty everywhere there are people. They are shitty on Washington state ferries. They are shitty on buses. They are shitty on passenger planes. You don’t fix any of that shittiness by getting rid of ferries, buses, or passenger planes. You just punish yourself by eliminating a valuable and useful means of transportation. This is obvious.

    What’s less obvious is why MAGA cult chuds reserve a peculiar and selective outrage and focus it exclusively on the shittiness found on buses and trains. But let’s face it. We know why. ༼••༽

The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed.

    Quite the goodie bag. Funding through the end of DJT47’s second term. No word, yet, on whether he’ll flex his kingly biceps by awarding himself a third term.

    ICE gets more than three times its annual funding
    Through this legislation, Congress is giving ICE more than three times its last annual budget. Though technically this funding is meant to cover three years, unlike a traditional annual funding bill, the money comes with few stipulations on how and when it should be spent.

    While most annual spending measures provide funds for just that fiscal year, this measure includes lump sums that need to be spent only by the end of fiscal year 2029, including:

    $38 billion for ICE to hire, pay, train and equip its officers and agents. That includes $7 billion for Homeland Security Investigations and $31 billion for immigration enforcement work like hiring more attorneys, supporting local law enforcement who coordinate with ICE and technology like body cameras;
    $22 billion for Border Patrol to pay, train, recruit and equip agents and personnel. That includes $13 billion specifically for immigration enforcement work;
    $5 billion for border security technology and screening, including artificial intelligence;
    $350 million for enforcement in localities that do not coordinate directly with ICE.

    The April peak is why Elijah @ 3 cherry-picked April to talk about jet fuel expenses, because next month he’d have to talk about how much inflation has fallen since April.

    May inflation report shows another sharp rise in prices

    U.S. consumer prices rose again in May, Labor Department data showed, further squeezing Americans’ budgets as consumer sentiment sat at record lows.

    The department’s Consumer Price Index, its measure of inflation, saw prices rise 0.5% from April to May. Over the year, they are up 4.2% — in line with forecasters’ expectations and representing the steepest increase in three years.

    Inflation rose four-tenths of a percentage point to 4.2% for the year ending in May, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in an update to the consumer price index Wednesday, as high energy prices from the Iran war pushed up the headline number.

    The inflation reading for May was the highest since April 2023.

    Gillibrand in 2017: Not having a serial abuser of women around the Senate is bigger than the interests of any one party:

    I have been shocked and disappointed to learn over the last few weeks that a colleague I am fond of personally has engaged in behavior towards women that is unacceptable. I consider Senator Franken to be a friend and have enjoyed working with him in the Senate in our shared fight to help American families.

    But this moment of reckoning about our friends and colleagues who have been accused of sexual misconduct is necessary, and it is painful. We must not lose sight that this watershed moment is bigger than any one industry, any one party, or any one person. …

    Gillibrand today: Well, maybe not bigger than the interests of the Democrat party:

    Chad Pergram
    @ChadPergram

    DSCC Chair Gillibrand: Over the past year, we have created a path to win a Democratic Senate majority and put a stop to the chaos and damage of the Trump administration by defeating the Republicans who enable his harmful agenda. Susan Collins has never been more vulnerable after she voted with Trump 96 percent of the time, confirmed his far-right judicial nominees, and took millions from special interests while voting to rip health care away from Mainers. In November, Maine voters will elect Graham Platner, and we will win a Senate majority

    Speaker Johnson isn’t the weakling liberals want to believe, and this is the latest evidence:

    Republicans used their majority to get the bill over the finish line, funding a pair of Homeland Security agencies through the next three years. The bill passed by a vote of 214-212, over the objections of Democrats. Trump is expected to sign it into law on Wednesday.

    The White House says the bill will provide $38 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, $26 billion for the Border Patrol and another $5 billion to cover unforeseen costs. It frontloads routine annual funding, ensuring a virtually uninterrupted flow of money as the Trump administration seeks to deport some 1 million people per year.

    Now, if Democrats really want to discuss weakness, let’s talk about Schumer and Jeffries.

    Update: Done deal.

    The case is remanded, not dismissed. And the state appellate ruling is under appeal. All of the original evidence and eyewitness testimony against the defendant remains intact and admissable, should a new trial be needed.

    You know we’ve been taking out millions of barrels of oil. Nobody knows it. You know who doesn’t know about it? Iran until right now. We took out the other night 22 ships with no lights ’cause they don’t have any radar ’cause we blasted the crap out of it.

    VLCCs are 2 million barrels.

    So 22 is just another empty boast like his very tiny hands.
    It’s not nothing. And at this point every barrel helps.

    But this is also why they are losing Apache attack helos and their crews. The Apache is a helluva machine, especially in night ops. But it’s incredibly complicated to operate, dangerous af, and takes literally years to train into.

    This is taking him down the same, hopeless path that burning up all of his medium range precision cruise missiles did. It’s another escalation level in the attrition and he’s leaning into it. And I’m sure that’s precisely what Iran wants. Squander enough night ops trained experienced crews to push through an extra 2 or 3% of production just so you can lie and boast about it for another news cycle. And then Iran still wins when you can’t afford to lose any more crews and air frames. 🤡

    149,

    Yeah, he’s messed up, and it shows.

    But in what way?

    Does anybody really think that Platner is a secret Nazi or secret Nazi admirer – as in actually admiring the Holocaust, the launching of WW2, the slaughter of millions, and the ruination of Germany and much of Europe?

    Or was he just a young-dumb newly minted Marine 0331 who got drunk with his buddies and picked out a shitty tattoo from a parlor in Croatia? He’s 23 at the time. At that point he’s a privileged white kid raised in a sheltered, somewhat affluent upbringing in small towns who enlisted “phony tough and crazy brave” soon after graduation from h.s. because he wanted an adventure and he knew his generational wealth would immunize him from consequences.

    I know there’s plenty of progressive liberals and many others who believe that gives them reason enough to hate or at least resent the guy. But that hardly disqualifies him. And it doesn’t make him particularly messed up either. It makes him a cliche.

    He gets into the Senate and the absolute worst case scenario (quite improbable imho) is he winds up like Fetterman – he caucuses with Democrats and helps tip them into the majority while voting 30% of the time “in a bipartisan way” with Republicans. We should clearly prefer that over Collins who caucuses with Republicans keeping Dems out of the majority and votes 100% of the time with MAGA.

    There’s a need for some realpolitik here. Supporting Platner betrays nobody. Attacking him helps reelect Collins. Sure I’d rather he was a different kind of person. But neither my personal tastes nor the personal tastes of any other smarty-pants liberal should dictate the choices of working class voters in Maine.
    We need a win. Platner is best suited to getting that. And that’s why MAGA cult chuds are trying everything to churn a tasteless drunken tattoo into a scandal. Because he scares the fuck out of them.

    Sen. John Kennedy:

    “We have accomplished in Iran what we set out to do”

    It certainly does sound as if they are getting ready to just go ahead and surrender.

    Both sides have accepted the broad architecture of a 60-day framework for ending the ongoing armed conflict. During that period: the Strait of Hormuz would reopen with no tolls and no harassment of commercial vessels. Iran would clear the mines it deployed within 30 days. The US would lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports proportionally as shipping resumes — Trump’s “relief for performance” principle. Iran would be able to sell oil freely under sanctions waivers. And both sides would use the 60 days to negotiate a more permanent settlement covering Iran’s nuclear program. The UK and France stand by ready to begin mine clearing the minute an agreement is signed (because as I’ve previously pointed out, the U.S. no longer has that capability).

    So what stands in the way of implementing the 60 day agreement remain two key issues: Iran’s right to nuclear enrichment and the territorial sovereignty of Iran according to international norms that would therefore include the waters of the strait (shared equally with Oman). This has remained a sticking point since February 28th. On these two issues the U.S. leverage consists of the naval blockade. And the Iranian leverage consists of closure of the strait.

    Since the U.S. decapitated the stable ruling leadership inside Iran in the earliest phase of the conflict in the mistaken belief that this would somehow unleash an uprising of pro-western forces and bring about transformation, there is now no stable political consensus within Iran to confront the U.S. demands on these two sticking points. The 60 day plan requires the participants to surrender their positions and grant trust to their counter party in the agreement. And within Iran, with a politically unstable leadership there is far more risk that if the U.S. betrays the agreement the leadership that entered into it will face violent reprisal. And the fear of U.S. betrayal is quite credible because fucking Trump, and also because fucking Israel, and also because of recent history. And all this is unfolding as IRGC hardliners are preparing a parliamentary vote that would cement their claims to sovereignty over the waters of the strait.

    What would the surrender look like? Without actually admitting to it, Trump removes enriched uranium stockpile destruction as a precondition to signing. And instead he makes it a key point for negotiation during the 60 days. Iran accepts binding language in a memorandum of understanding defining navigation rights in the strait that eliminates tolls but also grants Iran coordination rights over vessel transits.

    After that? Chances are Iran proceeds merrily on their way toward developing a nuclear weapons program so they don’t have to go through this shit again. And Israel resumes its efforts to try to prevent that, but without their Big Brother’s help. Iran clears its mines and France and the UK confirm it allowing the strait to reopen. Oil prices fall to $80. Inflation pressures ease. Perhaps the fed declines to raise rates. Prices for fuel, energy, groceries, food, etc. remain about where they are but cease their rapid increase.

    50/50 – Because “conservative” voters elected an 80 year old toddler who is gravely ill and may even expect to die soon.

    An investor who believes that both Iran and the US have agreed to this would sell all of his/her/its holdings in oil companies.

    Why does what an investor “believes” in any way control whatever Iran and the United States actually do?

    If the parties say one thing and do other things what actually matters is what is done. An investor who isn’t a degenerate gambler surviving on “vibes” and who wishes to come out financially sound will watch and wait. The lying troll can’t do either.

    White House plant Bari Weiss has authorized a CBS correspondent to quote an unidentified “senior administration official” claiming that Iran has agreed to “dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program”, “getting all of Iran’s enriched material”, “destroying it on-site”, and that this process will require a very long time to implement because of technical requirements:

    https://www.cbsnews.com/live-updates/iran-war-us-trump-peace-deal-agreement/

    Iran denies every word of it.

    My interpretation is that the 60 day agreement places no specific performance requirements on Iran with respect to enriched materials because of the lengthy timeline and technical requirements the “senior administration official” admitted to only when pressed in follow up calls. Both sides get a ceasefire. Iran gets the naval blockade removed. Iran gets sanctions removed. During the 60 day ceasefire some further agreement would then have to unfold regarding Iran’s civilian nuclear program that has not yet been agreed to and may not be agreed to. After that?

    Who knows?

    My expectation would be that Iran would seek to use that process during the 60 day ceasefire to further isolate the United States and Israel within the world community and the region by appearing to try to comply. And if they see any opportunity to appear to be moving forward with dismantling their peaceful nuclear program while secretly reconstituting it they will, since the Vice President is now saying that the U.S. will pay them lots of money to do so.

    Trump has negotiated a surrender that includes an agreement to pay the winner to lie to him. It’s beautiful.

    Iraq War veteran Anna King, 44, was sitting on a bench within the fenced front yard of her Washington D.C. rented home holding a sign saying “Trump Out, Fuck ICE” on May 8, 2026, when three National Guardsmen entered the enclosure uninvited and without a warrant, grabbed her and threw her to the ground, and detained her until city police arrived to arrest her for an alleged assault against National Guardsmen at a protest on May 6. (Video here; details here.)

    This is pretty straightforward. Let’s assume the Guardsmen were deputized law enforcers, law enforcement had probable cause to arrest King for the May 6 incident, and if she stepped off the property onto the public sidewalk, they could do so.

    But you can’t enter a home or curtilage with the intention of making an arrest unless you have a warrant. Even law enforcement is taught that.

    It sure looks like these Guardsmen fucked up. But then, they’re not cops, and don’t know shit about Fourth Amendment search and seizure. These weekend warriors probably install plumbing or sort mail for a living when not deployed on crimefighting duty.

    Oh, and your silly ICE dance didn’t work out for you, either:

    Through this legislation, Congress is giving ICE more than three times its last annual budget. Though technically this funding is meant to cover three years, unlike a traditional annual funding bill, the money comes with few stipulations on how and when it should be spent.

    While most annual spending measures provide funds for just that fiscal year, this measure includes lump sums that need to be spent only by the end of fiscal year 2029, including:

    $38 billion for ICE to hire, pay, train and equip its officers and agents. That includes $7 billion for Homeland Security Investigations and $31 billion for immigration enforcement work like hiring more attorneys, supporting local law enforcement who coordinate with ICE and technology like body cameras;
    $22 billion for Border Patrol to pay, train, recruit and equip agents and personnel. That includes $13 billion specifically for immigration enforcement work;
    $5 billion for border security technology and screening, including artificial intelligence;
    $350 million for enforcement in localities that do not coordinate directly with ICE.
