Glueck’s reporting relies on phone, text, and email interviews she and a writing colleague conducted with a couple of women in Maine who had at some point dated Platner previously many years in the past. In these interviews the women describe disliking aspects of his personality.
Glueck perviously served as a student liason to AIPAC, was awarded “Activist of the Year” by AIPAC, and served as co-president of Students for Israel while a student at Northwestern.
Platner has expressed outspoken opposition to the ongoing genocide being carried out by Israel against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. Susan Collins has expressed her unwavering support for continuing to supply Israel with the weapons and assistance it needs to continue carrying out its genocide against Palestinians.
Platner’s actual accuser, Lyndsey Fifield, accuses him of once having grabbed her and having once locked the bedroom door where they were spending the night together. Other than that she has described without precision or corroboration private conversations between herself and Platner in which she accuses Platner of saying things that he denies.
Fifield was a registered Republican from 2012 until at least 2016, per official voting registration records. In 2018 she helped found a group called “Ladies for Kavanaugh” to support the nomination of the Associate Justice who just wrote the dissent arguing that the 14th Amendment does not offer protection for citizenship as a birthright to those born inside the U.S. From 2015 to 2022 she worked for the Heritage Foundation, the authors of Project 2025. After that she went to work for Nikki Haley before taking her current role with a far right think tank funded by billionaires.
