    This is getting very curious. These influential voices are coming out on this point VERY LATE. The primary is June 9.

    I do not think anything will happen in advance of the primary, and Platner is going to win with no real opponent still in the race.

    BUT, under Maine law, if Platner were to drop out after winning the primary, he could be replaced by the Dems on the General Election ballot ONLY IF:

    1. He drops out prior to the 2nd Monday in July, and
    2. His replacement is named by the 4th Monday in July.

    I think we are seeing the unfolding of a plan by the Dem. establishment OUTSIDE of Maine to begin a drumbeat for Platner to exit the race after the primary, and let the Party hand-pick a replacement for the General.

    According to policing experts who spoke with the paper, Texas lawmakers “embraced school policing without establishing safeguards required for meaningful accountability.” A cop was mildly disciplined for having hogtied a 10-year-old boy with a behavioral disorder; apparently hogtying kids was a pattern for the officer. In response to the incident, the school district had to ban the practice of binding children by their hands and feet. The risks of bodily harm coming to kids across the state, however, remain tremendous: As in 16 other states, corporal punishment is legal in Texas schools.

  96. Over the weekend , budgeted extra time for the LINK Bus Bridge on my way to work, but tried out the 2 Line Shuttle. Was wondering how it would work with Judkins Park Station. Especially if it followed I-90. Good thing it didn’t, used Dearborn and Rainier, and the Eastbound on ramp for I-90 at Rainier coming from the south does have a left turn lane. I have seen bus bridges on the 1 Line that lack efficiency. Especially Westlake Station to Husky Stadium, via CHS. Some of the ones between Stadium and CHS could have been alleviated if there was a crossover or two between the stations, but wouldn’t have helped this weekend, looked like it was work on the overhead catenary, as I saw warning signs saying de-energized.(Got a good look from Royal Brougham walking to Atlantic Base to see a couple of vintage buses parked by the fence. One of them the original condition Breda Tunnel Bus. Surprised with its 3 doors it wasn’t pressed into service.

    Also, while the 1Line was operated by Metro buses, usually in a 2 bus convoy carrying traffic from a 4 car train, the 2 Line was operated using chartered coaches from Bellair. Another reason I believe our transit agencies and their trade organization should research best practices from around the world. One thing, amend the Bush era charter bus rule to require private operators that bid to operate special event services must have adequate vehicles for the job. Like no Over the Road coaches for Seafair, especially when the shuttle is usually an express run to a LINK Station. The Shuttle is needed because Metro has never really adequately served it with the regular route, and even closes stops on Genessee during that weekend.
