Besides Colbert, CBS Radio is also signing off, although I believe CBS Radio was mainly down to the top of the hour news casts. A far cry from the Columbia Broadcasting System of 100 years ago, or 80 years ago that kept Americans informed of monumental developments in WW2, like D-Day. Although breaking news that morning was Bob Trout repeating over and over after each development they got off the short wave, no official Alliee confirmation.

You ass wipes have been saying that about Mamdani for over a year.

Real New Yorkers are thrilled with him so far. He’s doing exactly what he said he would do. He’s staying focused, working with everyone, and making the city more affordable and more livable for regular, working class people, all while bringing the budget that Eric Adams broke back under control.
Sure, he’s pissing off a handful of billionaires who believe the city should cater to them exclusively. But nobody cares.🥳.

Sorry for you that you do. You obviously are no billionaire. And it’s always sad to see victims like you take up their cause. They do not own us. And they really need us far more than we need them. Stop falling for it and you’ll be much happier.

Rabb is the nominee. That makes him the winner in November. So what does that mean come January? One more vote to reform the Democratic House leadership, retire the ancient old guard, stop the catering to billionaires and Israel, really raise the federal minimum wage, really raise taxes on the top 5%, support single payer healthcare, cut off funding for the MAGA Sport Wars, sensible immigration reform, shut down the concentration camps, restore the Voting Rights Act, and reform the corrupt federal courts. And for voters in PA-03 that’s all good news.

We lost $40 million a year. We didn’t lose it because the show failed. We lost it because we spent $50 million producing what a podcast host in his garage gives away between mattress ads. The podcast is funnier. The podcast is more dangerous. The podcast has an audience that laughs instead of claps. But we had the Ed Sullivan Theater. We had 461 seats. We had a former Beatle play the farewell episode. Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello, Jon Batiste, and Louis Cato playing “Hello, Goodbye” like it was a benediction. I booked a Beatle for a funeral. The Beatles played that stage in 1964 and the audience screamed so loud you couldn’t hear the music. Our audience didn’t scream. They wept politely. That’s the difference between entertainment and church. We ran a church.

Global Scale: According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, a woman or girl is killed by a partner or family member roughly every 10 minutes.

United States: Approximately 3 women are killed by an intimate partner every day in the United States, and over half of all female homicide victims in the country are killed by current or former partners.

Annie Lowery, aka Mrs. Ezra Klein, has lost the plot.

Americans are expressing some of the deepest, broadest, and stubbornest economic pessimism ever recorded.

    With you so far..

They’re doing so even though nearly every American who wants a job has one and the stock market is booming. Things aren’t perfect, and people have plenty of reasons to be disappointed. But I couldn’t come up with a coherent explanation for why people are this down about an economy this good, or why they are so mad right now.

    Huh?

I feel obligated to harp on an unpopular and perhaps even offensive truth—a truth that Americans don’t want to hear and don’t want to believe, a truth that might get me ripped apart in the comments and actually-ed across the internet: This economy is delivering significant improvements in living standards for the majority of American families across the income spectrum. This economy is pretty darn great.

People are spending more than they ever have on rent and health care, sure, but also on DoorDash and meals in restaurants, vacations, cars, pets, clothing, and “wellness”—concierge doctors, supplements, red-light masks. Part of the reason app-based gambling has taken off is because dudes are flush enough to afford stupid prop bets.

    http://archive.today/2026.05.2.....my/687278/

And yet as she details, American are EXTREMELY UNHAPPY..

    Why? Here’s why:

American household debt is on a relentless upward trajectory. It was at a record $18.20 trillion by 2025, up $4.6 trillion since 2019. It includes $12.80 trillion owed on mortgage loans, $1.64 trillion in auto loans, $1.63 trillion on student loans and $1.18 trillion in credit card debt.

Delinquency rates – accounts that are 30 days or more behind on a payment – are also on the rise, with 4.3% of debt in some stage of delinquency.

With 90% of Americans having some form of debt, you likely can see yourself in those statistics. It’s even more likely if you’re between 30 and 59, or female, Black, or have kids.

    https://www.debt.org/faqs/americans-in-debt/demographics/

Been on that “upward trajectory” for years. Since 1973, the typical American can’t get ahead. At the same time, the financial system has made it easier for them to borrow and get further into debt.

So you have kids, you want your kids to have at least the basics so strapped parents have no choice but to charge those “basics” on the card. Housing prices and rents kept rising – that means bigger mortgage payments and yet more usage of credit to tide one over till the EITC check comes in or the seasonal moonlighting job pays off, the side gig, whatever..

Young dudes are making stupid prop bets in desperation to cover their bar tabs or make the rent.

Not once does one see the words “credit card” in her article. What a disappointment.

ICE Recruitment Tweets Are So Racist That Cops Feared They Could Incite Neo-Nazi Violence..

Colorado law enforcement officials warned their counterparts across the country that social media posts by the Department of Homeland Security recruiting for ICE contained so many white supremacist themes that they could endanger the public, according to internal records obtained by The Intercept.

Colorado officials singled out tweets mimicking memes popular in right-wing online subcultures, referencing the rhetoric, lyrics and tropes commonly used by violent white supremacists, neo-Nazis and the Third Reich. The social media campaign drew widespread criticism, with groups such as the Southern Poverty Law Center alleging that DHS “is using white nationalist imagery and language to recruit new employees and arrest immigrants.” DHS has defended its online tactics as “bold and effective.”

Next time, YLB, when you have an opportunity to mention “groups such as the Southern Poverty Law Center alleging” just about anything, to improve your credibility mention one of those other groups, and not SPLC.

In other words, YLB, when presented the opportunity be less unserious.

  77. Vicious Troll spews:

    Sunday, 5/24/26 at 6:28 pm

    @ 73

Since 1973, the typical American can’t get ahead. At the same time, the financial system has made it easier for them to borrow and get further into debt.

This from an unserious individual who has spent the last decade-plus begging for the government to make it easier for young people to obtain loans – which is going into debt – in order to buy first homes.

YLB, the financial system gave you what you wanted. Hell, it gave Bill Clinton what he wanted when his Congress passed and he signed the Community Reinvestment Act. But because people won’t stop borrowing until they have filled every room in their homes with 65″ flat screens and filled their two-car garages with a second Volvo, YLB complains about the easier borrowing.

Why did I mention Bill Clinton among all of the presidents since 1973? This is why:

Predatory lending was not an invention of the Bush administration. High-interest payday loans and subprime mortgages took off under Clinton. The morals of the marketplace were once again, “Buyer beware.” Many loans, tellingly referred to as “teaser loans,” were structured so that the monthly mortgage payments would start off low and rise significantly in the future, even while the overall loan amount—the outstanding principal—would also rise. The borrower would end up worse off several years into the mortgage than when the loan began.

But none of this was considered overly problematic by the Clinton White House. There was simply too much money to be made by lenders, brokers, bankers, bond insurers, ratings agencies, engineers of securitized assets, and managers of special investment vehicles and hedge funds. There was also too much to be gained by elected officials and regulators looking the other way.

By 1995, the subprime loan market had reached $90 billion in loan volume, and it then doubled over the next three years. Rising loan volume led to a significant deterioration in loan quality. Meanwhile, by March 1998, the number of subprime lenders grew from a small handful to more than fifty. Ten of the twenty-five largest subprime lenders were affiliated with federally chartered bank holding companies, but federal bank regulators remained unconcerned.

Debt is a good thing. Debt gets you out of bed in the morning, or at least it used to. One of today’s challenges is that people in YLB’s childrens’ generation would rather roll over and sign up for another credit card instead of go to work and pay down the balances on the cards they already have.

Their parents and their public school teachers deserve the blame, not “the financial system”.

Second, neither Clinton nor Obama (and specifically Eric Holder) covered themselves with glory by enabling the banksters and then — despite massive, systemic fraud — nobody was ever prosecuted for liar loans and fraudulent foreclosures.

It’s not as simple as flippant switch at Power Distribution’s control room. It requires turning off individual substations and locking them out, then installing running jumps on span wires. The aerial version of call before you dig. Personally, with the battery upgrade boosting off wire range, Metro should use it. Currently one of the few routes they run a trolley off wire is the 43, probably because it only runs a few times a day, as a revenue service run for Rt44 coaches.(44 runs UW to Ballard via 45th and Market).

    91,

“…at least within the borders of states that adopt this new law.”

    Sorry to burst your bubble.

But this is, imho, the political speech equivalent of state anti-usury laws. With all that is at stake, corporations, wealthy individuals, foreign agencies, and foreign individuals simply incorporate their dark money PACs and dark money PAC funding entities in states that don’t regulate, and then continue doing business as usual. Basically, the Hawaii Sec of State office has a little less filing work to deal with, and Florida gets a bit more. And the board members of that corporate entity get to take the kids to Disney World once a year for the annual meeting.

This kind of “one simple trick” solution is not really the answer. It’s not realistic to suggest that entities as powerful as giant global corporations and billionaires are going to be outmaneuvered by this kind of tweaking at the legal margins. We’ve been trying the same kind of nudges with violent, unbelievably corrupt police for decades and they’ve only grown more powerful and more unregulated as those nudges have forced them to build more influence and control over elected officials, society, and our culture.

To get money control out of politics will require massive reform of both the political system and of the financial system. But the good news is that those are also reforms that don’t require amending the constitution. They would require completely reformulating the federal courts. And that’s been overdue since the 1960s. But that can also be done without a constitutional amendment. It just requires a complete change of elected government and more progressive shift in the Democratic party.

But a man who dresses as a woman for comfort and pleasure without hurting anyone is an abomination to me and they should all be rounded up and “put on an island”.

Well, I probably shouldn’t say this, but one really big reason why centrist, conservative Democrats like Fettermaga get away with their support for Israeli apartheid, imperialism and genocide is that they get to hide behind us Republicans.

You ought to think about that some time.

    Or not!

Trump is daydreaming that Iran’s enriched uranium “will either be immediately turned over to the United States … or … destroyed in place or, at another acceptable location, with the Atomic Energy Commission, or its equivalent, being witness to this process and event.”

    https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5894298-trump-iran-enriched-uranium-deal/

P.S., the President of the United States apparently doesn’t know Congress abolished the AEC in 1974 and put its functions under the Department of Energy in 1977. Maybe somebody should ask him if he knows who the Secretary of Energy is.

The idiot is referring to the IAEA.

We had IAEA inspectors in Iran inspecting facilities, verifying compliance and testing their materials right up until May 8, 2018 when Fat Idiot unilaterally withdrew the U.S. from the agreement on the instructions of Israel. IAEA inspectors continued their work in Iran under the auspices and guidance of the UNSC. But U.S. sanctions were resumed, again on instruction from Israel. And with the resumption of sanctions Iran became less cooperative with the inspection regime and began seeking to increase enrichment to higher levels, but still well below anything approaching weapons grade.

Then in covert ops attacks in July of 2020 and April of 2021, using precision targeting data supplied to them by the Fat Idiot administration (with Biden approval) and gathered during IAEA compliance inspections, Israeli operatives sabotaged reactor fuel processing facilities. And in June of last year Israel launched the 12-day War against Iran, and proceeded to badly damage Iran’s fuel processing and storage facilities, but also kill a bunch of civilians as usual.

So yeah, Iran is pretty well done trusting international inspections. And naturally, Iran will not be interested in allowing IAEA inspectors to return ever again.

Everything Trump touches he turns to shit.

97)Surprised didn’t rehash the Forrestal Fire. Find it odd McCains Wet Start caused the Phantom to fire the rocket that hits the Skyhawk parked next to McCain’s, when his squadrons Skyhawks were parked with their noses facing the Phantoms. Saw a documentary that it was an electrical failure while the Phantom was being started. The handlers had cut corners in the process, removing safety pins that would have blocked the electrical short from firing the rockets. They were supposed to be removed just prior to catapult launch.

    114,

To be clear, under the agreement Iran was allowed to enrich. Peaceful nuclear energy, nuclear energy research, nuclear medicine, and other high energy research require enriched nuclear isotopes. A level of enrichment was negotiated that was acknowledged to be adequate for Iran’s civilian requirements while leaving them several complex technical and industrial processing steps away from “weapons” grade isotopes. That’s where they were when the MAGA cult leader blew the agreement up. By 2020, when the first Israeli covert sabotage operations were carried out, that agreement was gone and Iran was believed to be enriching fuel to levels above the limits set by those repudiated agreements.

It’s still assumed, and the collective intelligence consensus agrees, that the levels of enrichment Iran has achieved are still well short of “weapons” grade. And it is widely acknowledged that there are perfectly legitimate and even humanitarian purposes for a country like Iran, under sweeping industrial and economic sanctions, to seek to possess those nuclear materials. One example would be Technetium-99m, probably the most common isotope in nuclear medicine. The chemical precursor for Technetium-99m is produced in one of five nuclear research reactors worldwide fueled with highly enriched uranium (HEU). Without HEU Iran would have no access to most nuclear medicine.

Israel denies all of this, and claims without evidence that they can prove Iran is seeking a nuclear weapon. But they have never backed the claim up, even while carrying out sabotage attacks, assassination strikes, and bombing strikes on Iran.

And, big surprise, Israel lies a lot.

No, the Democrats are in the pocket of the Zionist lobby, too. To really affect the current situation, new parties should be elected, such as the Democratic Socialists, Libertarians, the Reform Party, the Constitution Party and others. 118,

A vote has been on the floor of the House since just before the long weekend recess Friday, forced onto the schedule by Democrats, to authorize up or down the continuation of the stupid Israeli Sport War, in accordance with the requirements of well established federal law.

This morning, because too many Republicans had defected from the AIPAC/Israeli control of the House Republican leadership and were preparing to join Democrats and vote “NO” on authorization, the Republican Speaker and the rest of the Republican leadership, according to the House rules they approved as a partisan majority, put the chamber back into recess in order to avoid that vote, and to give AIPAC and Israel additional time to threaten lawmakers running for re-election.

And so, you see, you are completely full of shit.

There is a HUGE difference between the two parties in moments like these. And like it or not, and despite it not conforming to your childish cartoon comic book understanding, moments like these are precisely what define our public policies in a republic.

I for one am content with you if you never vote for any Democrat. But if you ever again, even one single time vote for another Republican then you are a cowardly, hypocritical weakling entirely without any of the principles you come here to declare.

@118 Libertarian Party? Constitution Party? Are you joking?

The Democratic Party, like the Republican Party, will go where their voters take them. MAGA voters and their leader have led the GOP into full-blown backing of Zionist warmongering. Democratic voters are going in a totally different direction, calling out Israeli aggression, oppression, genocide, and atrocities. With voters going in different directions, the parties will end up in different places. Once again, for the umpteenth time, Democrats and Republicans aren’t the same.
