That IRS effort to investigate LAPTOP began with an IRS investigation into a Russian escort service operating in LA and Las Vegas, one that Hunter Biden used.
As a tax investigation, it follows that the evidence relied upon to bring criminal charges are found in fairly reliable financial records of banks, brokerages, and other financial institutions. Those are the charges to which Hunter Biden agreed to plead.
So what to make of potential additional charges being implied by Comer, House Republicans, and Grassley? So far as we know and so far as we have been shown these allegations are not substantiated in any financial records. Instead they are predicated on LAPTOP. But LAPTOP as a source for evidence in any criminal proceeding is incurably compromised.
The LAPTOP that walked into Mac Isaac’s shop in April of 2019 led an exciting life for sure, but in some ways that are very problematic for criminal prosecutors hoping to rely on it. It contains clear evidence that while Hunter Biden was hospitalized during a period in the winter of 2018/2019 undergoing ketamine treatments to cure his addictions and had no access to his communications accounts a lot of very significant changes to his accounts took place.
It was during this time someone (probably someone other than Hunter Biden):
Split Hunter’s Uber account, on which his two iCloud accounts had previously been joined
Accessed Hunter’s rhb iCloud account from a browser
Changed the password and related phone numbers to his rhb iCloud account
Installed and gave full access to his droidhunter gmail account a real app, called Hunter, that can send email on someone else’s behalf
Signed into that droidhunter account using a new device
Again changed emails and phone numbers associated with his rhb account
Asked for a full copy of his rhbdc iCloud account
Reset the password of that rhbdc iCloud account
Made droidhunter account the notification email for the rhbdc account
Downloaded all Hunter’s Apple Store purchases
Made changes to the Uber (and Waze) account associated with an XS phone that would be included in the “laptop”
Restored rhb as an alternate address to the account
Restored contacts from an unidentified prior change
Obtained — including at the droidhunter email account — a download link of the entire rhbdc iCloud account
Backed up the XS phone to the laptop
Gotten a trial app of a photo editor
Backed up an iPad to the laptop
Changed the iTunes password
Added the Dr. Fone account, allowing you to adopt a chosen second phone number for a phone, to a second of Hunter’s accounts
Signed into the droidhunter account from a burner phone
Restored the prior trusted phone number
Added software that could record calls
Started erasing and then locked a laptop — probably the one that would eventually end up in Mac Isaac’s store
Got a new Mac phone for the droidhunter account

This activity is all documented in emails included in the LAPTOP data. And it would certainly give tremendous pause to any forensic investigator with the FBI, IRS, or any AUSA assigned to work on the case, to pursue any criminal charges relating directly to those contents of LAPTOP.
We can only speculate about what the fuck was going on. Records also indicate that the Russian escort service attempted to gain control over Hunter Biden’s Venmo account at about the same time. Clearly Hunter Biden, and his life, were a mess rich with opportunity for exploitation by others. And it would certainly appear that some other did just that beginning in 2019.
Originally it was all intended to keep Joe Biden out of the race. Later it became an effort to discredit the nominee. Now it is an effort to shield insurrectionists from criminal accountability and politically weaken a Democratic President.
But regardless of the origins and motivations, LAPTOP is essentially useless to any credible prosecution of Hunter Biden. And no amount of wish-casting from House Republicans or Whistleblower X can change that.

Trump’s defense to some of the criminal charges may be that he had an “official duty” as President to take certain steps. This charge basically says “go ahead – make my day”. Victims could be Joe Biden, voters in the fake elector states, or state officials in the fake elector states.
Tampering with a witness, 18 U.S. Code § 1512, could be a few things. They may have receipts showing Trump sought to pressure testimony. But it might also the subsection relating to disrupting an official proceeding.
This indictment will end up being filed in the DCDC. So no “friendly idiot” judge to rely upon to slow down the Jack Smith Rocket Docket. But some leeway may be granted given the sheer volume of legal issues facing Trump and his lawyers. Three major criminal indictments and two major civil trials all coming down on him. Lots of complex discovery. Still I won’t be surprised to see trial set for next spring/summer.

It’s a law that has its roots in Reconstruction following the Civil War, intended to crack down on the Klan as an organized conspiracy to prevent newly freed Black citizens from voting and holding elected office, which if you didn’t know is why the Klan was founded.

This is a law that is regarded as being fundamental to a functioning democracy. It’s well understood and supported in principle throughout history by lawmakers, and voters alike. As voters we all want to feel that our votes count the same as any other vote. And probably nothing more infuriates the individual voter than the idea that their vote might be treated unfairly or discarded.
But this is the essence of what Donald J. Trump is about to be indicted over. A conspiracy among high ranking White House, Republican, Trump campaign, and Republican state officials to selectively discard targeted votes cast by targeted voters in targeted states. So it’s probably fitting that it now appears that Trump will be indicted under the Klan Act. Fuck yes.

Because in at least a few cases, the votes and voters being targeted for disposal were absolutely being targeted because of the assumed racial identities of the voters and the officials conducting the voting. It’s been there all along. The overt racial nature of Stop the Steal was always right out in the open. And it’s why the efforts to prevent Black and Brown people from voting and make it harder to count their votes have not let up. It’s a playbook as old as the Klan itself.
