It’s good that the City of Seattle is returning ownership of objects found in 2013 to the Upper Skagit Tribe. It’s a bit strange that the City Council needs to be involved. It seems like it should be automatic. But if that isn’t the process, I am glad they didn’t get in the way.

Anyway, please wash your hands right now. Right now. And get vaccinated, for goodness sake, if you’re not already. And boosted if you’re eligible and haven’t been yet.

    Although the T-Line extension in Tacoma is not going to open until next year, the first Brookville Liberty streetcar ordered for the extension has just been shipped. Closest thing we got o a purely American design. Built by a mining equipment company that decided to diversify. First forays into streetcars were refurbishment of older cars from SF MUNI, and SEPTA and assisting in building Replicas for New Orleans. Their Liberty modern streetcar is an adaptable design. Even has several off wire options.

    On the prev thread Degen wishes to equate Tulsi Gabbard’s acceptance of payments from Russian espionage agents with Goldy’s acceptance of a salary from his employer.

    This is by way of defending Ms. Gabbard.

    Not actually helping to admit that Putin was Gabbard’s employer in 2020.

    This ends Gabbard. She can’t even change parties. And FOX will quietly cancel her bookings. Whatever other financial arrangements she may have with our foreign adversaries, now that her credibility is incinerated so too is her value to them.

    I’d recommend reading @MrOlmos’ analysis of her bizarre and argumentative responses to perfectly legitimate questions from a very conservative reporter who works for a very conservative television station.

    But it’s also worth asking, why?
    Why does the politically ambitious “rising star” Republican Lt. Governor of Idaho travel to Florida and speak in front of an audience of young anti-Semites, neo-Nazis, Klansmen, Holocaust deniers, and Proud Boys?

    Because for all the surge in energy, base activism, money, and engagement among “conservatives” in the Trump era, there are big concerns among “conservatives” and Republicans about growth and staying power. The backlash against immigration reform and minority outreach that destroyed the careers of Republican leaders like Eric Cantor and John Boehner essentially put an end to the “big tent” coalition era of the GOP that began with Richard Nixon and reached it’s peak with Ronald Reagan.

    Certainly not every Republican agrees. But for those like McGeachin on the extreme, white nationalist far-right of the party spectrum, reaching out to the Groyper Nation of young anti-Semites, Nazis, and Klansmen is “expanding the base”. And though she may be on the right of her party, McGeachin and those like her are in the vanguard of the party ideologically. And that means they promise to consistently turn “normies” like suburban security moms and NASCAR dads off in general elections.

    And I think it’s important and worthwhile to point out that while rising star Republicans like McGeachin and so many others on the campaign trail this year are aggressively reaching out to organized groups of racists, bigots, and authoritarian terrorists, and reflecting and validating their rhetoric, less extreme Republicans have almost no response other than to complain “Stop calling us racists”.

    I don’t think anyone ever argued that some of the documents presented by The New York Post and claimed to have been recovered from an invisible, non-existent laptop were genuine. That is of course a key element of any competent disinformation smear – the inclusion of some genuine and seemingly private documents among the fakes.

    These are of course email exchanges that involved a Ukraine based energy company named Burisma and that included other company directors and officials. The authenticity of these emails can be verified by checking with those other parties in the emails and with the records at Burisma, the Ukraine based company. No laptop required. And not incidentally, no laptop ever produced.

    These Burisma records first came to light in an investigation into the company in Ukraine launched by Yuri Lutsenko in the same year that Russia first began giving campaign assistance to Donald Trump. You’ll recall Yuri Lutsenko as the twice removed from office prosecutor caught and convicted repeatedly for official corruption during the scandal plagued years when Putin was obtaining puppet control over Ukraine (and Trump) by election fraud. Lutsenko was finally removed from office in 2019 by global freedom hero Vlodymyr Zelensky after his stunning election defeat of Putin’s corrupt minions. You’ll also recall that Lutsenko was the purpose of Trump’s threat to withhold security assistance to Zelensky and abandon Ukraine to Putin’s imminent invasion. Trump and the GOP were demanding Zelensky reinstate the corrupt prosecutor as a favor for their pal PooTin, and so that PooTin would have a third option for destabilizing Ukraine from within and so that Lutsenko could relaunch another corrupt investigation targeting Biden for Trump. Win-win!

    So the emails themselves are undoubtedly authentic, having been provided to Rudy Giuliani by Lutsenko in 2019 when he held frequent meetings with Giuliani representing Trump as his personal attorney.

    And the NYT admits that the emails are authentic.
    But not the claims about any invisible laptop.
    That story had to be fabricated in the beginning in order to conceal the corrupt true origin of the documents which demonstrate Trump, Giuliani, Lusenko, and Putin all working in concert on what John Bolton called “their drug deal in Ukraine”.

    And the New York Post, Degen, and Trump are now admitting that they all worked on PooTin’s behalf to try to destabilize Ukraine, blackmail global freedom hero Zelensky, and produce a smear campaign targeting the guy who beat their sorry asses fair and square even while they cheated and lied in every conceivable way.
    They are admitting that “the Ukrainian drug deal” story was all true. They are admitting that Trump was guilty as fuck when he was impeached the first time.

    The U.S Chamber of Commerce noted that because the federal government rolled out enhanced unemployment benefits during the pandemic, alongside stimulus checks and local lockdown measures, Americans collectively added $4 trillion to their savings account since early 2020.

    Enhanced unemployment benefits specifically added a few extra hundred dollars to unemployment assistance, which led to 68 percent of claimants earning more money on unemployment than they did while working.

    Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit also left out that the people who quit soon learned that the grass isn’t greener on the other side of the fence:

    One-in-five indicated it was very or somewhat difficult to find a new job.

    Interestingly, many of the issues that drove respondents to quit in 2021 haven’t exceptionally improved in their new jobs. Fewer than half of workers who quit a job last year, 42 percent, said they now have better benefits. That includes things like health insurance and paid time off.

    About one-in-five, 22 percent, said their current benefits in their new job are worse than their last job.

    What all of this means is Congress gave people far more money than they needed, which enabled them to make stupid decisions, which did not improve their lives.

    A survey by the job-finding website TheMuse.com shows that 72% of workers who walked away from their positions during the pandemic found their next job or employer failed to meet their expectations. That proportion applies to employees across all industries, including restaurants.

    The researchers dubbed the phenomenon Shift Shock.

    Nearly a third (29%) of the acknowledged Shift Shock victims said their disappointment extended both to the new position and the company they joined. Roughly 2 of 5 (41%) indicated they’d give the new gigs two to six months before doing something about the job.

    Nearly half (48%) said they’d try to get their old jobs back.

    It’s not the “right” to quit. It’s the undeserved subsidy to quit.

    The bright side is that the massive debt that all of this free money created will be the burden of YLB’s kids. Her kids will die young and miserable. Seems fair.
