The latest Washington Poll of 600 registered voters, conducted October 18 to 26, shows Gov. Chris Gregoire leading Republican challenger Dino Rossi by a 48-43 margin. When leaners are included, Gov. Gregoire’s lead increases slightly to 51-45. That’s the second public poll in a row to suggest the race may be breaking toward Gov. Gregoire after months in a virtual deadlock.
Other findings from the poll: Barack Obama leads John McCain 55-34, I-1000 leads 56-38, I-1029 leads 65-20, Prop 1 leads 50-43, and I-985 remains a toss-up at 45-43.

It’s just gotta totally suck being a BIAW troll these days.
YLB spews:
This is good. It looks like we’re going to dodge the bullet.
I hope BIAW’s members fall away or send Tom McCabe packing to Wyoming.

I must confess I’m amazed. Rossi’s been pumping the airwaves in a tidal wade of disinformation. I could understand how somebody who hadn’t been paying pretty close attention to what’s been going on over the past four years could be misled.
But just maybe, the Republican label is finally sticking to Rossi, and the negative ads are being seen for the garbage that they are.
Proud To Be An Ass spews:
Prop 1 leading?…..simply astounding.
The thought of Rossi’s dipshit vacant smile going the way of Billy Kristol’s is deeply satisfying.
Two Dogs spews:
The high percentage of “certains” leads me to believe that lots of people have already filled out their ballots. So this poll may mean something.

The first post-election crisis may concern what to do with all the festering, maggot-ridden Republican corpses that will be littering the landscape. The toxicity of the corpses would prevent them from making good compost, and likewise even prevents us from sticking them in the ground without triggering Superfund considerations. So, what should we do?

In partially unrelated news:
Newseek is reporting that Mattel’s market capitalization has suprassed General Moters. Or perhaps the better way to put it, is that General Moter’s market capitalization has dropped to the point where it is lower than that of a toymaker.
In the near future a Hot Wheels might be your only choice for an American-made car. Assuming that they, too, aren’t made in China now.
My, God, Jan. 20th can’t come soon enough!!!!!
rhp6033 spews:
Also, the DJIA dropped another 200+ points again today. Not that a drop in excess of 200 points even gets our attention these days, except that it brings us to a level of 8,175, or an average annual loss of over 6% during the eight years of the Bush administration – not accounting for the loss of value due to inflation.
YLB spews:
6 – Plasma flash incineration or maybe thermal de-polymerization – that would convert the corpses into crude oil (drill baby drill) with mineral by-product for fertilzer. But I wouldn’t take any chances. I’d dump that in one of the northern pacific gyres where stuff can go round and round in big circles with all the plastic pollution.

Excellent idea, and I’d bet it would lead to the creation of some new jobs. Win-win, clearly.
YLB spews:
The people weren’t fooled.
Rossi is a REPUBLICAN and that means LIES, CORRUPTION, INCOMPETENCE, FAILURE, MISERY..
Upton spews:
That’s good to see about Gregoire and I-1000..that Martin Sheen ad is making me sick.
Ryan spews:
Lord, I’m not always the best Christian, especially when I’ve had my whiskey, but if you’d please help Governor Gregoire win the election, I promise I’ll think an awful lot more about attending service or synagogue or meeting or temple or whatever is your will.
Ernestly,
–Ryan–
Roger Rabbit spews:
Good Lord, not a single troll post in this thread so far. Did they all decide to jump the gun on I-1000? I mean, we haven’t even held the election yet …
Steve spews:
@14 I commented on this on the other thread. I figure the BIAW canned them all so they could save for attorney fees.
Roger Rabbit spews:
While I’m glad Gregoire is comfortably ahead, I wish the margin was bigger than this. I want Rossi to suffer a crushing defeat on the scale of 39% – 61% so he won’t run again. He’s not qualified to be governor and hasn’t made a constructive contribution to political debate in this state. Washington citizens will be better off if he departs the political life scene.
YLB spews:
Rossi has been groomed for the Governor’s mansion by BIAW since at least the second Gary Locke term.
I don’t see him waiting another 4 years but stranger things have happened I suppose.
clarlynn spews:
Ryan, I’m not even a little bit religious, but I do that too, anyway.
I couldn’t agree more with Roger Rabbit. Rossi is and always will be a loser. Let’s all hope he realizes it and goes back to some other enterprise. If politics doesn’t land him in prison, maybe real estate will.
zapporo spews:
Hopelessly.
Deluded.
Ship of Fools that is HA.
I loved the moment this morning as her endless commercials played, when she looked straight into the camera and boldly stated that she has never supported an income tax.
Too bad we’ve already seen the tape of her being interviewed by the Spokesman-Review.
It’s really sad the depths that she has sunk to just to try to hold on to power.
clarlynn spews:
I really wish Rossi would just quit and move on. Hey, maybe he should try Alaska, I hear there’s an opening there for a Senator.
Jim Vaughn spews:
I am not surprised at the attacks by Gregoire. As a small business owner, I am getting raked over the coals in taxes. For example, for $1 million dollars in sales we pay $15,000 and Boeing pays $2,800.
In addition, we have over 50 taxes in our state and I don’t see it getting any better with our current governor.
If Gregoire is re-elected we need to change the Washington State Seal to a tape worm dressed in a three piece suit attached to the small intestine of the tax payer, sucking the life out of him.

Yes, I am a Democrat
AverageVoter spews:
I came to this site through an anti-Dino ad on facebook. I am not swayed by any of these posts. They are the most juvenile wastes of space. How about a little substance in your post like this Jim Vaugh guy did. At least he gave a real figure to support his opinion. I think I’m voting Dino. Gregoire totally blew OUR largest surplus ever! Thats my main issue. She cannot be trusted with our current economic crisis -though she should have taken action as this could have been foreseen long ago.
