What city are they moving to by July if they don’t get a $500 million addition to their stadium in the next two months?

It’s one down and two to go as far as I’m concerned. Pro sports teams are a bunch of leaches.

Speaking of football:
Rick Neuheisel, having left two football programs with significant NCAA sanctions to deal with due to his conduct or lack of oversight, had his first spring practice as head coach of his old alma mater, UCLA.
The players immediatly ditched practice, en masse. Apparantly it’s a team tradition?

As for the Seahawks, the “by week” in September is just wasted. Why couldn’t we get one towards the end of the season, when the players really need it to recover from the usual string of nagging injuries?
And that Thanksgiving Day game at Dallas is going to be a killer. Usually players take Monday off to recover a bit from the usual aches and pains you get when two 300+ lb bodies collide at full speed. But this schedule only gives them three days (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) to study game film, put together a strategy, practice a few play variations, and get on a plane to travel to Dallas. Then they play before a Dallas home crowd and in front of a national TV audience.

rho @ 10 – So true. I wonder what Dallas’ record is on Turkey Day.
Luckily for the Hawks, with the division they are in, 8-8 ought to be enough to make the playoffs, so they can write off that game at Dallas right now. Maybe that is the game they let Alexander play in? (Although I’m thinking they’ll cut him pretty soon.)

I’ve wondered if the NFL was going to pick up on that and set the Bye weeks according to record. That may make it very difficult to do and still make the schedule work though…
Broadway Joe spews:
With the acquisitions of Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett, Shaun Alexander’s only presence in Seattle will be his name on the Hawks’ Ring of Honor, and those silly-ass commercials he did for Casey Treat’s megachurch. He’s out no later than June 1, bank on it. And I predict around ten or eleven wins, and yet another division title. 13-3 is a possibilty, with the only really difficult games on the schedule being the Giants away and Patriots at home, and Dallas on Thankgiving Day will be a bitch-and-a-half.
rhp & Lee:
Yeah, the bye-week being so early is kind of a bummer, but the whole system is designed so that every team has a week off by Week 9 at the latest, with the bye-week for each team being determined at random. But having two weeks to prepare for the Giants isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
