Yes Goldy let’s talk about Publican crook number 128,222,333. Stevens is a punk who’s going down along with the rest of the GOP crooks. And the righties will stand there in shock and awe as their gang eventually, one by one goes off to the big house where they belong.
Because a North Carolina state politician has neither the clout nor the national influence that a US Senator wields, and because most of us really aren’t that interested in the internal politics of the North Carolina state government.
However, if you want the overall opinion of most Democrats, I’ll just say that Mr. Black had his day in court and was found guilty. He belongs in jail and I have little sympathy for him. Hopefully he will be a model prisoner, stay out of trouble and never again enter the political arena.
I have no problem supporting jail time for crooked Democrats, as I believe we cannot allow that sort of rot in our party.
It is interesting, however, how many Republicans seem to believe that crooked Republican politicians should be pardoned, or have their (shorter) sentences commuted.
From what I can tell, Mr. Black’s crimes were very similar to those of a prominent Texas Republican, Mr. DeLay. Pray tell me, when will Mr. DeLay be reporting to prison?

While the story you link to is tragic, apparently you missed one rather important part. The fifteen year old father wanted his girlfriend to get an abortion. She wouldn’t, so he beat her up.
Nobody has the right to beat up another person, and the whole idea of the pro-choice movement is that the woman, who has to risk her health and carry the lion’s share of the burden of child-rearing gets to make the choice as to whether or not she carries the fetus to term.
So, this woman commits statutory rape, and then insists on putting the burden of fatherhood on a fifteen year old child. He reacted badly, and very immaturely.
On several levels, this is a very neo-con set of actions. The woman commits statutory rape of a child. The father insists that he (and he alone) has the right to choose whether the woman will carry the fetus to term, and you somehow try blame liberals for the whole mess, despite the fact that at every point, our standards were violated by people doing what neo-cons have become famous (infamous?) for.

This does explain somethign then. These people are neither my representatives nor your representatives. They are merely commenters on a blog.
My representatives are the people I vote for, and the people who hold positions of responsibility in, for example, organizations I support with my dolalrs, such as the Democratic Party. If youy can find an eledcted WA or US representative or an actual spokesperson for the Democratic Party who says that John Roberts should die from his seizure, I’ll cop to their representing me.

So Chuck Schumer says that the administration should no longer be able to count on “the presumption of confirmation” for radical rightist USSC nominations, and that is somehow ignoring the Constitution? Did you ever read Article II Section 2 of the US Constitution? I didn’t think so.
You know what is “ignoring the Constitution?” When the Attorney General of the United States signs off on a plan to wiretap Amercians without warrants and keep their communications in a hige database we will then mine for years, all in violation of the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution AND the explicit laws passed by the Congress in the form of FISA.
