SEATTLE — A man accused of drunken driving told state police that his 4-year-old son was at the wheel of his sport utility vehicle when it crashed into a tree.
Carl Grossman, proud liberal Democrat, 43, of Seattle,, told police that his son was sitting on his lap and turned the wheel too far to one side, sending the SUV off the road.
Grossman faces a preliminary hearing Sept. 21 on charges of drunken driving, child endangerment, reckless endangerment and driving without a license.
No phone number for Grossman could be found. Court records do not indicate that he has an attorney, district court officials said.
Grossman received facial injuries in the crash, and the child was treated and released for unspecified injuries, authorities said.

The 11 supposed conservative talking points are interesting, because they are totally useless as written. They already presuppose that any answer that doesn’t agree with them is wrong/unpatriotic/loony, and end up showing the conservative mindset in a very bad light.
They remind me of a poll question someone called and asked me once:
“Do you think we should be in Iraq, or are you against the War on Terror and our American way of life? Yes or no?”
There are actually 3 questions being asked in this question:
1. Do you think we should be in Iraq?
2. Are you against the “War on Terror”?
3. Are you against our American way of life?
but 2 and 3 are being used to try and frame your answer to 1 as being either patriotic or unpatriotic. Looking at them seperately, you see they have little to do with each other.
The “Yes/No” answers are also impossible for this type of question. Human beings are not machines with “either/or” beliefs, they are complex beings.
People can think we shouldn’t be in Iraq because we should be in Afghanistan finishing what we started, for example. This doesn’t make them against the “War of Terror” or “against our America way of life”, it just means they think we should be finishing what we started in Afghanistan.
Trying to turn complex issues into rubber-stamped yes/no nonsense just makes it that much harder to resolve the issue. Let’s take a look and see if we can fix that so we can all talk like adults.
Sometimes 1 question is actually 3 or 4 in those ‘talking points’ and sometimes the reverse, so we may end up with a different number of questions.
1)1. How do you feel about what you perceive as the most productive members of society?
1)2. Who do you think are the most productive members of society?
1)3. What do you think is a fair tax rate for these people?
2)4. How do you feel about the initiative process as set forth in our State’s constitution?
3)5. How do you feel about taxpayer-funded programs?

3)7. Which of the above do you feel should be in charge of policy?
4)8. How do you feel about religion?
4)9. How do you feel about the separation of church and state?

Actually, I have some hope that William Ford may manage to turn Ford around. It would please me greatly if he can change the corporate culture of gas-guzzling behemoths.
But unfortunately, even in the corporate world, CEO does not mean “King”. Ford is suffering from years of emphasizing big trucks and SUVs at the expense of smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles. Unless Mr. Ford is willing to replace large segments of his upper management team, he’ll find that companies like Toyota will continue to surpass his company.
And since it has been the right wing that has consistently opposed higher MPG standards, and even refused to enforce the standards already in place, I’ll continue to lump Ford’s management team in the right-wing category, right next to Exxon’s management team.
Oh, and since when do you right-wingers have a problem with the free market? Ford builds gas-guzzlers, Toyota builds more efficient vehicles that people want.
One last bit. When I have the choice between two reasonably equivalent products, I do buy American. That’s why I currently drive a Mercury Mystique. (Contour was the Ford model.) Nice, efficient little car. Carries four people in reasonable comfort. They do look a bit like a Toyota, and you may have mistaken some of those cars driven by us “moonbats” for Toyotas, when they were Contours (or Saturns, another popular “moonbat” vehicle, built here in the US).
Too bad they aren’t still making them. If I have to replace it, there aren’t many American made equivalents. I’m hoping that Ford follows through on their hybrid program. It may well be the future for that company.
