The outcome was obvious six months ago. Trump will get acquitted.

The senator I’d most like to see disrobed.
Sen. Kyrsten Sinema Stands And Applauds Tax Cuts Amid Sitting Democrats
Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona broke from her Democratic colleagues by giving a standing ovation for “opportunity zones” during President Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday. While the majority of Democrats sat as Trump commended Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., for his work on opportunity zones, Sinema stood and applauded her colleague.
Opportunity zones were created in tandem with the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. They provide tax advantages for certain investments in lower income areas.
I was looking at opportunity zones in the south Snohomish Couny area. There’s one in the vicinity of the Paine Field airport. Within it, the average resident income is, like, $55k. How is that a zone of poor residents?
Anyway, back to Senator Sinema. I don’t care how she votes later today. It’s nice to see someone on the Democrat side of the aisle in addition to Joe Manchin who can credibly be referred to as “moderate”. Y’all have claimed that people like that have been kicked out of the Democrat party. Bragged about it, even.
Nice to know y’all didn’t finish the job.

Liz Warren Finishes In 5th Place In Pocahontas County, Iowa
Warren has claimed throughout her academic career that she has Cherokee ancestry. She listed herself as “Native American” on a Texas state bar registration form in April 1986 and as a minority in the Association of American Law Schools directory from 1986 to 1994.
She taught at Harvard Law School before she became a politician, and as recently as 1996, the school referred to her as Harvard Law School’s only Native American professor.
Madam Speaker really got under the dotard’s skin last night, eh?

Allege? No, alleging. You’ve been doing it, along with treasonous other behavior, for the past 3 years.

Looking at the low turnout estimate in Des Moines late Monday night, an adviser to one candidate said simply, “Wow.”

…if a majority of aging, liver spotted, per-diabetic, non-college-educated rural white folks are unenthused about national politics right now, I’m cool with it.
That really isn’t your problem, QoS McHillbilly.
This is your problem:
Entrance polls showed first-time caucus-goers down this year, to about one-third of all caucus-goers. That fell lower not only than 2008, when nearly 60 percent of caucus-goers were first-time participants, but also 2016.
It was a deflating acknowledgment for a party that is desperate to register and turn out first-time voters in the fall.
Maybe they’ll get excited about Mayor Cheat sometime down the road. But Mayor Cheat will be taken out by The DNCBloomberg.
Not much excitement about another rich white guy in his 70s, is there?

And then, your tribe says, it will be 1860 all over again.
So, Dumbfuck, the question is: Will you accept the election legitimate if we do? Will you let a Democrat govern?
Whatever your answer, the GOP’s response is clear: Not a fucking chance.
Elections don’t matter to Republicans anymore. They’ve already imposed a rightwing dictatorship in their minds — to hell with the voters if they don’t agree to it — and for them, it’s now only a matter of implementation. Implementing with guns, if necessary.*

Roger Rabbitspews:
Susan Collins is now officially a national joke.
“After much hemming and hawing, … Collins announced on Tuesday that she would vote to acquit President Donald Trump ….
“‘I do not believe the House has met its burden that the President’s conduct, however flawed, warrants the extreme step of immediate removal from office,’ Collins said in a speech on the Senate floor. … [‘blah blah blah’].”
“Which, OK. Collins’ argument … boils down to this: Sure, what Trump did isn’t great — and I wouldn’t have done it. But inappropriate isn’t the same thing as impeachable. Had Collins left it there, she would have been fine. But she didn’t leave it there. … Collins said ‘I believe that the President has learned from this case’ and that Trump ‘will be much more cautious in the future.’ HA HA HA.”
This is the naivete of a 6-year-old. Or someone in pathological denial. Or a blimp-sized liar.
I’m inclined to opt for the latter. Collins has never been the so-called “moderate” she pretends to be. She’s one of McConnell’s tin soldiers, marching to his orders; always has been, always will be. We’ll soon find out whether this is okay with the Maine voters she pretends to represent.

59, “Dumbfuck is hopeless. He needs to get his act together or he’s the enemy.”
Of America? He’s just the enemy, period.
Think about it. If some person from some other country stood at a point of entry to the US and made the declarations that bot-farm has made over the last three years they’d be denied entry, much less citizenship and the right to vote. These people really have declared their opposition to the rule of law and the constitution.
To wit, and in point of fact they are categorically unwilling to absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty. Moreover, and as events in the Senate today amply demonstrate they are unwilling to support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America. Nor are they willing to bear true faith and allegiance to the constitution.
It’s pretty clear people like that should not be here.
But it doesn’t stop there. Bot-farm and his ilk have repeatedly and consistently over the past three years set out to attack and do injury to the Constitution and laws of the United States of America on behalf of both a lawless president but also on behalf of at least one foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty.
They are the enemy. It doesn’t matter why. It doesn’t matter that the march of globalization made their 10th-grade educated butt hurt, or that seeing a black family eat healthy food while listening to Nina Simone in the White House gave them a diminished sense speshulness. We’re past that. Fuck Hillbilly Elegy and the New York Times. They can assign a special correspondent to every single aging white racist in middle America and it won’t redeem a single goddam one of them or bring them back into the American fold.
And whatever you do, don’t disrespect their lack of sophistication, humble racism, simplistic reasoning, and triple chins. And NEVER tear up your complimentary copy of their RapeHero’s speeches.

Over the years I’ve many times likened the HA comment threads to an Old West movie saloon brawl: When you crotch-kick somebody, or hit him with a chair, it’s all in good clean fun.
Please do not post suspected names of trolls who have chosen to be anonymous, or make any attempt to identify them, no matter how deserving of being “outed” you feel they are.
That’s a precedent I don’t want established on this blog. If we can do it to them, they can do it to me. That will make it much harder for me to ask Goldy or Darryl to banish Shortbus or anyone else for trying to “out” me, and that could persuade my Roger Rabbit character to disappear.
I agree there shouldn’t be a bunch of the Mayor Pete quilts out there, they should be unique.
But I’m always impressed with quilt work – I’d love to have her make me one (of any other kind that she can think of – it could be farmhouse for all I care – she’s the artist) and buy it from her and then she could split or give partial of her money to Mayor Pete. I know that kind of sounds stupid, but she should overprice them and then give that extra “over pricing” over to the campaign – a win win win situation for everyone.

@59 ” I’m only surprised Roger doesn’t realize that yet.”
Oh, but I do. These people have talked up civil war for years. The “cival war” umpire didn’t start it, he merely misspelled it. Ann Coulter wrote a book years ago that talked about “executing” liberals or putting us in “concentration camps.” Some asshole down in Federal Way (I forget his handle) repeated the same thing either on HA or Stefan’s now-extinct sucky little blog (I don’t recall now), and I went after him for it. This was the basis for my “Liberals must arm” mantra.
I recognized something else, too: Except for a few hotheads on their fringes, they never intended to fight this civil war with bullets, having apparently learned a lesson from their ancestors’ experience. It’s underway, and they’re fighting it with voter suppression, dirty tricks, racial discrimination, propaganda, and now demagoguery and foreign subversion of our elections.
America’s Civil War 2.0 is underway. Do not be deceived by the absence of gunfire. They’re saving that for last. I don’t think Coulter was kidding, nor do I think she’s an outlier; she gives voice to their aspirations, and that’s why her books and speeches sell so well. I do suspect, however, that she’s in it only for the money and doesn’t give a damn how it turns out.

Roger Rabbitspews:
@65 Cuts both ways. I no longer care if their coal jobs go away, their communities rot, and their kids overdose. God helps those who help themselves, and if God can’t help them, it’s beyond my power also. The big chip they wear doesn’t exactly motivate me to want to.

I can forgive and forget. To not to, doesn’t move you forward.
If you, or anyone, ever decides to visit NYC – I would suggest June when you can experience the longest and best Parade in NYC or any city. Who knows – maybe even Mayor Pete might be in attendance this year.
The parade can be a bit crazy for some, but it really is one of the best parades.

And that’s from the Fox’s mouth, not some “liberal” outlet.

Roger Rabbitspews:
Meanwhile, Susan Collins walks back her earlier remarks:
“On Wednesday, Collins told a reporter from Maine outlet WGME-TV that she used the wrong verb” when she said Trump has “learned a lesson” from his impeachment. “A better word, she decided, would have been [she] ‘hopes’ …” he has.
Roger Rabbit Commentary: So Collins, after voting to “exonerate and vindicate” Trump, and “remove the cloud” hanging over him, now “hopes” for a better-behaved Trump in the future. Okay, boomer. (From one boomer to another).

At least if you watch it on tv you have the hosts narrating. In person all you do is watch them walk by waving. And the attendees, although they might be all smiley, the hardly make any noise, I can’t even remember if they clapped.

It’s okay with me for you to attack that SOB Darryl and heterosexuals, including me. Heterosexuals have done a lot worse than attack LGBTQ with just words. You don’t need me to tell you about Matthew Shepard.
Besides, if you think that’s bad, try reading what his students have to say about him. I’d post a link but the SOB would ban me too.
That’s why Marvin was banned. Darryl simply couldn’t fucking deal with it. And he was so cowardly about it, he had to make shit up.
Fuck Darryl. All he does anymore is post links he gathers through the week that are already irrelevant when he posts them. I haven’t paid any attention to his shit for years.

90
Elijah Dominic McDotcomspews:
Let me add to Red that for anyone angry enough or better yet energized and enthusiastic enough to want to make a difference you can help with turnout in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania without having to go there, and you don’t have to give money.
Trump in particular and Republicans in general will depend upon disillusionment of voters to depress turnout in those states. His combined margin of victory in those states was less than 78,000 votes. Overcoming margins like that with a well organized turnout effort is a very achievable goal. Plenty of people are already hard at work trying to help make sure that happens. Once very good example would be https://www.turnoutpac.org/ They are specifically targeting voters who did not cast a ballot in 2016 in the key battleground states.
They are opening 60 field offices right now and hiring and training several thousand paid canvassers to fan out and directly contact over 7 million voters in those states who did not vote in 2016. They will depend on lots of volunteers to support them, including remote volunteers to make that happen.
Other similar groups with similar structures and similar numeric goals are working to register college students, low income single moms, and the working poor in key battleground states. Still others are focusing on identifying and targeting the large number of voters who cast ballots for third party candidates in 2016.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it won’t matter who the Democratic Party nominates. Trolls and traitors will find whatever the fuck excuse they need to somehow blame them so they can once again vote for treason. But that coin has another side to it. It ultimately won’t matter to most progressive Real American voters who the Democratic Party nominates either. They want to see Trump gone just as much as any of us. They will vote for the Democratic Party nominee if we can just get them to come out and vote. And all it takes is 100,000 of them in the right states. That’s trivial.
91
Stevespews:
“Please either calm it down or stop reading this site.”
No intentions to offend you, Red, but I don’t come here to please anybody and never have. But if you want to get rid of me, I will not be offended. I’m sure if you ask Carl or Darryl, they will gladly oblige. Banning isn’t an effective way of ridding someone from these threads anyway, but I would respect that and leave.
(u)SP tried banning me, Pudge several times, but I ignored them.
Personally, I think the site has already died because the blogging activity is non-existent compared to what it once was. It only lives on in the threads where no one new has shown up for a very long time.
92
Stevespews:
And all it takes is 100,000 of them in the right states.
And yet it’s so hard to do, especially given the fascist’s need to deny Americans their right to vote.

Personally, I think the site is alive but not doing well.
There will be very substantial, albeit perhaps brief, improvement when the Monte Carlo analyses start up. Traffic might be greater than in past quadrennial election years due to the fever libbies have to bounce Trump.
But then what?
Steve, one of the reasons the site is not doing well is that for months you have brought nothing to it other than calling me a traitor and linking me to Putin. I repeat, Steve, you have brought nothing to HA other than to make fun of me.
Howz that working out for you? You will soon be consolidating yourself around a man in his late 70s, one who not long ago was a Republican, who chose to buy the Democrat nomination. You will do this in hopes of beating Trump, because for the second straight primary season the DNC will take down Bernie Sanders.
In doing this, Steve, you will in all likelihood lose. Again.
I keep pointing out the merit in some of the candidates who have not caught on. You keep responding that I am in bed with Putin.
Steve, what value do you bring to HA? What useful commentary have you made in the last several months?

Elijah Dominic McDotcomspews:
92,
It’s not that hard. It’s just that prior to Obama in 08 nobody was doing it. And nobody has done it since. Big mistake. Somewhat uniquely Clintonian mistake.
Left all that territory unprotected and wide open for TeaBagger lunatics to run wild, amply supported by a handful of billionaires eager to use them to a) turn back the tide of voters seeking to level the political and economic playing field and just as important b) distract from their collapsing of the global economy for sport.
There’s a pool of more than 3 million voters available in those three states to offset that meager 78,000 vote margin. Given the math and the available technology that’s a very, very achievable goal.
Contrast that with the state of the GOP. Across the board their entire game is big media ad buys for attack ads. Ads that everyone will see and hear. Ads that “diehard Trump supporters” like bot-farm will relish. Ads that will be carefully scientifically crafted to spark outrage in all of us, one way or another. All over America “diehard Trump supporters” like bot-farm troll will chub up at the thought of all the “Leftist Tears”. But that well is already at capacity. They’ve been pumping it with everything they’ve got for ten years now.
And in that time the Tea Party “rage” has become transformed into something uniquely Trumpian. There are no longer any achievable goals. Nothing real to look forward to. Immigration declined more under Obama (it’s the economy). Trump’s SOTU relies on empty lies. The people they need to reach, the “WWCMs” left ignored during the Clinton era, the people that formed the outer fringes of the Tea Party activism see little in Trumpism to attract them. Bannon and his calls for sweeping middle class tax cuts, manufacturing jobs programs, and “workforce empowerment zones” was driven out of the US with a whip and a chair.
I’m not saying the Democrats can reach any of the TeaBaggers. But as meager and as limited as their margin may have been for Trump and the GOP in 2016, there’s plenty of evidence that it will not be repeated, much less increased or built upon. Bless their hearts, Trump and the GOP chose to consolidate when they could not afford to do so. Largely because to do anything else would have meant to defy their money.
So where Democrats have a wind screen filled with nothing but blue sky in all directions, the GOP have their Flight 93 on auto pilot with the ground rapidly approaching.

Hunter Biden might not have time to take down Creepy Joe, as Biden’s support is cratering nicely on its own.
But since Trump was impeached for wanting Creepy Joe investigated, we might as well find out why that investigation was wanted, right?
Treasury Department sent information on Hunter Biden to expanding GOP Senate inquiry
Grassley and Johnson have sought to obtain some of the most sensitive and closely held documents in all of federal law enforcement — highly confidential suspicious activity reports (SARs) filed by financial institutions with FinCEN, an agency of the Treasury that helps to police money laundering.
The senators’ requests to the Treasury have borne fruit…
A source familiar with the matter said the Treasury began turning over materials less than two months after Grassley and Johnson wrote to FinCEN on Nov. 15, 2019, requesting any SARs and related documents filed by financial institutions regarding Hunter Biden, his associates, their businesses and clients.

Real question: Will Democrats?
119
@godwinhaspews:
Why did Creepy Joe let his son launder money, and provide cover for him using the power of his vice presidency while it was ongoing?
Why does Creepy Joe continue to insist that nobody is saying that Hunter did anything wrong? There are millions of Americans who are saying Hunter did something very, very wrong. And not just fucking the widowed wife of his brother.

While we’re on that subject, how many Trump associates have been indicted, convicted, or entered pleas? I’ve lost count.

@118 As I’ve said before, I can’t visualize the Democratic grassroots flocking to a billionaire trying to buy the nomination to protect himself and his fellow billionaires from Sanders and Warren.
But that said, I believe Democrats would turn out in November to vote for Bloomberg, because he’s not Trump.

Bloomberg has the money to make that run credibly, should he so choose. Klobuchar likely will not be running in two weeks, maybe in one week, although her Iowa results are surprisingly close to Creepy Joe’s.
He is a little too authoritarian for my tastes. But there is one Democrat in the running whom I believe would preserve the majority of the stock market’s current gains.
It’s Bloomberg.
Roger Dumbfuck Rabbit @ 35 wrote something incredibly stupid:

129
Roger Rabbitspews:
@125 “But there is one Democrat in the running whom I believe would preserve the majority of the stock market’s current gains.”
This has just gotta be the #1 priority of the average Democratic primary voter or caucus goer, yes?
The way you preserve these stock market gains is by continuing the financial engineering — Fed rate cuts and corporate buybacks — that created them in the first place.
Faster economic growth had nothing to do with it, because there isn’t any. The economy is slowing, not accelerating. The rally that began in October is nothing more than multiple expansion. You know that as well as I do.

Any IG has broad administrative subpoena duces tecum authority. So they can pull any document, record, or device from any agency and compel testimony from any employee relevant to those documents, records, or devices. But they have to loop in the AG (or DAG). A Special Counsel can impanel a GJ and issue them independently and keep them secret.
So what you just said says far more about AG Barr and his desire to do this in secret than it does about Horowitz or the validity of any such inquiry.
Keep waiting. Don’t forget to hold your breath.

Just wanted to add so there’s no confusion, since that’s obviously what bot-farm neeeeeds right now.
An IG could pull any State Department record from any era however distant in the past. DOD, DOJ, NSC, FISC, etc.
The AG could if they cared to. Certainly the President could.
That’s in the constitution.
So if there was somehow some secret record of a former VP way back in time rigging some dirty scheme in a corrupt foreign country in order to help “fix” a future election on the off chance that a reality television star runs for office and hires one of Roger Stone’s coke party friends working as a third party bag-man for one of Putin’s hand puppets… Geeezus.
The point is, however idiotic and fucked up lunatic this Giuliani conspiracy fever dream is, if it had ever existed Trump and Barr have the records already right now. They would have had them all along.
The reason for hiring Rudes in the first place is… wait for it…
…the records never existed because none of it ever happened.

Were any of the 4chan bullshit remotely true they’d already have enough documentation. Grassley and Johnson issuing subpoenas is a fucking press release and nothing more. BREADING NEWS: The DOJ and the White House have always had broad authority to investigate themselves.
Wanting to is another matter.

In other words: Democrats were counting on Barack Obama-levels of enthusiasm. They got Hillary Clinton numbers, instead.

Republicans are going to come out of this looking like a jury who, despite overwhelming evidence of guilt, refused to convict a white guy because he’s white.

59,
“Dumbfuck is hopeless.
They just aren’t part of America any more.

Roger Rabbit spews:
Roger Rabbit spews:
@65 Cuts both ways. I no longer care if their coal jobs go away, their communities rot, and their kids overdose. God helps those who help themselves, and if God can’t help them, it’s beyond my power also. The big chip they wear doesn’t exactly motivate me to want to.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@65 @67 Those tee shirts sell well to people yearning to be ostracized from polite society. I would not shake hands with, say “hi, how are ya” to, engage in conversation with, or have anything to do with someone wearing one of those. I would shake my head and walk away.
WTF!? spews:
@72 Good advice Roger. I’m learning. Thanks. I tend to let things slide more so nowadays. Life is too short. Sure I’ll still get angry, but it’s not as constant and definitely a lot less. But never let your guard down and fight or resist when you have to.
You can’t go forward if you get stuck in neutral or reverse. I’ve learned a lot over the last 5-6 years, but still haven’t learned enough; it’s been a transformation.
I can forgive and forget. To not to, doesn’t move you forward.
If you, or anyone, ever decides to visit NYC – I would suggest June when you can experience the longest and best Parade in NYC or any city. Who knows – maybe even Mayor Pete might be in attendance this year.

It was the most boring Parade I’ve ever been too. Bored out of my mind. To quite. It was like being in a church for 3 hours, but even more quite – I couldn’t wait to get back to my apartment where I could hear taxis beeping their horns and sirens of a fire engine or ambulance.
At least if you watch it on tv you have the hosts narrating. In person all you do is watch them walk by waving. And the attendees, although they might be all smiley, the hardly make any noise, I can’t even remember if they clapped.
In June – a ton of energy, music, cheering and loving.

Elijah Dominic McDotcom spews:
Steve spews:
“Please either calm it down or stop reading this site.”

Elijah Dominic McDotcom spews:
92,
It’s not that hard.

Roger Rabbit spews:

I’d pick Bloomberg. But that’s not the real question.
Real question: Will Democrats?
@godwinha spews:

You should be able to understand this, given that — according to you — even you can’t stomach Trump.
Elijah Dominic McDotcom spews:
Believe it.

@godwinha spews:
Which Democrat candidates have the easiest run to the center after receiving the nomination?

Bloomberg has the money to make that run credibly, should he so choose. Klobuchar likely will not be running in two weeks, maybe in one week, although her Iowa results are surprisingly close to Creepy Joe’s.
He is a little too authoritarian for my tastes. But there is one Democrat in the running whom I believe would preserve the majority of the stock market’s current gains.
It’s Bloomberg.
Roger Dumbfuck Rabbit @ 35 wrote something incredibly stupid:

Roger Rabbit spews:

A Special Counsel can impanel a GJ and issue them independently and keep them secret.
So what you just said says far more about AG Barr and his desire to do this in secret than it does about Horowitz or the validity of any such inquiry.
