    In just one month, Americans have made a sudden and dramatic shift away from the pro-choice position and toward a pro-life stance, according to a new Marist poll.

    The shift was led by Democrats and those under 45 years old, according to a survey taken Feb.12-17 in the wake of efforts in several states to legalize abortion up until birth.

    “Current proposals that promote late-term abortion have reset the landscape and language on abortion in a pronounced – and very measurable – way,” said Barbara Carvalho, director of The Marist Poll.

    In a substantial, double-digit shift, according to the poll, Americans are now as likely to identify as pro-life (47 percent) as pro-choice (47 percent). Just last month, a similar survey conducted by The Marist Poll found Americans more likely to identify as pro-choice than as pro-life by 17 percentage points (55 to 38 percent). Democrats moved in their pro-life identity from 20 percent to 34 percent.

    Among Democrats, the gap between pro-life and pro-choice identifiers was cut in half from 55 percent to 27 percent. The number of Democrats now identifying as pro-life is 34 percent, up from 20 percent last month, while the number identifying as pro-choice fell from 75 percent to 61 percent. Younger Americans also moved dramatically, now dividing 47 percent pro-life to 48 percent pro-choice. One month ago, the gap was almost 40 percentage points with only 28 percent identifying as pro-life and 65 percent identifying as pro-choice. . . .

    This survey of 1,008 adults was conducted Feb. 12 through Feb. 17, 2019 by The Marist Poll sponsored and funded in partnership with The Knights of Columbus. Adults 18 years of age and older residing in the United States were contacted on landline or mobile numbers and interviewed in English or Spanish by telephone using live interviewers. Telephone numbers were randomly selected based upon a list of telephone exchanges from throughout the nation. The exchanges were selected to ensure that each region was represented in proportion to its population. Assistance was provided by SSRS for data collection. The sample was balanced to reflect the 2017 American Community Survey 1-year estimates for age, gender, income, race, and region. Results are statistically significant within ±3.5 percentage points. MOE increases for subgroups.

    HUNTINGTON STATION, NY (WABC) – Police said a teenager was stabbed in an attack by three MS-13 members from his high school behind a Long Island Burger King.
    Lopez and two other suspects, 20-year-old Nobeli Montes Zuniga and 17-year-old Oscar Canales Molina, were charged with second-degree assault.
    According to police, Lopez entered the United States illegally on December 8, 2016. He was picked up by the Department of Homeland Security in October 2017, but a federal judge released him from custody in June.
    Zuniga and Molina entered the country illegally as unaccompanied minors. Molina was picked up by DHS in July 2017 but released by a federal district judge in November 2017.

    I got my Income Tax return paperwork and I am a little surprised to actually find out that it isn’t as bad as I thought it would be; and contrary to Bob thinking that everyone in NY and the East Coast would be losers. So hard to say this, but the Hump actually lowered my tax rate and the amount of taxes I paid as a percentage of my income – I hope that this holds true for the poorer but I probably doubt it; The Hump truly took care of the more rich people.

    Last year (2018) I paid 16.5% of my adjusted gross income and 19.7% of my taxable income to the Federal Government; 83.7% of my adjusted gross income was taxable, the highest percentage ever. Prior to 2018, the highest percentage of my adjusted gross income that was taxable was 82.4%, in 2014 and 2015 – the two years that I didn’t own a home (when I first moved to NYC). In addition my AGI increased 11.85% from 2017 to 2018 – mostly employer income. The amount of taxes paid increased 21.14%.

    Although I had the largest percentage of AGI versus Taxable income last year, the percentages noted above 16.5% and 19.7% aren’t the largest percentages. From 2011 to 2017 I paid 20.11%, 20.13%, 19.39%, 20.9%, 20.89%, 20.40, 21.16% , compared to 2018’s 19.7%; and 16.5%, 16.5%, 15.7%, 17.2%, 17.2%, 15.2%, 15.2% compared to 2018’s 16.5%.

    I’d like to thank Putin and all the less fortunate people like Bob’s grandchildren, the only real losers. The rich get richer!! yeah!

    The downside is that I worked harder this year to only pay more money in $’s – my tax liability increased 21.14% while my income increased only 11.8%.
