The Republicans absolutely hate this guy. He actually believes in the stated principles of the Republican party.
There are lots of places where I strongly disagree with Rep Paul, but at least he’s willing to stand up for his principles, even when they’re inconvenient, and as I’ve stated many times, I admire honesty.
Of the current batch of Republican candidates, he’s probably the one that could give us the most trouble in the general election, if the GOP ever really got behind him.
Fortunately for us, even if Rep Paul won the primaries, they hate the guy so much that there is no way that they’d let him get through the convention, and if he did somehow manage that, then the GOP leadership would probably end up supporting Hillary Clinton for President.
The current GOP leadership would much rather have a Democrat in the White House than someone that actually believed in what they profess.

Well, Ms. Ghost, as a Republican you keep telling me what I believe, and you come to this liberal blog to do so.
Nevertheless, you are welcome to correct any misconceptions I have regarding the stated philosophy of the Republican party.
My understanding is that you claim to believe in smaller government, fiscal responsibility, and staying out of matters that do not immediately concern government. You believe in a strict interpretation of the Constitution according to the expressed intent of the founding fathers.

Mr. Paul was a flight surgeon in the Air Force. He has most certainly attended at least his share of military funerals and memorial services.
In my twenty-one years, I’ve attended more than a few of those myself, and came closer than I care to remember to being the “guest of honor” at one of them. (I came out without a scratch, thank God.)
If I don’t see it as being disrespectful on Memorial Day, (which is actually either Monday or Wednesday, depending on whether or not you think that the actual day is or is not more important than a three-day car sale) then I’m not entirely sure how you get off declaring it to be disrespectful.

US entry into the Second World War was preceded by Pearl Harbor. Until that day, most Americans opposed entry into what was, correctly, perceived to be a European problem. Were the great many Republicans of that day, who, prior to Pearl Harbor, opposed entry into that European war, wrong?
And what exactly can one tell about your beliefs from the fact that you are a Republican?
You state that Rudy Giuliani somehow is qualified to be president because he was there on 9/11, “dealing with it”. How about the other millions of New Yorkers, who also were there, dealing with it? Is that a qualification for anything other than our sympathies and solidarity?
