If you haven’t already had the chance, Brendan Kiley’s fourth and final installment in his series on tainted cocaine is excellent. The entire series was easily one of the best pieces of local journalism from the past year.
UPDATE: And in other must-read news, Matt Taibbi’s latest on our new Speaker of the House is the usual great mix of hilarious and infuriating.
Two Dogs spews:
Just checked out the reading of the Constitution in the House yesterday. The Speaker or the House started off with the preamble, and he had to read it from his notes. he’s not that much younger than me, and in my day we all had to memorize the preamble and spell every word correctly. I was honestly surprised to see that he couldn’t do that from memory.
For me, this underscores the point that elected officials do need to actually learn something about our founding documents, including the interpretations the courts have made of them. Personally, I think their time yesterday would have been better spent doing that rather than making a show of reading the thing before the cameras.

All the ranting from HA leftists over gambling is hilarious.
Politically Incorrect spews:
I saw a good piece on John Stossel’s show last night. He interviewed Ann Coulter in regard to the War on Drugs. Of course, Coulter was against any legalization and sanity when it comes to marijuana, and David Boaz, a Libertarian commentator on Stossel’s show, described Coulter as a “law graduate of a some Ivy League schoo”l who believes her opinions are moral values. That’s the point with the hard right-wing people like Coulter: they believe their belief set should be imposed on everyone, and anyone who disagrees with them is immoral. In this sense, the Right truly is Wrong!
