The plan is to create a world vision that can be read ANYWHERE without fear of criticism. The synergism with a lifestyle built around 3 squares a day at the McDs is clear. “Breakfast mac and Mc Life please!”
McD will not charge for McLife! The mag will be free with any full meal. Instore customers will be abkle to read McLife on table top monitors. They expect to fund this fully from advertising.
McLife wll be locally customized and is expected to pout an end to conventional newspapers. United Airlines is discussing plans to bring back food, or at least McFood, using McLife to replace the current magazines.

headless lucyspews:
re 14: Many Christians are good-hearted enough, they just don’t think about what they are saying. Someone I worked with was trying to explain to me that homosexuals are an “abominition of the Lord”.
I agreed and told him about my friend’s 6 year old son (a close friend of my daughters)who had all his life been a very effeminate little boy.
My friend, being a very macho person, was very concerned. He asked me, “Headless. What’s wrong with him? What can I do?”
I explained that there was nothing he could do, and that furthermore, his son was an abomination in the eyes of the lord.
My Christian co-worker looked at me in horror and said,”You are a horrible person! How could you say that about your friend’s child?”
I explained that they were not my words, they were God’s! He appeared not to get the joke.
Well, Lucy, assuming that you made the “abomination” comment to the father, you were, at least, very insensitive to the feelings of that parent. If that Christian had made that comment, I would presume that you would have objected immediately, and considered the Christian to be both insensitive and rude, and you would get no argument from me. (On the contrary, I tend to hold Christians to a higher standard of conduct.)
So, in making your “joke”, you got a small chuckle for yourself at the expense of two co-workers. Depending on the faith of the father in this conversation, you may have caused him some real pain, for no reason other than your own personal pleasure.
Another question I have for you. The Christian in this scenario. Did you initiate that part of the conversation, or did (s)he? My experience is that those conversations are often initiated by folks trying to bait me, although that is only my own personal experience.

It would also be a very good thing, over the long run, for every high school to require a Comparative Religion course for each student. Ignorance is what usually leads to violence, and combating that is always a good thing.
I say this even though I suspect there would be some serious arguments regarding how the “Catholics” (which would include Lutherans and Escopalians), “post-Catholics” (Baptists, Methodists, Presbyrterians), Pentacostals and the Mormons each interpret Christianity, let alone interpretations of Judaism, Islam and Bhuddism versus Christianity.
But they do this in western Europe, and it is probably one of their most beneficial factors in creating religious tolerence there.

I don’t really think that most who attempt to bring religion into public schools concern themselves with the cultural or historical understanding that study of the Bible could offer. Even lower on the meter would be promotion of understanding among Christians and other religionists.
What is desired, I think, is a return to the situation prevalent in the first half of the 20th century, where children attending schools in almost exclusively Jewish neighborhoods started each day reciting the Lord’s Prayer.
I guess Americans realizing that fighting the war on drugs and the war on terror together creates an even more spectacular failure is too much to have on the cover…

“P-I: ‘Vehicles burn in suspected arson’
“Twelve city vehicles are charred ruins after they deliberately were set on fire early Monday morning in a city lot on South Royal Brougham Way, Seattle fire and police officials said.
“I’m confused. There’s no suspect to indict. No smoking gun. (okay, 12 smoking vehicles, but no smoking gun). … There is zero evidence to attribute this conflagration to a human being, let alone to a criminal act. Why should the police even investigate?
“All of this innuendo about felony arson when it was obviously an innocent mistake or an act of God is just not the way things are done …”

29 PL, we don’t know exactly where (or really, if) Puddy goes to church. Therefore we have no idea what, if any, relationship might exist between what they’re trying to teach him there and what he’s actually learned.
Well, Puddybud, I would also caution my fellow Christians that we are held to a higher standard of conduct. We have brothers and sisters that shout hateful things at gay pride parades, and make hateful comments in public.
Somehow I doubt that those comments are made with the expectation that the folks hearing them will somehow change.
You and I could have an interesting conversation about differing schools of thought within the Christian community, but that is for another venue.
What we agree on is that whatever we do or say must be for the benefit of the recipient. When we shout in anger and express hatred for anyone, we are bringing discredit upon all Christians, and disregarding commandments far greater than any of the rules regarding sexual behaviour.
And we’re the folks that are supposed to know better.

Acting like you love America, but don’t know a fucking thing about our history.
The separation clause comes from a letter written to the Democratic President Thomas Jefferson from the Danbury Baptist. Since President Jefferson was there during the drafting of the Constitution he had a great understanding of what they meant.
In the letter to President Jefferson the leaders of the Church were asking for clarification of the 1st Amendment. President Jefferson responded with a letter and in it he cites the 1st Amendment, and since he was writing to social conservatives — like you– he knew it would need some clarification and he wrote the famous line: “I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;” thus building a wall of eternal separation between Church & State.?
Clear enough for you?
Now, it they only explained the 2nd Amendment a little more clearly we’d know not every Tom, Dickless, and Harry were meant to own a firearm.

TL @ 44:
2nd Amendment states: “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
In order to own a firearm you need to belong to a “well regulated militia” that doesn’t mean a bunch of yahoos running around the forest pretending to be Army “men.” It means a state sponsored militia. And, the second qualifier, the militia also needed to be “necessary to the security of a free State”.
When this was written it referred to people like the Massachusetts Minute Men, ordinary citizens who could be called upon at any moment to defend their state. Thus, the necessity of common citizens to own guns.
Look it up some time, ass hole.
But don’t worry, you want to be a “strict constitutionalist” conservative, but us “Living, breathing document” Liberals will save you from your own ignorance and fight for your right to keep and bear arms as it has become to be interpreted.

@ 44:
Finally, someone on this board who would support massive tax cuts and calls for the government to get out of the way…..
Another dumb shit conservative who isn’t good with math. You cannot give a tax cut while you are running a deficit.
Deficit spending means we are borrowing money from other countries to pay the bills.
So if you’re not raising enough revenue to the treasury with taxes then how can you reduce those revenues and borrow money to fill the shortfall?
When you “borrow” money, you have to pay it back. The “pay back” is a tax burden on future generations of Americans to shoulder.
So the taxes are being deferred to future generations of Americans.
Bush did not give a tax cut, but tax deferment and massive tax INCREASE to future generations of Americans.
The national debt, as it stands now, 50% is attributable to GWB and the Republicans. President Clinton was the ONLY sitting president in the last century to pay DOWN the debt, so he has none of the burden on him. GWHB and Ronald Reagan make up 35% of the rest of the national debt.
In total 85% of the debt we owe now are attributable to Republican executives who requested congress borrow the money.
Last year we spent $300 billion dollars on Ronald Reagan’s borrowing. Basically, the cost of the Iraq War.
You want to reduce taxes, get Republicans out of office, they’re responsible form the vast majority of our debts.

Sources inside the GRWC (Great Right Wing Conspiracy) have confirmed that McD is BUYING Life magazine from Time. The move is a joint venture with Murdock and the Beijing Army owned channel 11.
United Airlines is discussing plans to bring back food, or at least McFood, using McLife to replace the current magazines.

re 14: Many Christians are good-hearted enough, they just don’t think about what they are saying.
John Barelli spews:

Then, your church will teach its congregants to love war, hate gays, judge everyone else, feel self-righteous, demand more capital executions, etc. I am forever at a loss to understand how rightwingers like you can reconcile your “religious” views with the Gospel, particularly with passages such as Matthew 25. Permit me to let you in on something: the Bible consists not only of the Old Testament, but the New Testament as well.

Well, there you go again!
