Unless, of course, you’re literally talking about words with four letters in them, in which case, guilty as charged.
It’s quite a convenient meme, that one can pretty much ignore anything I have to say, because I sometimes use the word “fuck”, but really, it’s just an excuse for those who are incapable of debating the facts and analysis I offer. Forgive the foul language, but that’s a complete and utter load of bullshit. Remember all the predictions when I started on KIRO, that I couldn’t go 10 minutes without dropping the “f-bomb”? How’d that work out?
I’m a writer. I write in a variety of genres and styles. I’ve written press releases, Off-Broadway musicals, technical documents, childrens books, even a handful of guest columns published in the P-I, Times and TNT. I use appropriate language in the appropriate places. If a major paper offered me a paid column, I’d take it in a heartbeat, and I think all the editors are smart enough to know that they wouldn’t have to worry about me handing in profanity laced copy.
HA is a forum in which foul language is appropriate, and I’m not going to censor myself to accomodate the stodgy sensibilities of people who prefer polite lies over honest, if profane discourse.
