Join me tonight for a special Friday night edition of Drinking Liberally, as we gather to see if the suddenly unsuspended John McCain actually shows up to debate Barack Obama. The debate starts at 6PM, and folks will start gathering around 5:30PM at our usual haunts, the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Ave E., in Seattle’s Montlake neighborhood.
Democracy for Washington will be handing out Debate Bingo cards, and the first three winners will receive some DFA swag and a free round of beers. So join us for an evening partisan cheers, jeers, and of course, beers.
See ya there.

Democrats earmarked 20% of BAILOUT to activist organization such as
ACORN

And other bullsh*t.

Andy Borowitz has a great piece today. I got halfway through it before I realized it was satire.
Source: McCain attacks the man in the mirror
Roger Rabbit spews:
@1 Why are crooked Wall Street CEOs more deserving than ACORN?
YLB spews:
Hi wingnuts. I’m back from three wonderful days off away from all tv, radio and internet.
I’ve scanned here and there, not thoroughly to be sure. Has the wingnut activity dropped off here at HA.org?
Things getting a bit tough wingnuts? McSame barely treading water? Palin a disaster at debate and news conference preparation?
Big show up tonight feckless right wingers. Shall I be so bold as to predict the final implosion of that comic opera otherwise known as the McSame campaign.
Whatever happens be advised that I’m locked and loaded and ready to kick wingnut ass till election day in November.
It’s good to be back.
Roger Rabbit spews:
Roger Rabbit rarely attends DL on Friday nights because that’s my evening for hot dates with cute female bunnies.
Roger Rabbit spews:
Hey Cynical! How much did you lose in the stock market today while your Republican buddies in the House of Representatives fiddled amid the flames?
HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR
rhp6033 spews:
What’s the drinking game for tonight’s debate?
(a) take a drink anytime McCain says “My friends…”
(b) take a drink every time a candidate tries to turn a foreign policy question into a question about the economy?
Any others????
(Oh, for either of the above suggestions, a designated driver would be STRONGLY recommended).
rhp6033 spews:
By the way, everyone keep track over the next few days how many times McCain says he “opposed” the bailout because it rewards Wall Street at the expense of the American taxpayer.
Of course, that’s a good reason to oppose this bailout, if you’ve got a different idea on how to fix the problem. But McCain helped scuttle the compromise worked out Thursday morning by supporting a Conservative Republican plan which would instead forgive capital gains taxes and give other tax credits to Wall Street firms, and remove regulations which they say will give them more “flexibility”. It’s not clear if they think such a plan would restore those firms to profitability, or if they think it would be an incentive for them to buy bad debt, or what.
So remember that when John McCain complains about the bailout plan, his alternative is… more of the same.

Hey Cynical! How much did you lose in the stock market today ?”
Ummm Rog you silly Rabbit, Wells Fargo went UP $3.19/share. I sold 2,000 shares around $40 the other day….don’t you pay attention?
I’m still holding 2,000 shares.
All the rest of my powder is dry Rog.
FYI–
We may be buying some more real estate.
Phoenix area has some fabulous buys.
Just go down there with my checkbook and talk with the repo offices of various banks.
It’s amazing what cash can do these days.
Want to tag along???
rhp6033 spews:
Cynical @ 9: Well, if you’ve got cash, you can get around the financing difficulties. But what are your plans then? Are their renters willing to rent, or buyers who you are prepared to finance yourself? If not, real estate can be very expensive to hold onto while you wait for the market to change.
I’m not saying it might not be a good deal, it’s just that you’ve got to be real careful. I had a chance to buy a house in one area last month for only $38,000, but there’s nobody left there to rent it to or able to buy it. The place turned into a ghost town with every other house vacant, people left searching for jobs elsewhere. It still might be a good deal, but it’s a gamble on that basis.

@4 Maybe if Obama wins you can get some free
money so they dont shut off your power again
that way you wont be out of touch.

@11:
Just what is was thinking. God forbid YLB actually has to go out a get a job and pay his own bills. We can’t have that now, can we? Funny how YLB being a non-taxpayer thinks his opinion somehow matters.
