Does Sarah Palin believe we’re living in the “End Times”?

by Goldy — Wednesday, 10/1/08, 10:20 am

So… does Sarah Palin really believe we’re living in the “End Times”?  And if so, can we trust her to have her finger on the button?

Don’t you think that those are legitimate questions to be asked of a Vice Presidential candidate?

    More proof that the democrats are scared of palin.

    If not, would they need to get someone as biased as Gwen Ifill to moderate the veep debate?

    Of course if obama wins gwen will make more money from the sale of her books. No conflict of interest there.

    Scared is as scared does. And the left is proving how scared they are.

    Funny how the media made a big deal of hillary lying about being shot down in a helicopter but refuse to even report on biden telling the same lie.

    Don’t you think that those are legitimate questions to be asked of a Vice Presidential candidate?

    Why won’t the media ask biden the tough questions?

    Just about all of them. Maybe one or two don’t. It’s so freaking narcissistic of them to be so convinced that something like that will happen in their lifetimes.

    From AP today:

    “…The new surveys show Obama leading McCain in Florida 51 percent to 43 percent, in Ohio 50 percent to 42 percent and in Pennsylvania 54 percent to 39 percent.

    Since 1960, no president has been elected without winning two of those three states.”

    Sourc: Obama Leads Polls in Three Key States

    Gee, think we could put any more pressure on Palin? Ohio absentee voters are already voting. At this point, it’s up to Palin to hit one out of the ballpark to get McCain’s campaign back in the running. Anything less than that isn’t going to cut it, despite her having what is probably a record-setting level of “diminished expectations”.

    Prediction: The McCain campaign and the White House have a big event planned which will hit the news wires early Friday morning, in order to dominate the news cycle and push the news from the Palin/Biden debate into the background. They will see how the debate goes before pulling the trigger. But if something big happens Friday morning, you can be sure that Karl Rove has decided that the discussion of the debate needs to be on the back-burner.

    I have no idea what it would be, except that the current “crisis” regarding the ship full of arms hijacked by Somali pirates might be an opportunity to exploit. A U.S. Seal raid to take over the ship might be “just-the-ticket” to get the news off of Palin’s lack of qualifications, the economy, and back onto “national security” issues.

    The truth is, Ifill’s forthcoming book was announced two weeks before McCain agreed to have her moderate the debate. The whining trolls spew should be directed at McCain’s incompetence. McCain again proves himself incapable of leading his own campaign and his party. One can only conclude that no candidate in modern history has been less qualified to lead this nation.

    Thomm Hartman’s radio show is right now going over the back and forth between Herbert Hoover and the Congress over the banking crisis of that time.

    The parallels are frighteningly similar.

    The fight is over who do you give money to?

    Do you give money to Wall Street who will only be left to do what they’ve been doing?

    Or Main Street who if they don’t get better financing terms will be thrown out of their houses, will lay off employees from their small business or shut them down all together?

    Eventually FDR took over and decided to bail out main street and the country was way better off for him taking that course.

    Goldy’s question is not frivolous. Anyone who thinks religion is not an issue in deciding how to vote might consider the implications of Ms. Palin’s knowledge of the age of the Universe relative to decisions about oil or global warming.

    For many of us science is just itself … reality, but for the Palinistas of this world, their reality comes form another source.

    I have the same concern about morality. Orthodox Judaism, Islam, Mellenialsm, .. each of these teach a way of life and those “ways” have a huge effect on what we might expect of the candidate in office. Even the concept of eternal life is significant if it affects how much someone values this world.

    The rapture – a load of crap.

    It appeals to the type of people that want to say “See, I told you so!!!”, and they want it to happen in their lifetimes because:
    A. It supposedly lets you into heaven without dying
    B. They can rub the noses of the “unbelievers” in it.

    Of course, they only way they can rub the noses of the unbelievers in it is if they don’t rapture – which would mean they weren’t true believers, which might have something to do with their wanting to rub the noses of the “unbelievers” into something.

    The video is hilarious though. The only ‘refuges’ in the USA are Wisconsin and Alaska?
    How would hundreds of thousands of people GET to Alaska, never mind how would Alaska feed them? Where would they even put them?

    Below is an excerpt from the debate…

    Something I don’t understand. Obama is making the point that back in the 60’s the united state was held in higher esteem by the world.

    In the 60’s the democrats were still openly racist.

    In the 60’s there was zero chance of a black man running for president.

    Gays weren’t even second class citizens yet.

    Yet things are worse now?

    And if things were better, wht not go back to the values that were prevalent in the 60’s.

    Well, let me just make a closing point. You know, my father came from Kenya. That’s where I get my name.

    And in the ’60s, he wrote letter after letter to come to college here in the United States because the notion was that there was no other country on Earth where you could make it if you tried. The ideals and the values of the United States inspired the entire world.

    I don’t think any of us can say that our standing in the world now, the way children around the world look at the United States, is the same.

    George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.

    A little over one year ago:

    1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;

    2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;

    3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.

    4) the DOW JONES hit a record high–14,000 +

    5) American’s were buying new cars,taking cruises, vacations overseas, living large!…

    But American’s wanted ‘CHANGE’! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic

    Congress and yes–we got ‘CHANGE’ all right. In the PAST YEAR:
    1) Consumer confidence has plummeted ;

    2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!;

    3) Unemployment is up to 5.5% (a 10% increase);

    4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12TRILLION DOLLARS and prices still dropping;

    5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

    6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low~~ $2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM
    STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT
    PORTFOLIOS!

    YES, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE…AND WE SURE GOT IT! …

    REMEMBER THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE ISSUES, ONLY CONGRESS.

    AND WHAT HAS CONGRESS DONE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

    NOW THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT CLAIMS HE IS GOING TO REALLY GIVE US CHANGE ALONG WITH A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS!!!!

    JUST HOW MUCH MORE ‘CHANGE’ DO YOU THINK YOU CAN STAND?

    Palin has utterly bizarre and possibly dangerous religious beliefs. Her church is so off the wall that the Assemblies of God kicked them out in 1949.

    The glossolalia doesn’t bother me–nothing wrong with getting a little enthusiastic in church. Even the healing through cell phone calls isn’t so bad, assuming that people on the other end are using evidence-based medicine also and just trying to cover every possible option.

    What ought to be disturbing to any sane person is her statement “Yes, I think I will see Jesus come back to earth in my lifetime.” Should McCain win, we are just one more possibly fatal melanoma episode away from putting the nuclear football in the hands of someone who is looking forward to the destruction of earth in a scene straight out of the Left Behind series.
